7 New Challenges Hit

Here's How it went down. I woke up to the sound of lavers hitting the floor in attempt to hit mirage. So it was time to wake up and go encourage and educate Sabastian. A few days I had given him an option: 1) You may clean or 2) you can practice footbag. He chose to clean. I told him, "I'm gonna tell Nick Polini that you chose cleaning over footbag!" But naw, it was cool to hear that he decided to bust out the bag first thing in the morning. He almost accidentally hit rake (because he didn't know how to do mirage accurately yet) and some other trick which escapes me at the moment. As you can see, he almost kind of got it. I'll show him some tutorial videos on mirage because I'm not the only teacher there is.

Then it was me and him swtiching on and off of the camera for ten minute sesh's each.

Challenge B32: 99 Alternating consecutive Toe Stall and honestly, AINT NOBODY GOT TIME TO WATCH THAT! Besides, it's not really a challenge anymore. Just had to get it out of the way.
Challenge B36: Eggbeater, which I THINK IS what I did there. If that really was it, it wasn't much of a challenge either, but it was fun to do! I can see incorporating this into my shred. This was second attempt.
Challenge B16: Legover>Illusion>Rpt. I kept missing legover, perhaps I wasn't warmed up. Here, I began to try to continue to freestyle after I completed the mission. I'm not good at shred without a plan. 3 contacts and stick a fork in me.
Challenge B17: Legover>Illusion>Orbit>Rpt. I wasn't hitting the first orbit at ALL, But when I finally did, I completed the entire string.
Challenge 2: Mirage>Legover>Rpt>Illusion>Pickup>Rpt. I was given this before my injury and I tried like the dickens to hit it, but my brain couldn't comprehend going from illusion to pickup back then. I barely comprehended it this time either.
Challenge B9: Far Legover>Legover>Clipper>Rpt>Near Legover>Same Legover>Clipper>Rpt. Again, I tried to keep going, but it was like eyewear, 2 contacts.
Challenge 1D: Osis x 4. Ho, LEE, FRICK. This is difficult for me because I am not good at spotting osis, or catching it correctly (it usually lands on my ankle) or turning correctly because I'm huge. This was the highlight of my sesh for sure.
Bonus move: Double switchover maybe?>clipper roll to opposite toe, totally intentional of course (not)

I Think this is what's going to happen:

I will leave the practice of footbag behind until I am *** lbs. Because I'm seriously injured again. Im hurting myself by going as big as I do, which isn't big but on the other hand, I certainly am. I'm kinda stuck. I know I could be pretty good with a slender bod. My only fear is that i quit practicing so that I can get in shape, and I lose sight of why. *sigh*

Dude that sucks ass! I think if you love the game that much then it should motivate you to lose the weight. I agree that you could be really good if you slimmed down. Don't see why you can't at least incorporate some kicking into your weight loss regime. Good cardio and should help. Just stay away from the big tricks for now. Btw, what did you injure? My fucking jumpers knee has flared up again. Not sure how I'll do at Jamps. Can't really do anything flipside for now. Good luck. I know you can do this!

Lower back, can't barely walk, can't juggle, let alone footbag. Hopefully it goes away. =) I better see the chiropractor.

Sorry to hear it Paul. Hoping it heals up soon. And with some weight loss, I really think you could be an excellent shredder. You learn quick. It's very apparent.

My footbag teacher, Bob Reifer, used to be a little over weight (he even said so himself) and he said it was lie shredding while holding 2 gallons of milk. I can only imagine how it feels. You seemed to do a good job dealing with it though, aside from injuries. I hope you can push yourself to go through with it. You'll be so much happier once you reach your goal and will be able to shred freely for the first time.

And with regards to not losing sight of footbag while you are losing weight.. just remember that this isn't just a sport that you do. You have friends, like us, in it too. Friends can get you through some hard stuff. If you even footblog your weight loss progress, we will be with you the entire way, encouraging you, pushing you through to your goal.

I don't think you have to quit playing in order to avoid getting injured.

Why don't you just practice the easier/lower impact 1 and 2 adds? I know it's not the most exciting stuff but it will help you improve at footbag and manage your weight. I doubt you will get hurt hitting 500 1 adds but it will certainly burn calories.

I've thought of that milk jug analogy before too, must be accurate. Yeah Cass, ive considered that too, and if I heal up, I doubt ill be able to.stay away from footbag especially since I Continue to watch footbag vids and I want and KNOW I can be so much better. Back inthe day I thought tiltless was dumb. Tiltless is fun, good, necessary and the best training ive ever had in footbag. Correctly modded shoes and tiltless practice and seeing footbag live and the community are the greatest things that improved my game a thousand fold, and I'm not even that good yet. The one last toughest thing remains and then I think I'll be on my way to actually being able to truly hang with all of yall in a circle. But dude(ette)... I just watched this vid and I wanna shred:

I told you I wouldn't be able to stay away. I was able to align my spine and I was virtually instantly better in about 24 hours. So I HAD to shred. Not to mention I've released about 30 lbs since I began footbag again. Sesh highlight was lots of DLOs and DLO>illusion and other tiltless runs with 3s. I guess my secret sesh with Jorden helped my game after my injury recovery...

Cass, EpicLOL! thank you, it's not like you had a sesh with my footbag hero or anything. Not Jelly. On a related note, pigs have sprouted wings and now have the ability to fly.

Kish, Sabastian doesn't really practice unless I do, and since I've been out of footbag or walking for that matter, he hasn't really done anything. Footbag has yet to move from his head and into his heart.

Awesome to see you're healed up and shredding again. The "Super Bap" hand catch was funny.

I noticed that you sometimes forget to set for your Near Mirages. The Clipper kind of just flops and doesn't set very high, possibly because you're paying more attention to the Mirage than the set(?)

Game is looking really tight. I agree with what Cassy said though. The further you go down into your basics and drill, the better gold you will come back to the surface with. Drilling 1 ADDs is always a good idea to really fine tune your form.

Seriously glad to see you're healed dude. Stay healthy and injury-free.

The low clipper set for near mirage is intentional. Its fun to fall into mirage that way. I tried to incorporate less near mirages and more paradoxical mirages. I'm also sick of legover. It's always a bail. Never intentional. I guess that's a good thing. I've been wondering, "what is the secret to shred?" As opposed to drills... drills I get, shred I don't. I guess I'll have to wait until I have tons of moves in my arsenal to be able to impromptu shred, that makes sense, because now all I do is drill, or limited shred, a few tiltless tricks with some 3's and a drop. Now that I'm down thirty lbs, maybe in another 100 down, shred will not be a mystery. Kthxbai

Re: MetZelRio #Grand Rapids Sesh#

Post by MetZelRio »

I guess there is an actual drill name for superBAP: OneTouch drill. it's no biggie, but then again, for a player of my ability, IT'S SOMETHING! Not only that but it didn't take me one or two tries. If you pay close attention to the beginning of my superbap video, you can hear me say "I CAN do this" .... (hit it) "superBAP!" lol, at first i was doing pdx mirage>butterfly>rpt, the reverse of what is required... hit that a few times, then found out i didnt make it into superBAP. Maybe I made it into PABrepus.

SESH IN GRAND RAPIDS TOMORROW! woot! I think I will bring the cam and make a grand rapids sesh vid, not just of me either. maybe not even of me.. YAH knows what will happen.

A good challenge after the SuperBAP is

Butterfly -> Pdx Illusion -> repeat

without hitting your knees.

I'm on it. Is there a drill name for it? I see "antique drill" which is the reverse of what you said. Maybe then this drill can be called "modern drill" or "euqitna" ?

MetZelRio BEST SESH OF MY LIFE

Post by MetZelRio »

BEST SESH OF MY LIFE!! Went to have an EXERCISE ONLY sesh, so no camera. Decided to hit 20 tiltless, and hit 23 tiltless. I messaged Vince to tell someone I beat my record. He then had the nerve to ask me if I could do drifter, which I knew I couldn't because I'm too obese. So I gave it a few attempts and told him NOPE. And Vince said, thats not why I'm not hitting it. He said something about we should hit that trick, and for some reason, I DECIDED, RIGHT THERE, to hit it. And went to go practice and this is what happened after I DECIDED:

Drifter BS x ?? (to tiltless strings)
Torque x 8 (OMGOSH DREAM TRICK)
butterfly rake bs
Diving rake
Blur (footed flip 8 times)
Footed blizzard
Plus my 23 tiltless new record.
Maybe other stuff too, because I'm too stoked

Messaging Vince the whole time, even called the dude VinJournal. Ain't that right dawg?
