spent most of the 1 hour session trying to fix flip stepping, didn't even hit one flip bedwetter
I did find some ways to make my stepping easier, but still unsure about the technique. Felt easier for easy tricks but didn't work on big tricks. I did a small hop sideways like I do on my strong stepping, but my clippers are so different it just doesn't work as well.
On a good note I got 2 decent highlights
flurry-pigbeater (first try flew away on foot controlled, got it within 5 attempts I think)
fairy ss dlo bsos, close to b2b as well
too sick to shred hard for a 3rd day in a row.. I have ZERO energy, I ate nothing for 2 days, getting better today, but don't want to push to hard
I got pigbeater both sides in pants, felt nasty considering this was a hard trick in shorts before and it wasn't too hard in pants while being sick now !
tomorrow I might not shred either, just play a bit to keep my streak going, sunday will probably my day back in shorts
Do you have any advice for starting to play daily?
How to optimize time with setup, showering, stretching, eating, everything. How to deal with pain and soreness (was it killer the first week? -- I get really sore from playing once/twice a week, so I'm concerned). Did you start with less frequently and work your way up first? Like every second day and once you were used to that worked up to daily? I'd love to get a ton of benefits out of playing more frequently, especially while I am jobless now, but would really appreciate your insights on getting started.
well my tips won't be the best, I've never stretched or modified much to my normal habbits.
Being a single father one week out of two doesn't help much with time and organisation!
Basicly I do make sure there will be a time window at some point in the day to have my session, I wouldn't handle forgetting to plan it, and finish the day outside my home unable to play due to lack of preparation. But that's very easy to do, you usually know when you go out in advance enough to keep a 30 minutes for footbag before leaving.
Since time is short for me quite often, I just use the time I have when I have it. When I have my girl it can only be at two times. Either during her nap around 2PM, or when she's at bed for the night after 8PM. When I don't have her it's pretty much anytime I want and will quite often have 2 sessions every day.
For food, well as you can see, sessions happening often at 2:30 and 8:30 PM, food has been eaten a couple of hours before, but it's just that it happens that way. Sometimes I have a session 30 minutes after lunch, some other times just before.
for soreness, I dealt with one big soreness once, around day 30 I think, I went to a friend's gym to do cross fit training for one hour. Oh boy was I sore the next couple of days, but I just played over it, took longer then usual to warmup but ended up playing ok.
Footbagwise, I stay away from certain tricks such as symposiums, atomic and quantum, movements that require too much uptime and momentum start. Don't get me wrong, I do them time to time, but if I believe it hurts my body too much I won't try to become the master of it, I'm already 32, I count on playing for a long time, and I don't want a broken body when I'm 45 because I've been trying to get those 20 contacts of toe blur or 15 consec ps whirls. Maybe I over estimate what those tricks can do to the body, but it served me right so far, and I don't get too sore from 3 hours session.
for working up to playing every day, I didn't go from break to every day, I went from 3-4 times a week to 5-6 times a week to eventually every day when I realized I been playing for 20ish days in a row.
got a 2nd session tonight, got flip blur-fairy whirl. my strong fairy whirl is actually not too bad, I should try to use it more, flipside is still really hard because I still set a bit outside making the whirl further to dex.
also got some spinning rev swirls both sides, been a while I hit that trick, and strong side wasn't too hard, something else I should experiment with!
got a good run with bsos fairy ss whirl + bsos fairy whirl + more whirl tricks
forgot the rest, but worked mostly on fairy whirls. I need to focus a lot on fairy to have decent sets, like set the leg straight up until bag lifts and then really fast go for the fairy, I tend to do both at the same time and get a crooked set that limits my trick possibilities.
