I train a lot, but I do not see improvement

Post by 123456 »

Hello,
Excuse my very bad english, please. Thanks.
I am very frustrated. I train a lot, but I do not see improvement. I train 3hours and 6 days per week. Every 4-5 days I have one day off.

But I train and train and I do not see a lot of progress. On the contrary, I am very tired and does not make any sense.

I don't know where is the problem?

How do I train? I train routine and I have a lot drops. I can not stand to play a long time and without drops (circle, shred30).
And to train those tricks over and over again. Moreover, these simple basic tricks (legover, mirrage, sym.mirrage, double legover, clipper, tricks from clipper etc.). Moreover, still can not really Clipper and atw.

I want to have at least some improvement, but I do not know how to do it.

Take a video of your most inconsistent tricks/components and post it up on here. If you can use slow motion when you edit the footage and have a real speed then slowed down speed of these tricks this is even better. Bad form/technique can hold you back enormously and fixing and form issues can help enormously. For the components that have been giving you trouble for a long time it's exceptionally hard to spot the issues on your own. This is because the long term issues arise precisely because they are hard to spot, if they weren't hard to spot then you would already have fixed it given how much you are already training.

Of you post a video PM me and I'll be sure to have a look and make some comments, while I'm not the best player I might be able to spot some things.

Have you looked for players in your area? Often, the best way to improve is to have somebody better than you teach you. Plus its a nice way to make friends.

Welcome to footbag, and welcome to the forums. Its definitely a tricky sport, but its very fulfilling once you get good.

Is it possible that you actually are improving but not noticing it? Progress is often slower than you can notice. I'd advise this. Choose a handful of standard tricks and at the end of every session spend 5 minutes on each trick trying to see how many consecutives you can do (I recommend choosing alternating tricks). Put them in a spreadsheet with the date. Don't expect to beat your record every time, but after a month look at the data and I bet you get upwards trends for every trick.

Edit; The other thing to remember is that starting footbag is really the hardest part. Learning the muscle memory and technique for the basics takes a lot of practice. Even if you know what you should be doing, often you haven't built up enough of the right muscles and control to be able to actually execute things. The only solution is to keep practising and be patient. It sounds like you're doing that bit right, so if you can keep that up, I'm sure you'll start progressing more and more rapidly as you build up the physical abilities.
