I'm thinking about doing circle contest in battle format, like a one on one tournament. What does everyone think about that? I think it would be a cool experiment and it could potentially change the way circle is done. I'm thinking that we would do 4 turns each till semi finals then change to 6. No more variety or density. Please share your thoughts, this is just an idea nothing is set yet.

Ted would be the one to ask about that for more details but I think it's the people that will be renting the sleep accommodations. You would be hard pressed to find b rabbit on this forum, he doesn't have much of an interest in footbag these days. I'm sure he'll be around for some chilling and seeing old friends though. I hope you're planning on coming, that would be the dopey dope sauce with caramelized awesomeness and a fresh can of sweet sickness on the side.

Attention all East Coast Footbag Championships COMPETITORS:

If you intend to compete in the 2-minute Routines, please bring your music on a CD. Ideally, you should bring your music on an MP3 Player AND a CD ---- we have not worked-out all the kinks with our sound-system yet, and we want to be prepared for multiple eventualities...

Feel free to bring any other favorite music that you'd like to shred to as well.

Thanks.

Well, another great East Coast Footbag Championships has been concluded. A great time was had by all. Things really did go very well --- we had a pretty cool site to play at -- shady, public, very few hassels. Lots of good shredding. Competition ran a little bit dysfunctional on the first day, but by day two things were running smooth. Prize money and prize bags and promotional products were awarded to many in generous quantities.

Thank you very very much to everybody who came to play --- (The big blue-and-white posse from Penn State rolled into town like a high tide in uniform! [I can hardly even remember 'em all, there were so many -- Aiden, Khoa, Ben B., Ryan, Mark, Derrick, April, Nadia & Nick - I'm probably forgetting some... sorry...], Cassy Taylor for taking that long bus trip all the way from Ontario and showing us what a well-rehearsed routine looks like! Matt Kemer! Our brothers from Boston - Pete Bowler and Kevin Hogan [a New York City jam just wouldn't be complete without 'em], Oli Simpson from New Hampshire! The Erie PA crew never ever lets us down, and kicking with Jack and Dan is the best! Not to be taken for granted, the locals, Mikie and Matt and Ben and Bruce and Drew and Waylon and David and Johnny B. Goode! -- many of whom also helped run things like judging the events, running the music, and many other things)

Thank you very very much to all the contributors to our event --- Ivan Iakimenko's juicy prize bags will be well appreciated by our winning competitors, Bruce Dole for out-doing himself with T-Shirts and Trophies (definitely his best trophies yet, and he shelled-out mucho dinero from his own pocket to produce these -- don't worry, we'll pay him back, mostly...), and over-all just helping the event to run in a variety of ways.

Also it was nice to hang out with the Net Players (our playing-sites were right next to each other this year, thankfully), Marylin and Manu and Martin and Christian.

Biggest thanks of all go out to a couple of Net Players without whom us freestylers wouldn't have even had a tournament to come to --- Jim Hankins and Ted Fritsch --- they both did substantial work in advance and behind the scenes, very difficult stuff, and East Coast Championships just wouldn't have happened without 'em. On behalf of all the freestylers, thanks guys!

And for those who missed it --- well, there's always next year --- don't make the same mistake again --- 2014 will be the 32nd Annual East Coast Championships (date and location TBD). See you then.

Thank you to everyone who came to this event I had a blast. I would like to hear some peoples comments and ideas on the battle format and ways we could improve it or if we should even try it again. I know some people really didn't like it and most people seemed to think circle is better and I might be with you. Jon mentioned a cool idea to change the format where everyone plays everyone else and the players with the most points move into a 4 man bracket to crown the champion. I think that would be super fun to face everyone head to head. Thoughts?

I like Jon's idea. I also think it would be cooler to be able to drop as many times as you want during your turn. So you could play like you wanted to instead of playing safe and passing on your first drop.

but all in all, I had a blast. Great job to all the competitors and non-competitors. Great turn out. Hope there are more next time. Next year, I think it would be easier to hold ECFC in a less busy area. 2011 New Jersey spot was perfect for it. We didn't have to waste so much time getting to the shred spot and everything was more convenient. Nadiah and I ended up missing our bus to go home by just a hair. We got lost on the way there and we walked the wrong way away from our bus stop. We had to wait another hour and a half til our next bus came and it was just a lot of stressful hassle. But everything before that was so awesome! Trophies and shirts were super dope! Props to Bruce for those. Props to Drew, Jon, Jim, and everyone else for hosting! Can't wait til the next jam on the east coast!

That was a lot of fun! I'm glad everyone liked the shirts and trophies, I'm starting to think about the designs for next year already!

Lots of people left lots of stuff of my apartment....or Pete left half of his wardrobe, one of the two.

one gray towel
one white towel
one white t-shirt (medium) of unknown brand
one gray American Apparel long sleeve
one pair boxers with candycanes and "100% re-gifted" printed pattern
one short sleeve collared "Duffy's of Cape Cod" shirt (see below)
one pair black Adidas athletic shorts
and a partridge in a pear tree, but only the pear tree survived (bad kitty!)

Pete (or possibly Kevin), sorry if my cat puked on your shirt....and sorrier still if it missed the shirt, but in my efforts to stop short of stepping in it myself I kicked the shirt into the puke. I washed it off immediately.

It was nice to meet and hang out with the PSU crew! Derek and Aidan, I'll mail your trophies to Ivan when I send him a shirt. Cassy, it was wonderful to meet you! I love how when you introduced yourself, you said "I don't know any of you", then proceded to give everyone big hugs :)

Hope to see you all again soon!

Anyone else who wants to buy a shirt, they're $25 including shipping...(the back is just the text/logos of the sponsors)
