Asmus wrote:Me and the rest of the club have just taken the initial steps to host Worlds in 2015. This is of course a long process and many things can happen that will make it impossible to do. Here are the main threats as I see them:
- Location
There is only one location in Copenhagen that I wanna do Worlds at and that is the best one. I have a connection, they are interested and we are gonna have a meeting. But getting a huge gym for free(or close to free) is problematic even in a semi-socialist country like Denmark.
- Funding
Even with the location for free and the money from the registration fee hosting Worlds is expensive. When Copenhagen hosted Euros in 2004 the club had a huge tele-company backing it. I don't think we will be able to pull something like that off. Public funding will not get us all the way.
- Winning the bid
Worlds this year will be in Europe. It usually goes back and forth between Northen America and Europe and the late decision this year makes it even harder for NAs to go than it usually is. A strong bid from NA will be hard to compete with for next year.

As far as I see it this is the last chance for Denmark to host a big tournament in a foreseeable future. People are getting too old for that kinda stuff.
*crosses fingers*

I will try to share as much of this process as I can in here without burning any bridges.
I think these things should be more open and public to the footbag scene.
It will be great to see the whole process. We don't see enough of the "background" work in the blogs and things. It may be boring for some to read, but if nobody is doing that work, then there are no competitions, so then people stop training, and then the sport dies.

I think Copenhagen would be a cool city for Worlds, though personally I would like to see the Northern Hemisphere cycle broken. I am going to talk to the guys from Colombia and see if they want to put in a bit. I think Medellin is the best potential city in South America, they have net players, they have freestyle, they had the South American Games there in 2010, so the city is always wanting to have new world level events to use those facilities.

South American Champs there were pretty good for players, though not so much in terms of crowd. I think a world level event could be a different story. I think they are having worlds for both BMX and ultimate frisbee there next year. Just had a quick chat with one of the guys, and a 2016 bid could work well.

I think the bidding process needs some "friendly" competition, just like you have in the actual playing of the sport.

South America would definitely be cool. I hope it happens in a not too distant future.

We are still having video month in FootbagDenmark. Most of it will either not interest you guys or is secret.
But here is a couple I think you will all like:

Nikolai Lorenzen, 2*Danish Champion and one of my favorite styles.

Here is an old Mathias Blau video:

Legendary routine from Mads Neuhard. Hole's reactions are priceless.

This is my first footbag video from 2004. First after making this video I released I was holding my stalls for way too long.

Thursday session was filled with mixed emotions. My ankle is still causing trouble and I think I might have pushed it too hard.

Another thursday another footbag getaway.
In attendance: Jan, Troels, Andreas, Jasper, Nis, Kim and yours unruly.

Ankle is still giving me problems. I have to take a break again I think but I wanna get back in semi-shape for my Berlin trip. April 15th - Gonna be great even with a ankle weak as foreskin.
I did have one highlight - Twirl bsos first try. Everybody else went super hard. Definitely a good session.

On wednesday me and Kim went to this meeting at a primary school. We got a new 3 hour indoor practice spot on mondays. Yoga room. Great stuff.
Image
They even gave us each a tote bag and a t-shirt.

Speaking of giving Kim made me a bike for almost no money. Here is a photo:

Thanks Kim - you are a gentleman among beasts!

Next time on Rich Homie Quantum: Having way too many projects going on, more Berlin hype and maybe an update on update on Worlds 2015..

Berlin (leaving on tuesday!)
I think I might not be getting into any shred in Berlin. Matthias Lino is injured and I have a feeling that Jakob Wagner has trouble balancing his new life of being a dad, a footbagger, one of the best dancers ever and a international man of mystery. Mathias Blau will probably be in Berlin as well, but I will play with him tomorrow, so I think I might take a break instead. It kinda sucks but my ankle does really need it.

Euros in Turku
I think I am the only Dane going (seems like everybody else rather wanna go to Worlds - probably because it is easier to convince your significant other to go to Paris than Finland). This means I have to find other roommates.. Hmnm.. Any ideas? They do not have to go with my former “90% party / 10% footbag”-philosophy, but they do need to be there to take it all in.

Worlds 2015
I have just sent out the initial e-mail to the location where we wanna do Worlds. This is an extremely important step as we are not interested in doing Worlds if this is not the location. I have good contact but still i need you guys to cross your sticky fingaz.

BSOS.IT
The site is of to a great start in my humble opinion. And more importantly I am really excited about people getting in touch wanting to write or contribute in other ways. You, reader, are also very welcome to contact me directly if you have ideas, photos, articles, videos or anything else you want to get up on the site. If you haven’t checked it out go do it!

Speaking of BSOS I have way too many projects going on. It’s all stuff I really wanna do but it’s gonna be a busy summer. I look forward to share more of them with you - footbag related or not.

I wonder if the big homie Aleksi Air Airinen reads my blog as well..

THUURRRRRSSDAY!
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2aDHUa35FE[/youtube]
In attendance: Mathias Blau, Kim Mortensen, Nis Petersen, Jasper Johansen and Andreas Hald

First actual highlights in a while:
- PLO > Magellan [rpt] > Dimwalk > Blurry Legover > Pixie Legover [rpt] > Pixie Drop
- Think I invented a weird trick - saving it for a video idea have.
My ankle is feeling good today so I am definitely gonna bring my shred gear with me to Berlin.

Mathias went in today. I really liked Frankenstein > Revup > Pixie Symple Swirl [bs] and Flip Fairy Mobius

Here is a run from one of the last times he visited:

Hello everybody!

Time for an update from the land of vikings, lego and free health care.

Berlin was super sick but got a little shorter than expected since my grandmother passed away.
Was able to have a good time anyways.

Jakob Wagner and friends have rented a nine storey apartment building for artist studios, workshops and such.
It is sick as hell. This video is filmed there:
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oVyqUbCa-8[/youtube]
Bummed that I missed out on those sessions. Next time! I will be back soon.

I also went to Matthias Lino Schmidt’s 30th birthday party. A very good party and it was nice to see some of the old Footstars that i haven’t seen in years. Made me feel lucky that I have friends all over the world because of footbag. Here is a photo of Yves and Mathias Blau from the party:
Image

I finally got around to sending the first formal mail to the location where we wanna host Worlds. Still waiting to hear back from them. Please keep your fingers crossed.

BSOS.IT is starting to take off - decent amount of visitor’s and a lot of people getting in touch wanting to contribute. We are always looking for videos, articles and anything you can think of so please get in touch if you have any ideas or content laying around.

Can’t wait to play footbag tomorrow!

Don't worry about the Anus-thing. People actually used to call me that when I was youngin.
Happy that people are enjoying BSOS! And please feel free to send in any video you got. We can hash out the details on facebook.
I am sure we will shred together sooner than later!

As previously stated I was really looking forward to shred on monday. Firstly, it had been a while and secondly we were having the first session at our new indoor spot. I was feeling a little under the weather so I didn't go but apparently the spot was absolutely amazing! More about that when I actually go there myself.

I did have a small (20 mins) solo session though. Started slowly working on the LEVEL 1 BADGE. Some parts of it is gonna be ridiculously hard for me but I think it will do great things to my game to work on these things.

Our indoor spot was closed yesterday but that turned out to be a good thing. Instead we had the first official outdoor session of the year. Kim, Andreas, Troels and I played and Nis, Lise, Nikolai and a bunch of significant others came through and hung out.

Andreas hit Symposium Whirl, Reverse Whirling Gyro Toe and a lot of other cool stuff. Troels hit Blizzard and is gonna be better than me soon if I don’t get to work.

I had a couple of small highlights:
- Diving Whiz [bs]
- Reverse Whirl > Reverse Whirling Rake [bs]
- No ankle pain
It has fucked up my crank quite a bit though. I need to work on fixing that.

The long danish winter kinda makes you forget how epic it is to play outside. Stoked that Summer of Footbag 2014 have finally started!

What you see above is a pretty shitty picture of our new indoor spot on mondays. It is epic! Soft floor in one clear color for cushion and maximum bagspotability. Big panorama windows for great natural light and soon build-in speakers. I am super excited about this! Not only is at a great spot, it also means I have no excuses to not play twice a week.

In attendance: Troels “Adonis” Westh, Kim “The Duke” Mortensen, Jan “The Man” Birkel, Nis “NZA” Petersen and Asmoomin Helms

My highlights:
I played well when I focused. I can taste a level up on the way if I stick to playing twice a week.
- Stepping Ducking Clipper > Run with with Both Ripwalks and a Blurry Osis
- Dimwalk > Blurry Legover > Pixie Legover [rpt] > Magellan > Pixie Legover [rpt] > DATW
- Ended the session with a Food Processor

Worlds 2015
We finally heard back from the location where we want Worlds to be held at. They are very interested and wants to have a meeting with us next week. This might actually happen!

In attendance: Kim, Nis, Troels, Anders and Me, Myself and I.

It was a really fun session! Everybody was feeling it and people were in a great move. First we played to this DJ mix which I think is absolutely amazing but people really hated.

My highlights:
Blur > Dimwalk [rpt] run with Ripwalk [bsos]
Terrage > Quantum Legover [rpt] run with DATW [bsos]

Afterwards we had a beer and did a improvised footbag quiz. Kim asked the following question “What trick did Alês invent at a train station and named after the station? I couldn’t remember the trick name but I did get the trick right. Do any of you guys know?

I bought a new computer for a couple of reasons. 1. My old one was dying 2. I am rich 3. I wanna start doing shred videos. I have a video camera and I studied Multimediadesign. I can’t wait to get started.
Here is a skate video I really like:

Ken is absolutely right. And thanks for the comments shredders!

I was thinking that some of you probably don't know who half the people I write about in here are. So I did small "business cards" for the most important ones. Here comes the first half:

The Originators

The Board

The Veterans

The New-comers

Today we had my second weekly monday practice. In attendance were Me, Troels, Nis, and Jasper(who will be the on the next round of business cards).
They finally installed speakers and they were super sick. Just connect with bluetooth and a bangin' sound system - how sweet is that?

Nobody was feeling super hot and Jasper stopped early because he overstretched something in his leg.

My highlights:
DLO > PLO > Butterfly [rpt]
Ended the session with a bunch of 20+ runs with a lot of good stuff [bsos]

What country was the first outside of USA to have a member in the Hall of Fame?

Nobody was able to answer the trivia? I thought it was easy. No new question this time then.

New Vid
Jan (The Man) made a sweet new shred video from our sessions this spring. This will further help putting faces (and legs) on some of the people metioned in this blog. It also excellently show how much of a good time we have in the club.
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUhjD7ahT3E[/youtube]

Thursday Session
I played outside on thursday with Verena, Troels and Andreas. Troels and Andreas are getting so good. Stoked to see where they will take their gamez this summer. It was also a pleasure to have Verena back. I didn’t play very well but had fun.

Plans for the Summer

Right now the plan is not to go to Worlds and instead stay in Finland and have some fun after Euros. This seems to be the best plan. I’ve been to Paris multiple times. Never been to Helsinki. Euros looks well organised, little worried about Worlds. French crew focuses on Net. Finland focuses on both Net and Freestyle. The French are getting too old to party - Finns never get too old to party.

Worlds 2015 in Denmark
Me and Nis had the initial meeting with the spot where we wanna host it. They where extremly interested and the spot is even better than I thought it were. I think it’s actually gonna happen. :O

Monday Session
Another monday - another funday. Me, Jan and Nis had a little session. Jan was playing well and hit Tomahawk for the first time. Me and Nis was not really feeling it. I had had a rough day at work and we started out playing with a bag I didn’t like at all. Plenty of excuses. The session did however give me a chance to test out the camera I won in a tombola back in December and now I finally have a computer I can edit the footage on. So here is a lil video with two crap runs and a tour of the new indoor spot with a cameo from Nis’ wife:
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1FrB0KHRJQ[/youtube]Quality isn’t amazing but it does the trick and it should be better in better lightning.

Danish Champs 2015
Even though most of our focus right now is on Worlds 2015, we still gotta have a Danish Championship this year. In Copenhagen there is this big indoor and outdoor activity area dedicated to street sports called GAME. I have been wanting to get involved with them for ages, but for some reason the rest of the board aren’t that into it. Finally, I have gotten them convinced that we at least should check it out so I sent GAME a mail about the possibility of having Danish Champs there in a month or so. Here is a little video about the place and their activities:
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFkCCztdfJI[/youtube]
Google Hangout
There was some talk about doing a footbag podcast a while back. John Stalberger actually did one. I've been wanting to do something like this and I was thinking it could be done easily with Google Hangouts. What do people think?

Looks like a perfect thing to be part of. Good audiences already there, could be a pretty fun time. I think the key to podcasts etc is that they keep going and going (not at the same time, they shouldn't really be too long), but the series continues on. I enjoyed John's podcasts when he was doing them, and have enjoyed doing some radio stuff this year.

You could also just embed the podcasts inside your site as well, and then have them as "articles".

Had a nice session in the sun yesterday with Verena, Troels, Andreas and Nis. Jasper also came by to say what’s up. The summer is finally here!

Highlights
Ducking Legover > DOD [rpt]
Symple Swirl bsos
Blurry Pickup > Fairy Butterfly > Blurry Reverse Whirl > Osis > Run

Troels hit his first Symposium Mirage, Verena hit a lot of 5s (ex: a super good looking PS Whirl), Nis wasn’t really feeling it and Andreas footed Neo Muted Reverse Swirl twice.

Here is an old Mads Hole video of Anssi and K-Regs playing at our outdoor spot.

Rasmus is visiting Copenhagen from Amsterdam right now. Looking forward to catch beers and catching up with him tomorrow.
