Re: david owen beyers
Cool meeting you too Aaron.
Had another practice sesh today. It was super windy but still fun. I was practicing swirl from clipper. I hate this trick. more tiltless. drifter>far legover repeat. Mercon>drifter bs. I hit waux spin bs. First for my flip. I hit this bruce dolish trick thats like a far dyno but the dex happens more uptime. practiced whirls also
Footbag is a fun sport. I love watching them vids on youtube. Here is what I just watched:
Young Milan hits this really wacky trick at 3:55. It looks like a blazing swivel, but the swivel looks like a symp reverse whirl. So its like a blazing behind the back symp reverse whirl. Thats awesome
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r63I4aC6YyQ
Madness! this guy is one of my favorite footbag players. He goes so big

Third day playing in a row!
started session kicking it 100 times, did 100 toe stalls, 50 clipper bs, all of these were not b2b but not single trick either. Just trying to get the muscle memory
decided to video a little. My i-pod died while filming. This is probably good cuz i got to drill more, which I really need. I also added some clips that I filmed last season but never put on the web

after the camera died:
barfly bsos
toe dyno>dyno
other shiz
ended sessions hitting 50 osis, 50 infinity, 50 mirage bs, all of these were also not b2b but not single trick either. Again, trying to get the muscle memory

Re: david owen beyers
played 5 days in a row last week. Haven't done that in a long time and it felt good. Friday I practiced while my friends played basketball. Just worked on basics again.
Saturday I played with Drew, Mikey, and Greg at Washington Square Park. We got rained out but still managed to fit 2 and a half hours of hack in. My game did not feel totally solid but I still had a fun time anyway. It was fun to shred with the club instead of practice on my own. I was getting some three contact shuffle mid string a couple o times. I hit stepping same legover>pixie same legover>pixie whirl.
other highlights:
-terrage>drifter
-duh-lusion
-double switch>symple reverse swirl
-mobius
-pswhirl bs
-at the end of the session while it started to rain, a bummish fellow asked if i could string out of pswhirl. He phrased it like, " you think you can catch it on your feet after that trick instead of catching it in your hand." First try, i hit pswhirl and hit osis out of it, the string ended on scorpions tail. I think it was a four contact string but it was still cool to hit two 5's for the last string (and to be encouraged by a bum)

Re: david owen beyers
Just had a little session
mostly drillin, practicing flip pixies, flipside tiltless
i hit, on strong side, pixie same leg over>pixie mirage>pixie butter
ripwalk>crispy drifter>mercon
gyro mirage>ducking clipper>gyro pickup bs i think
gyro clipper>whirl>gyro clipper>whirl
peek>zooming spinning clipper>gyro clipper
AND FINALLY... I HIT WHIRLING SWIRL!!!!!!!!
cant express how pumped I am for hitting this. I hit it from clipper and supper clean. This has been a dream trick of mine for a while. I got that "hitting a new trick feeling" that Kenny Schults talks about in Tricks o the trade 2. I havent gotten that feeling in a while from footbag, so that was cool!
I've also been dreaming up this 12 trick combo that i want to hit.
barrage>dlo>pixie same mirage>paradon>ducking butter>whirl>crispy drifter>reverse whirl>drifter>ducking leg over>symple reverse swirl>torque
I practiced the links for it today but am no where near linking the whole thing together. Hopefully summer, it will be mine.
On a side note: my lavers are starting to get shitty. the right side of my right laver is losing support and hurts my foot when i play. god damn. We need some shoes

Re: david owen beyers
had a another basics day. It feels like I'm getting more consistent with it so that's cool. Anticipating riverock. Shits going to be off the chain. I also filmed a sick three after my session today for that contest thingy. Not my hardest tricks, but kindof a funky 3 trick combo. Going to be cool to see who else participated in that shiz.

Re: david owen beyers
I had the opportunity to paint a bathroom in brooklyn at this place called Shea Stadium (cool music venue, not the baseball stadium)! The last day that I was in brooklny, I also had a footbag sesh with Mikie, Ben, and April. Ben and April were in town to see some music. Everything worked out great, and we had a sweet circle.
Mikie hit ripped warrior and rubberman for the first time (Def not the last)!!!!
Ben and Aprils games keep lookin better everytime i play with them. cooooool
I hit my second 5>5 ever... pheonix>motion
I feel like i can throw a pswhirl at the end of that to have 3 fearless
I also felt like the rust from the off season is wearing off!!!
Riverock tomorrow!!!!!! Ryan Thomas for life!
Here is a video of the mural that i painted. I supplied the monsters and my friend kate made the bomb patterns

Re: david owen beyers
Cool mural dude.
Also, I didn't want to reply to your last post about river rock, because I didn't want to deliver the bummer of a news bit that I wouldn't be there until I actually KNEW I wouldn't. But I will be! Ivan too! We'll see you there. Just Saturday though. Better than nothin'.
Cant wait to see some Whirling Swirls and Zioders from you! Peace man

Re: david owen beyers
Thanks Bros,
so Riverrock is done and I'm wishing it wasn't. Seriously, such a fun time. It went too fast. Drew and I left friday from brooklyn at 2pm. 9 hours later we made it to richmond. Sooo much traffic, accidents, bullshit. But thats all good, cuz we made it. That night we got something to eat at an ale house and then went back to the hotel.
The next morning, Doug Tank, Anton, and I went to the hot tub before going to the festival. Pretty awesome except the hot tub was really dirty. The three of us went to the festival and shreded in front of these drummers (bucket/symbol players). It was cool that Doug Tank was there. I haven't seen that guy in a long time, and he was playing super consistent. Hitting a lot of swirls in all different ways. From far toe, near toe, clipper, butterfly swirl, reverse ones. And Anton... Jeesh, this guy is a shred machine. In this three man session I hit two new moves.
left toe>reverse swirl (on right clipper) Thanks Doug
Flying atomic set leg over
We took a break to save some energy for the other peeps. When they arrived, we found a shady spot on some concrete slabs. I played such a long time, and as hard as I could. I always try to do this at tournaments. Nick Polini was rippin it up! His alpine game is getting really strong. Every string this guy had seemed to have an alpine trick in it. Also, hes a fiend for blinks. HIs reaction to hitting the 5 mobius was great also. Seeing Dan Greer freestyle was cool too. He hit a paradox whirling swirl. Great Trick! Some highlights I had from this span of time included:
zoided muted whirl
flying toe spining osis (First time and at the end of a string spontaneously)
symposium blink>paradon
a run with terrage>drifter, barrage>whirl, and a reverse simple swirl that i spun out of
a lot of fun runs
I played until a point where i could hardly hit around the world and then stopped. My right leg was messed up, but it was worth playing. Being hungry, I waited on a food truck line for about an hour and got an alligator poe boy. I made it back intime to take the group photo. You can see me holding my sandwhich in the pic.
After the shred peeps broke off into different groups, and got food. Me and Doug ended up going to a British style pub place. I got bangers and mash. Later that night we ended up at Durfees. It was a lot of fun! Played ping pong. Watched Ryan Thomas own at the pong. He has as much grace playing ping pong as he does footbag. Dan Greer's attitude is always ridiculous. Good Times
Final Day at Riverrock.
We played in the same spot as the day before. Ryan Thomas was killing it! It was nice to see Ryan playing at a high level. Really cool combos. He jumps really high to hit certain moves (dada curve). A run that really stood out for me was when he stepped outof dada curve. I was happy to still be able to play. I was able to have some fun runs and hit some cool single tricks.
I hit
stepping same reverse whirl. I think that may have been my first time hitting it.
The last day that we were in Richmond, my friends in the bands Baked and Titus Andronicus just so happened to be 5 minutes away from the event site. They are on a tour and by coincidence we were in the same state at the same time. So, Drew and I said whats up to them, got some bbq, and bounced.
Riverrock is the bomb jam! I would suggest going next year if you did not attend this time. I saw so many dogs, interesting sports, and had an amazing time.

Re: david owen beyers
Modded the new red lavers and had a mini seshion.
The new lavers make footbag doable. However, they are definately more clunky and the heaviness made me super tired. As nick said, drifters take a lot of effort.

Dude, you know Titus Andronicus??? They're awesome and I may or may not have smoked an illicit herb with the bassist's sister back in college.
I was super inspired by your game last weekend. It was off hook. Crazy tech nonsensical leg motions you're throwing down these days. Krupp it up.

Re: david owen beyers
Yeah dude! I met the dudes from Titus during the week before the jam while i was painting that mural. It woulda been so cool if they played richmond the saturday of riverock instead of sunday.
Thanks for digging ma game Nick. Trying to have fun and play hard. Your game is exploding son. Im def inspired by your motivation and progression so... you keep it up as well!
