NYFA New Year Spam?

Post by Max Power »

If we build it, will they come? A few people have expressed interest in visiting NYC for the new year, are you one of them?

Quite tempted, depending on a bunch of things. Would this be a group of Foosbaggers partying, or would this be a group of Footbaggers shredding event?

It will be both i presume. We have a dance studio that we rent that isn't very expensive and depending on the amount of people we have we can get it for 3 or 4 hours for two days. That might cost us 15 or 20 each for each person. The partying is a hard in ny on new years, everything is really crowded and extra expensive. Ian will have an installation at a warehouse party but tickets to that will be at least 50 and i have a feeling they might be a lot more. Time square is free and appealing to people for some reason but it's cold and super crowded. As you can tell I'm not really sure about the partying, keeping everyone together and within a low budget is key. Thoughts? Maybe we can just have a house party.

House party sounds awesome. If I'm coming all the way to NYC it would be to hang out with you guys and not randoms anyways. Definitely open to other inexpensive options though.

Man- I am going to be really busy trying to set up my installation, but I will be starting before xmas this time, so hopefully I will be able to get away and shred with you guys at some point. I will definitely do my best to make this happen.

With regard to NYE, I will keep my ears to the grindstone and think about places as well, but I don't know if I will be able to get tickets to the Festival I am partaking in, with the exception of a few volunteered assistants. That doesn't mean I won't try my best :)

EDIT: oh, and as long as we are talking about spam, it would be awesome if I could have a few hands on Transmission again, at some point. Please let me know if you might be around for the holidays and interested in helping a brother out- NYFA really saved my butt last month and I am forever grateful :)

So I think that we should rent the studio for Monday evening from like 6pm till 9 and Tuesday afternoon sometime maybe starting at 2 or 3. Would that work for everyone?

I'm in like Flynn with a bottle o' gin.

It would be awesome for us all to go out to a show together and get a little extra extra wild. I'll keep my eyes open for a great show where we can all dance and get down and rage before heading back in the wee hours to drink and party more, hopefully at Ben's so we can go on his roof and watch the sun come up together.

The studio has a class that starts at 7pm on Monday so I think that we should go with 4 to 7 and on Tuesday the place closes at 4 so I think we should go with 2 to 4. If this is inconvenient for anyone please post here before tomorrow evening, we do have other options.

Getting psyched for New Years in general -- for party, for time off work, for skiing, and for SHRED!

The hours sound okay -- the timing isn't bad, but... only two hours on Tuesday? If the alternate plan gets us 3 hours on both days, then I think I like the other plan better...

Is the choice between the Capoeria Angola studio and the old Dick Shea/Happy Kicks studio across the street?

PS -- I see that Phish is playing at Madison Square Garden on New Years Eve (and a few nights before too). I feel like I've been telling my Phish/Footbag/New Years Eve/Madison Sq. Garden story alot lately... I think I might try to relive my earlier adventures next week.

We are booked! From 4 to 7 on the 30th at pmt on 14th st near the corner of 6th ave which is the old happy kicks studio and on the 31st at champion studio from 2 to 5. Champion is at 257 w 39th street, We played there last week with the cleaver. PMT decided that they would be closed on the 31st after the first time I spoke with them. If you are planning on coming please contact a NYFA member so we know how many to expect.

Cool cool cool.

My recollection from the last time we kicked at PMT was that it was a better price and better lighting than Capoeira Angola (they let light bulbs burn-out and don't replace them at the Capoeira place...).

Thanks alot for making the arrangements, Drew. You the man. Merry Christmas.

Champion studios just called me and told me that they are closing at 3pm on Tuesday. WTF? why did you book me till 5 you jerks! That is the second time I got the shaft on booking Tuesday shred. I am racking my brain to see if I can find another solution. We could get up early on tue and try to get there by 12 or 1 and kick till 3, but that's not ideal. I guess that's the plan for now unless someone can come up with a better one.

I'm fine with getting up early. I want to shred for 3 hours.

Doesn't look like we will be in town until Sunday evening.
