IJA Festival

Hey Canadian/American footbag enthusiasts, I have contacted the IJA (Internal Jugglers Association) and we are very welcome to take part of their annual Festival, where we can have our own competitions, offer workshops, have someone be part of the welcome show, etc. This year the IJA Festival is held in West Lafayette, between Chicago and Indianapolis. This is the same week as Worlds, July 28th-August 3rd, so if you can’t go to Worlds this is a good option. Registration is 229$ before June 30th and 259$ at the door,which is not cheap but it seems very well organized. Here is what you get for your money: 24h open gym, free workshops, free welcome show, free ‘’professional’’ show at the end of the week, competitions, good prices on dorms, and hanging out for a week with about 300 jugglers. I’ll also try to have the footbag competition schedule be from Wednesday through Saturday, so it’s more convenient for people with a tighter budget or schedule. Main competitions will be Battle (a new variation of Circle) and Request. I’ll also organize workshops to help novice/intermediate players and some kind of a show with elite players.

My goal with this is to have the IJA Festival becoming the ‘’big’’ annual event in North America. This way nobody from footbag would have to spend time/effort/money organizing an event as everything we need is there already, we just need 2-3 volunteers to run our competitions. If this idea takes off, Europeans can do the same thing, someone just has to contact the EJA (European Juggling Association).
