Re: david owen beyers
Thanks for the RR writeup. Sounds like an awesome time. It's weird to me that you didn't even mention the weird gdlo xbd toe kick trick you hit in this vid at the 3 min mark:

That was totally my favorite.

Re: david owen beyers
That's just the kinda shit boats does. And why his game rawks.
Re: david owen beyers
I am becoming a big fan of your game! More footage please!
Re: david owen beyers
Thanks asmus, ken, and cass
Ken, yeah, I probs shoulda mentioned that trick. I think it was the first time i hit it. I love how Ivan filmed it with the dog>outoffocus>me hitting trick in slow motion. Its a gyro tousani around the world. Tousani atw is a soccer trick. Its like a pickupping flying atomic kick. weird ass timing. I wonder if anyone else has ever hit that gyro with a footbag. I know that Honza and Vasek are soccer freestyle dudes now (and footbagers of course), so i wouldnt be surprised if they hit it also. Its cool that he got me hitting a double allusion on camera also, even though someone is infront of the camera for it.
Asmus, I will try and film some more. Def going to submit something for the wierd link comp
I had a session today with my friend Chris. He is a skateboarder, and super quick learner for footbag. I was teaching him clippers, atw, toe same mirage, mirage, the basics he needs to get good. This guy has a lot of potential and he was hitting pixie set without even knowing what he was doing. He was trying mirage and it was turning into pixie mirage. wtf. He was able to hit pixie leg over (midtime) twice i think. Chris said that he read the wiki page for footbag, and i was trying to school him with terminology. Im not so good at explaining (or understanding what is going on with adds) but i think i gave him some insight. I def stressed the magic hop
I played for the first third of the session in the new, heavy lavers. Damn. I was able to drill basics in them but I was getting super tired, really quickly. When i switched to the old version lavers, It felt like i was wearing socks. What a weight difference. Im a little nervous cuz my good lavers are almost to the dead point. The sole on my right foot is really worn away and kinda hurts to wear them. Shitty. I figure if they die, and I drill with the heavy lavers, then maybe it will strengthen my leg muscles to a point that i could jump a level when a new, great footbag shoe emerges.
some fives that i hit this session included: motion, spining ducking osis, mobius
Cool links i hit included: double atw>torque, double legover>terrage
Weird trick i hit: spining flying osis
also... This morning I put my deposit in for Cassy's skydiving adventure jam!

Cool you got a new player. Hope he sticks with it.
Props on Spinning Ducking Osis. Have you hit it before? Or just not as often? You should try to zoom out of Spinning Ducking Osis in the future. It's so fun, it should be illegal.

Re: david owen beyers
Started hitting the spinning ducking osis like a month ago. Cool, that is my stong zoom. If i get lucky, maybe i can hit spinny duck osis to vortex

Re: david owen beyers
We had a NYFA session this weekend on Saturday at Washington Square Park. We also had a more casual session at McArren park on Sunday. Saturday's session was a lot of fun! It was my first full session in the new, heavy-ass lavers. I did'nt wear socks because they are red and get hot. The not wearing socks thing was pretty good. The shoes are cusioned enough that i wasnt getting blisters or anything like that. They just smell bad now. Anyway...
We had a special guest this week, and I will get a chance to play with this dude again next weekend. His name is Dexter and he is Czech. This guy got to see Vasek from pretty much the start. Awesome playing with this guy. He said he hadnt played in a month/ he needed more power. Def a classic footbag style, poppy ripwalks, def could tell this guy has played a long time. Also good variety.
NYFA that showed up included: Drew, Mikie, Greg, Bruce, and myself. Enough for two circles including Dexter!
Everyone seemed to be playing well, and Drew lasted the whole time! This guy has been hurting his back like every session he plays, so it was nice to see him not get hurt.
I hit a bunch of new things!
Symposium DLO!
Butter Swirl
Double Spinning Clipper
A dada curvey refractiony move but i made it look stompy, like i jump up in the air with my knees together, and then refraction from there
Things i hit that are not new:
Sumo
symposium blink
It was nice to see that I could still have a lot of fun in the new lavers. They are super heavy, and way hard to perform multiple dex tricks like barrage or double over down, but i am def able to power through. If anything, they make my game more creative. I have to keep it fresh by being creative with simple tricks but complex combos. Def able to flow in them, and I hit that flow zone a lot. A couple of runs i was yelling out in exhaustion. hahaha. I felt like a tennis player or something, when they scream after hitting the ball. I also noticed that i didnt have any sign of shin splints after the session. I think it has to do with the huge soles on the shoe. These shoes will probably last a long time. Hopefully the soles ware down evenly and turn the shoe into a great footbag tool.

that's good to hear about ripping it up in the "boats"! ha! i think they could be used as a training shoe (kinda like warming up with two bats in baseball). who knows. good shit dude!!

Re: david owen beyers
Im everywhere Paul.
Had a 2 man session today with Chris. Its so great to have a player two towns away from me. 5 minutes and I'm at the meeting place compared to two hours to get to nyc.
We played at my town's high school's track. From my car I saw this circle of kids hitting something in the air. At first i thought they might be kicking a hacky sack. They were actually playing this game called spike ball. You stand in a cross formation with four peeps. You have to spike the ball at a trampoline in the middle and keep it going. It looked pretty fun and weird. I knew that some of these high school kids would be into footbag.
I started playing and the kids showed interest right away. Sick! I had extra bags and just let them kick. I told them about footbag, and worlds going on right now. It looks like two of them are going to buy some footbags. One of them hit around the world. Some other high school kid came out of no where and kicked for a second. He thanked me for telling him to look at youtube videos, and to find the different tricks.
Chris and I had a pretty sweet drill session.
Chris just keeps getting better and better. He says he practices a lot. He was hitting clipper>op clipper>op clipper no problem. I think i fixed his clipper a little. He had a string with leg over and op pick up in it. I think it was 16 contacts (counting toe stalls). I would practice different components, and chris would always give it a try. He almost hit whirl. He hit pixie same clipper both sides! wtf. I think he hit pixie mirage both sides, or got really close on both sides. This guy learns things like nothing. His left pixie already looks better than mine.
I was drilling butterflies, and clippers. I had a run with 36 contacts (mix of 2 and 3 adds), I want to eventually get better at shuffling. I was practicing rip walks b2b. I only got two both sides. That is going to take some practice. I think once i understand the third ripwalk it will start to click better. I practiced some shuffling. I think the most i got was six contacts. It was probably something like ripwalk>Stepping leg over>pixie same leg over>pixie mirage>pixie butterfly>ripwalk. I think i hit a combo of stepping same leg>pixie same leg>pixie same mirage>leg beater. I hit left pixie mirage>atom smasher for the first time and like 3 times. I wanted to throw a drifter on the end of it but couldnt get it. I hit spinning paradox mirage>leg beater for the first time
i came close to hitting midtime Pixie badger (I think thats what it would be). I was trying both sides but couldnt seal either side. Im psyched on this trick and would love to hit it on camera.
I wish I was at worlds.

Cool that you got a shred partner! Sounds like he's getting good.
Shuffle feels so fun!
I thought I would leave this here since you are featured more than anyone. This was probably pretty much better than worlds anyways

Sick! Thanks for putting this video up in my blog Cassy! I cant wait to hit a 10 contact shuffle run. I am totally jealous of your shuffling improvements lately.
Re: david owen beyers
I played today with Chris. He just got the new lavers! this is his first big footbag investment. We did a quick toe mod before we played. He hit a lot of new/semi new things today.
Chris:
paradox mirage bs
butterfly>op butterfly
he was trying phoenix already, jeesh
osis>osis
wasnt droppin mirage and his clipper consistency improved
He def notices that they are heavy, and he has to get used to the flat/platform like quality of the sole. Overall though, he is on his way! He is also going to come to the saturday shred day for nyfa jam
I havent played much this week cuz i got really sick on wednesday. I finally recovered and felt well enough to play today (sunday). I dont really have any highlights from today. It was super hot, and i was still week from being sick. I think the coolest thing i did was ducking clipper>whirl>crispy drifter both sides. I also hit a toe>muted swirl (phat trick). Earlier in the week on monday, I hit gyro simple reverse swirl for the first time! yee

Re: david owen beyers
Two days in a row that Chris and I played. Today felt great. It wasnt as hot and my strength felt back to normal. Definitely felt fresh!
Chris hit some sick stuff. Mind you... this guy has only been playin a month and a half. He had a similar hack background that i had before i started freestyle footbag. Its cool to see how quick he learns, and he is def imitating my style. Its going to be nice when he meets and plays with other footbagers to steal from their game too.
Chris:
Pixie xbody rake (Really?)
a lot of xbody rakes bs and bsos
allusions bs
osis x3
atomic set
6 alternating clippers
clipper far leg over x3 and bs
My Highlights:
symp rev up!!! (First time)
reverse whirling gyro toe
blurriest (first time in heavy shoes)
drifter>ducking clipper>paradox mirage rpt
ducking gyro toe
paradox blender
gyro leg over>same side flail>drifter
stepping same osis>far dyno
atomic muted same leg over>same side symple dyno
toe>diving clipper>dlo>torque
torque>far symple reverse whirl (been imagining this for awhile)
double atw>ducking butter>diving mirage>torque
symposium whirl bail osis or crispy blender. Ive seen Lon and Jorden do it this way. I like. This is the only way i can do blender from right clipper
pixie xbody rake
atomic xbody rake
stepping far xbody rake

Re: david owen beyers
I'm stoked that you have someone under your wing. Cant wait to meet him at EC or Da Ocho.
You've been on fire, man. The one thing that stuck out to me was Symposium Revup! Hell yeah. Props through the roof on that one. I got that recently too, so I know how hard that was and how good it felt to hit haha Let's talk about how good Symposium Revup feels when I get to the Ocho. Not a whole lot of others know that feeling, it seems. Ever since I saw Dave hit it in "Winter", I was like.. Oh yeah, it's on.
All the other highlights were great though. Looks like you've really been pushing. Awesome job, dude. Krupp it up.
Cya sooon!

Re: david owen beyers
Cass, def exited to play with you again. Guess this will be at the East Coastss
Polini, yeah, ive been wanting symp rev up for a long time. I think the first person i saw hitting it in person was Ben Cooke. I remember trying it, and it being completely off, like there was no way i could do it. When Clavens came to NYC last, he saw me doing the symp blink move and told me to try the symp rev up. He did the move effortlessly after saying this. Watching him do it in person def helped me to figure it out. I was getting close to the symp rev up again on saturday (I only tried it a couple o times though). I definately understand it better, but i forgot what it felt like. I gotta hit it again to talk about it homie.
I finally had a session with NYFA! I think this is the first time that i have been to the city in 5 weeks. This summer has been nuts. I have this huge research paper due wed, but am almost done. I havent been going to the city on the weekends because of the research paper, but would usually get high and procrastinate instead. My summer job was the craziest shit i have ever done in my whole life, and it is over!! Lets just say it topped skydiving in a weird, gross, opposite way. I still ended up enjoying it though. Im jus happy that i dont have to deal with insanity, surreal life anymore and got to play with my club!
SATURDAYS SESH:
included: Outsider, Drew, Dole, Bijan, Mikie, Greg, Ben Cooke
I def had some cool links but am wishing that my strings were longer, i was hitting symp blink a lot. I was trying a lot of weird things too. Kinda silly but having fun. Cant wait to be able to hit the flow zone again. Dont feel like im there yet but hopefully soon
ripwalk>stepping leg>symp blink
hit locomotion for the second time
outsider hit uptime, symposium dlo on command
Bijan hit double switch b2b
mikie repeated a pixie drill three times. I think it was pixie same mirrage>pixie same leg rpt 3x. His pixie drifter was on as well
Ben C. hit paradox grifter
Im really pumped for NYFA ocho cinco! Going to be nice to kick with a bunch of people i dont normally get to see. Also cant wait to get my face rocked off by celestial shore on friday at Shea Stadium. People coming to the tournament should get ready for Monster in the Closet, a troma release starring fergy and paul walker when they were prepubescent.
On a side note, i started using a copy machine at a bodega by Bruce Doles place. 5 CENT copies!!!!! going to print a new zine (of old drawings), and flying blood (new comic)!
