Drats, I've been Somolimosified.

Thanks for the challenges, home scout. I'll add them to my list. I think I can get Skull b2b in the near future, before Jamps. Getting stokederer and stokederer to kick with you in Nawlins.

So I had a session yesterday and tonight. Good stuff…

Highlights:

 Flip Diving Clipper record from 5 to 11
 Whirling Cloud Kick> Op Mirage> Atomsmasher BSOS
 Totally figured out a newish concept tonight. I couldn't believe it. I'm gonna keep this a secret until I own it. My "mystery component" ;)
 Bunch of stuff with mystery component lol Wish I could say it, but I always post EVERYTHING I do on my blog. I kinda wanna have some things be a surprise that I reveal in person at a jam. I plan to be good at this concept for Jamps and Nawlins.

Jackson has been shredding/drilling with me. Got a bunch of new tricks/concepts in the works. Shredding with everyone, including PSU crew (on spring break) on Sunday. Real excited for it.

Ok so madd tired. Need to get sleep.. But I had such a great session with the people in the picture today (Bonslaver was 'shopped in by Ivan, because he left before we took a picture lol)

Lots of stuff was filmed today. I had some immense new stuff. Quickly will jot it down.

Highlights:

 Pdx Drifter> Nuke muted Clipper
 Sumo> Atomsmasher bs
 Sumo> Atomsmasher> run with Mobius & shuffle> flip Sumo> atom drop (Probably my favorite run… also my first or 2nd time saucing Sumo)
 Lots of great runs…
 Symp Whirl> PS Whirl in pants, on slanted cement, with a huge burrito in my belly. (Happened after post shred dinner)
 Spinning Ducking Butterfly> Matador
 Phoenix> Matador
 Ripped Warrior> Matador
 Smog> Smoke (may be easy for you, but I have always sucked at stuff like this!)

Great session. I guess I'll reveal it now, since I kinda did already… My mystery concept is Nuclear. I got pretty good at it out of nowhere. Really love them. I actually footed a pretty big trick with Nuke, but I'll save that for when I'm ready for it and I'll get it on video, hopefully.

From left to right: Ryan Morris, Kat Cryan, Nathan Bonslaver (photoshoplolz), Ivan Iakimenko, Jackson Raap, Zach Hoffa, Jeremy Mellor, Nick Polini, Nadine Smith, Corey Gerges

Best local session ever, imo.

Yo thanks a lot, Kev. Always thankful for your comments. I Love that Smog> Fairy Revup link. Will try it once I have better Fairies.

So I drilled with Jackson tonight. Played outside a bit after work and before it got too dark.. wasn't long enough :( But drilling inside afterward with Jack was a lot of fun. He was killing it. Osis> Infinity bs, Osis> Far Legover bs, Flip Whip (first one on flip), 7 Tiltless with 5 of those all toe unique, Osis> Pdx Mirage bs… Jackson is on his way. I hope he sticks with it this time. He seems much more into it now though. Fingers crossed. He's got madd potential.

Highlights outside:

 Sumo> Inspinning Clipper (still need to work on Flip Nuke.. it's there most of the time though.)
 Drifter> Nuke Clipper.. one side :/ My Drifters on flipside need to get better too.
Meh. Nothing too special..

Drills:

Like I said, I am going to be switching between Week A drills and Week B drills. Last week was A, this week is B. My first time doing B's… so bare with some of the numbers :/ Im convinced I can improve each on of them by… at least 1 :P

Image

Cloud kicks b2b are so tough. Haven't quite figured them out yet. Pretty inconsistent right now.
Dynos are getting better. Went from consistently hitting around 5, then dropping, to hitting 8, several times. I think I used to hit 10 like 2 years ago though :/ Well, it will get better, regardless.
Drifters…. My record is 23. That was last month. But I got 15 tonight with better form and nice pauses between each one. Looking forward to shattering this one.
Ripwalks! Best 14 Ripwalks I've ever hit. Usually, a few are sloppy and I've hit around 20 with some sloppy sets. These were all acceptable/good-lookin, by my standards.
Blinks.. Managed 3 again and footed the 4th… AGAIN! >:( So close. Will hit 4 soon. 2 is easy now, which feels incredible to say :) I'll be stoked to push it to at least 10.
Fairy ss Mirage: Wow. Started with 2, worked up to 7! pretty stoked on these. I chose this because it's pretty similar to the Pixie ss Mirage from Week A, and that drill upped my pixie game so much.

Highlights from drill session:

 New 4 ADD on bs!!! (Which is pretty rare for me these days): Pixie ss DLO bs! These came so easily :D I was happy about that. Think they're ready for mid runs.
 Doesn't really count, but Pixie ss Eggbeater in socks. Brand new. Only 1 side. Pretty fun. Just need to do it with shoes on. No rush to get this, however.

I tried Pdx Drifter> Nuke Clipper again and somehow my arm was in a bad position and I dislocated it for a second, then it popped back in. Sharp pain to my shoulder :/ Still hurts pretty badly. Happened mid-session but I was able to finish the session with it. Hoping it just goes away.

Good night!

Had a good session with Corey Gerges tonight. We played on the tennis courts until it got dark, then moved and played under the lights of a school entrance. All together, a really fun session with good glimpses of improving. Corey hit Ducking Clipper b2b and some other stuff. He's finally listening to me when I tell him to just hit long runs with basic tricks instead of trying big tricks midrun. He had a few runs that were mostly tiltless with around 20 contacts, with a few toe bails, which looked so much better that all his short runs with 1 or 2 3 adds.

Highlights:

 Wanted to drill my repeats a bit here and there. Broke Fairy ss Mirage by 1. Now it's 8. Not displeased with it.
 Big one here: Barfry (Nuclear ss Butterfly) b2b! Couldn't believe it. Never thought I would hit that one… Also, my 2nd or 3rd Barfries today. Feeling much easier. Have to say, I felt like Johnny when I hit this… Maybe an "early Johnny" when he realized that Nukes aren't that hard :P
 Fear> Atom *rpt starting on both sides! Had an extra Fear in the seal of one side, too. Definitely stole this one from Hogan. Thanks man!
 Nucleosis BSOS
 Link midstring which was kinda nice: Torque> Drifter> stuff> Smoke
 Blender> Barfly bs
 Long runs with good variety

I'm going to try to do Nukes during every session. I really love them. I always told myself I would be good at Nukes one day, but only said I'd start messing with them when my body is ready. I'm pretty sure my body is ready.

Damn.

Really tried to play tonight. So dead from work. I also just think it was a bad day. Raining and shitty outside. Jackson came over to kick too, but he wasn't feeling it either. I'm so tired of being cooped up in an attic and drilling or trying to string. Now that I've tasted my new game in the outside air, I want more. My game feels incredibly improved when I'm outside now, compared to before winter. I found myself doing Infinities just willy nilly the other night when I kicked with Corey. I was so confident in them. I knew I wasn't going to drop them unless I got tired, which happened around 100ish I think. Didn't count them, but I thought to myself that this sort of thing wouldn't have happened just before winter. It's also nice to just be able to throw some dense links together now, without having to think about them much.

Anyway.. Session highlights:

 Tried to get my blood flowing and hit some drills a few times, like Schmoe> Magellan> Dimwalk *rpt, Pdx Illusion> Dimwalk *rpt, Drifter> Ripwalk> Ripwalk> Drifter *rpt x2, and some other junk. It's fun and makes me feel good to have control over that sorta stuff now.
 Schmoe> Fairy ss Reverse Swirl BSOS (Pretty happy with this. It was my big session goal.. small link, but linking Fairy Rev Swirls has always been a challenge for me.
 Near Blink> Fear bs & BSOS
 Revup> Fear bs

Not really much else. Like I said, legs were shot today. Session didn't last very long.

Oh and we are CONFIRMED for Nawlins Jam! So stoked! Our caravan is Mike Toolan, Doug Tank, Nadiah, and me. BUT! Breaking news about our caravan… Jackson also just confirmed himself on it :D So he'll be road tripping with us! Stoked for that too!

It's going to be a fun time. I will take tomorrow off and probably Friday too and just cross train those days.

Quick post. Gotta go to my aunt's birfday perty soon.

First off.. got new insoles, ordered new Lavers!!!!, and made a pledge that I am going to ween myself off of my shin sleeves. They make me look like a bitch and I don't want to viewed as "that guy who is injured". Plus my legs are white! :P Extreme farmer's tan lol

OH! And Jim Penske is considering coming to PSU JAMPS (April 4-6!!!) !!!!!! Mega hyped on that! So is Johnny, Dante, Mathieu G, & Ianek.

Highlights:

 FINALLY! Hit Pdx Whirl> Pdx Drifter *rpt! Been a long time coming.
 Swirling Drifter, almost BSOS.
 Spikehammer> Atomsmasher bs, almost BSOS.
 Pixie ss Symposium Mirage bs (new on both)
 Pixie ss Torque bs (new on both)

Later!

Quick indoor session tonight… I really hate indoor sessions now that I've tasted the outdoors again :/ But at least it's going to be warm tomorrow!

Anyway, hit some pretty great stuff (well, great for me)..

Highlights:

 Reverse Swirl> Blurry Whirl *rpt
 Blurry Drifter BSOS!!! First time I sauced it. Felt easy!
 Easiest Voids I've hit bs
 Blurry Drifter> Ripwalk bs!!! Both of the runs had Blurry Drifter BSOS, but I couldn't manage to step out of the last one either time. Still hyped on this!
 Blurry Drifter> Dyno bs
 Some killer runs. Many many 5's and some 6's. Pretty stoked on that.

Oh and I might as well mention that I have started to film for a new video. I'm calling it my "Vide-WHOA", because the stuff in it will surely be great. Remember that list of goals I made during the New Year? I've listed them all on my whiteboard and have started filming them. I got one crossed off the other day. Haven't blogged about it because I blog about literally everything I hit :P But these will be the best drills/links/stuff I hit all in one video. Hoping to get chomping on it once the nice weather shows up.

Jamps!

Nawlins!

Kicked with Jeremy, Corey, and a new dude, Jonah, tonight. Jeremy is getting his shred legs in order again. Corey was doing some ok runs. Still going for bigger tricks instead of small trick - long runs. Jonah got Inside Kick> Toe Stall bs, but he has a weird knee problem which ended his session early. He wants to play with us more, but also wants to play by himself first and try to strengthen up his knee.

I hit some cool stuff tonight.

Highlights:

 Near Jughandle! Brand new, hit it from toe before, but it was flukey. I think I get them now. Only hit one side, but I'll work on them. They're fun.
 Inspired by Matt Kemmer & Johnny Suderman: Whirling Reverse Swirl! Brand new for me
 Some concepts are really starting to take off, like Double Spinning, Inspinning, and Stepping Ducking. Had some solid midrun stuff using these.
 Whirling ss Cloud kick> ss Legover BSOS in a dank run.
 Toe Ingyro Mirage b2b (session ender… pretty happy with this) Pretty tough, took a few tries. Definitely need to work on Inspinning, in general

Pretty tired from work today, so I only had a few good runs, but I was pretty pleased, overall.

Hit another sick sick SICK goal off the ol' whiteboard. Got it on video. You can't see it yet :P

However, you can watch me set my Ducking Clipper record during that same session.. Old record was 15. I was happy about that.

Eventually, I want to push it to 100.

Ben: I almost always have no clue what the fuck you're talking about. At least it's not like Marc, where I have no clue what movie he's quoting..

Hi blog. I have been playing a lot and improving. Been feeling more and more comfortable with big tricks in casual shred. I've been filming some pretty BAP-worthy junk. Stuff that people see Landes do and go "UGHH!", so once I finish the video I've been working on, it will be interesting what people say. I'm really excited to go to some jams really soon where no one has any idea what I've been drilling/learning.

Since I've last posted, I certainly have dialed a few things in for the most part.. also improved some old concepts, and learned some very new concepts.

I like keeping it all a mystery. I heard that's what Sunil would do, so I thought it would be fun to try out for once.

Just to keep some excitement going, I did hit 5 Fearless the other day, without even having to think about any of it.

I am also keeping a very big secret, which is hard to not let leak out, because it's probably the most exciting news I've received in footbag, but the time isn't ready for that part yet.

It's weird not blogging my last session because it's easily some of the best stuff I've ever hit… all from 1 session. But Jamps is coming in a week and a half now, and I'm so ready for it.

I remember the second PSU Jamps when Jay came, I tried to hang with him and Pipenberg, but I just couldn't do it. Spinning Clipper> Spikehammer> Butterfly> Ducking Clipper drop… This time, it's not going down like that…

Also, just stoked to meet all the new players and shred with everyone again/for the first time. SO MANY attendees for Jamps this year. I'm excited to teach some footbag, give some tips, and maybe get some tips. I really want some Nuke/Fairy/Atomic tips from Johnny and Whirl tips from Jim.

Also, everyone should say a prayer or cross fingers for Ivan.. He hurt his back pretty badly a few days ago and I'm really hoping it heals in time for Jamps. The positive vibes we have circulating, the more potential there is to help him.

Damn, then there's NOLA Jam. Mark is the shit for hosting this. So stoked for it. Can't wait to shred with Mark again. He was awesome the first time I met him at ECFC a few years ago, but we didn't get to hang out at all, so I'm looking forward to that too.

Also, Ken gave me a challenge when he found out I was going to NOLA… Beat him in competition. I plan on doing that, or at least giving him a run for his money. I look at this as kind of like beating Gnasty Gnorc from Spyro The Dragon. When you beat Gnasty Gnorc, you know your shit is good and you deserved to beat him, because he was a bitch to kill. I spent most of my childhood running around that castle trying to flame his ass… anyway, I'm gonna flame Ken's ass :P Jams will help prepare me for that. I shouldn't have drank a cup of coffee right before bed. This was supposed to be a really short post. Oh well..

Here's to beating Gnasty Gnorc.

I've been keeping a lot quiet recently, but I'd mark down some of my highlights recently… The really BAP-worthy ones I still want to keep secret.

Highlights from March:

 Spinning Ducking Osis> Vortex *rpt
 Spinning Ducking Osis> Gyro Diving Osis *rpt
 Dyno> Gyro Dyno BSOS
 Fixed my flipside Stepping Ducking sets (Jeremy Mellor helped me with this). So hopefully all Alpine Stepping hell will break loose at Jamps this weekend.
 A sick 5> 6 bs (which I've never seen anyone do in a video) that I really wanna wait to reveal on camera in the video.
 Great link tonight: Whirling Cloud Kick> ss Legover> Swerve> Inspinning Osis (stolen from Flash)
 Pdx Blender> Void bs
 Motion> Pdx Blender bs
 Spitfire> Swirl BSOS (stolen from Nick L)

Hit some other stuff recently, but I still wanna keep some stuff a secret :P Just wanted to contribute to the footblogs section again.

Nadiah's birthday is Monday, but we're celebrating tomorrow. Pretty excited for it. She wants to kick too, so we'll probably end up doing that too.

Oh, also, recently bought a good hiking/geocaching GPS. Super sick. I can't wait to use it for some caches around the area. I guess some people hid some new ones around here during the nice weather in the past weeks.

Getting really stoked for Jamps and NOLA. I'm a dixie cup of water away from literally pissing my pants with joy and anticipation.
