Double AA's Footblog - Feeling Lost!!!
Re: Double AA's Footblog - 204 toe stalls!
Hey dude, nice job on the new toe stall record! 204, damn, I need to step my game up. Love the laces on your lavers too, that's a cool idea. Probably would have done something like that if I didn't color mine purple/ black with purple laces.
That video helped me out a bunch too, so thanks for that. For the hop I've just been really trying to focus on solely that whenever I do legovers, since I already have the movement and timing down okay most of the time. I seem to have the opposite problem of you in that sometimes I set mine too far away lol. Ah well, practice makes perfect.
Keep on shredding.

Wow. 204, eh? That's a great record. Congrats man
You should push your Inside stall record high too. Insisde> ss Inside rpt and Alternating Insides.. Because once you can go like 100 of each, your Clippers will get the trickle up effect and start ripping some serious bag
Re: Double AA's Footblog - 204 toe stalls!
thx DC! yep the magic hop is key with the legovers. finally figuring it out. glad you like my lavers! think they turned out pretty good. my other pair was getting left out so i drew on those yesterday. gonna color them tonight. i'll post a pic of them when they're done.
nick - i do need to work more on inside stalls. i think i'm scared of them now since it was those that fucked my knee up. i still don't drill those much because it still hurts to do a bunch of them.

If it hurts to do them, your doing something wrong, especially if clippers don't hurt. Send me your precious forage of inside stalls?

Re: Double AA's Footblog
whoa... modified's been modified! cool! thx allan for the updated look. me likey!
had a 5 am sesh this morning. working on same shit. i feel like i'm not getting anywhere with legovers and mirage. should it be taking me this long to get this shit down? i mean i've been drilling these for almost 2 months straight. thoughts?
i recorded some footage and didn't edit out all the drops. i would like ya'll to see the drops to see what i'm doing wrong. i recorded some inside stalls for nick. told him that i don't drill these much anymore because of my jumpers knee. he said i must be doing something wrong if they hurt but clipper doesn't. you can see on the vid that my flipside support leg doesn't bend that much on the stall. i guess i'm just scared to put too much weight on it and fuck it up again. i still have to stretch every day just so that i can continue shredding. the chopat helps some but my knees def ache after every session. hate getting old!
also taped some clippers and osis for critique.
here's what i worked on in the session:
basic kicks as usual to warm up
toe stalls
inside stalls
legovers (the magic hop is def helping but i'm just not there yet, ugh)
mirage (after i shot the vid of these i started getting my dex leg down faster and that seemed to help. really struggling with these)
clippers (new pr - x10 strong, x5 flip) where you at vince???
clipper>mirage bs
clipper>legover bs
osis>hand catch bs
clipper>osis bs
pauls challenge - clipper>toe>op toe>clipper rpt
i read nick's post yesterday about hunching and if he is still hunching a little bit then i'm sure that i am still hunching. really concentrated on straightening up during this sesh. i think it def helped with the new pr on the clippers. i felt like my head was more over the bag. thx nick!
oh, and the new color on my other lavers looked good this morning as well. they did bleed a little bit on my socks, so i'm gonna have to get some black ones (which will look much better)

p.s. oh, and am i just and idiot or does anyone know why the new favicon is a "B"? what does that stand for? i figured it would be an "M" for modified. let a brotha know!

Re: Double AA's Footblog
Great session, man! Keep pushing it.
I noticed one thing about your legovers and I think I can provide a constructive tip. What I noticed was that your foot stays straightish when executing legovers. Not sure if this is totally correct form but it works for me: As I dex, I point my toes up and point my foot outwardly. Then, I lead with my ankle which creates a snappy motion for the dex instead of a circly one.
I don't know if that would help, but anyway, your kick is lookin' good!

Re: Double AA's Footblog
Ben's tip is valid. Pointing your toes outward slightly is a Sunil Jani secret. It let's you snap in to dex the bags lot quicker. Shadow, try standing as straight as possible. Like a plank is taped to your back. I swear that makes everything easier
Re: Double AA's Footblog
thanks ben and nick. i'll try your tip. i do know that when i am not hitting them clean, i feel like my leg is not at the 45 angle. if i concentrate on pointing my foot outward that will give me the triangle. and yes, back straight!!!

Re: Double AA's Footblog
Gonna post my own reply before I read others':
-Try twisting your hips even more for your inside stalls. I can see you're trying, but the more you exaggerate it, the flatter you'll be able to make that instep surface (and alleviate a lot of the knee pain I know you sustain!)
-Start dexing much sooner on your legovers. I can see you're starting to do the magic hop a little bit, but the point is to give you time and footing to switch feet for a dex ASAP and you're not utilizing that as well as you could be. Watch the video I made for you and watch where I start my dex -- pretty early and up high with my foot almost at hip height! Also, what can help with legover is pointing your toe outward for the dex -- it will make the circle that you have to make around the bag a lot smaller so you don't have to move as much
-Remember to really exaggerate the toe stall movement -- you're still hoping that it will kind of just land instead of bringing your foot up to hip height and bringing it down with the bag at the same speed. Your foot is barely lifting off the ground for your toe stalls
-Mirages are looking a lot better!!
-Same tip for clipper as with toe stall -- really over-emphasize the cushioning movement by bringing the clipper foot up higher with the bag and then bringing it down at the same speed. Again, twist your hips for clipper -- this will help you flatten the instep and also give you a greater range of motion in lifting your foot for the cushioning motion I mentioned. Otherwise they're also looking much improved!!! If it helps I can make a video of cushioning clippers more? Let me know if there's ever anything else you want a video of, my son :p
-Your osis actually looks quite good! But it will only improve the more you train your clippers -- notice how high you raise your foot for osis in preparation for the stall? Copy that for your clippers!
Everything's starting to come together a lot better, Aaron. Great stuff
Always feel free to message me on Facebook or we can try streaming again some time. Been having a stressful couple weeks, but I can try to make time for you!

Re: Double AA's Footblog
well i had 2 sessions this weekend... light one on sat and more extensive one on sunday. my knees have still been sore because of the inside stalls. i am officially done with those. i know my body and it doesn't like them.
sat highlights:
inside kicks - new pr x40
atw - x5 strong, x2 flip
orbit - hit one on each side.
i normally don't drill atw or orbit so i need to work on those some more.
sunday's sesh was back to drilling legovers, mirage and clipper. mirage is looking much better. still struggling with legovers. erik has been beating into me to use the magic hop with these. when i ghost legovers they are perfect! utilize the magic hop and everything. i had a few people comment that i wasn't using the hop but i went back and watched the vid and the hop is there. it's not very prominent but it's there. confused now. should the just be more pronounced?
i wanted my wife to record some of the sesh and i figured out she had a slow mo feature on her iphone 5. wow, how cool is this. this could transform my game. so the vids below are from that. i posted the legover vid on fb to get some more feedback. matt had a good tip that i am dexing more with my foot instead of my knee. paul also agreed that i need to almost perform the dex like pedaling a bike backwards. vince made me a slow mo vid of this legovers as well. need to go back and study erik's vid as well. i noticed that my dex is slow. erik also noticed that. i'm just not sure how i get the dex started faster. if that's what the hop is for then i have to start using it. if anyone else has any thoughts on them, please let me know.

Re: Double AA's Footblog - FREE YOUR MIND!
wow b2b session posts with no comments. either i'm drilling a lot more or ya'll just suck!
monumental session this morning. i have been drilling mirage and legovers wrong for 2 fucking months. i want to thank Muffinman, MetZelRio, Matt K, Nick Polini (can't tag you because of the brackets in your username) and shred4life for all of their help on legovers. hope i'm not leaving anyone out. i have been trying to incorporate the magic hop more into them lately but my dex was completely wrong like matt said. paul made me a vid last night explaining in detail the correct form for the dex for legovers and mirage.
"why do my eyes hurt? because you've never used them before!"
i completely understand the dex now. paul said that him and nick had talked one night about dexes and paul said he had a complete different look into it. he explained that in the tutorial. i implemented that this morning and my mirages were much better! the dex was smaller, more compact and faster. there are still improvements to be made but i am well on my way now, finally!
legovers are still gonna take some time but i am very close! i ghosted them in the vid below so you can see that i understand the concept and the hop. now just need to be able to do it with the bag. it's right around the corner.
paul also wanted me to try toe > same clipper which i haven't been able to do yet. was hitting those both sides this morning. little thin on flip but they'll get there.
oh and thanks vince for the excedrin tip! took 2 this morning before my session and my knees felt incredible the entire time. also didn't need any coffee afterwards either. zooming!
"Do not try and kick the bag. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth."
"What truth?"
"There is no bag!"

I watched The Matrix again a couple of weeks ago and made a whole bunch of "There is no Tombstone" kind of jokes at US Open this weekend. It applies very well to footbag.
Glad I could help, keep it up.

Re: Double AA's Footblog - FREE YOUR MIND!
i believe summer is officially here in the south. fucking humid this morning. i was drenched! my shorts literally looked like i had just got out of the pool! wow!
pretty good sesh this morning. here are the highlights yo...
mirage - getting tighter!
legovers - getting there. need to work on set after stall more.
pickup - hit this first try!!! flip needs work.
toe > same clipper - getting much better
toe > same clipper > mirage
clipper > op legover
clipper > op legover > mirage
session didn't last too long because of the humidity and we also have a hurricane on it's way (should be staying on the coast though, hopefully)!
here's a vid of pickup and toe > same clipper. clipper stall still needs work. just sticking my foot out there. feel like i don't have enough time to bring foot up and then back down for the smooth stall.

Re: Double AA's Footblog - FREE YOUR MIND!
Both looked good dude. Let's see flipside on both soon
Re: Double AA's Footblog - Clippers!
my 4th of july session was all about clippers!
everything revolves around this one trick and mine are still not perfect. i also think that my sessions are regimented enough and this one i wanted to focus on one thing. so clippers it was.
highlights:
near clipper > ss mirage B2B - took me a while to get this. wasn't going to end my session til i hit it. wasn't pretty but i got it.
one thing i'm trying to work on is stalling better. erik wants to see my stall foot start higher so i'm cradling the bag long instead of just sticking my foot out there. so still working on that. paul wants my set foot to turn horizontally to my body. i do this in the strong side vid but not weak.
near clippers are getting much better. here are slow mo's of those.

on another note, my knees have been killing me lately. i'm seriously sick of it. i am going to do more squats and see if i can build up the muscle around there. i also ordered 2 copper compression socks to see if that will help. also mike lloyd told me about getting some glucosamine and chondroitin to help. we'll see....

Re: Double AA's Footblog - Clippers!
Try turning more into your flip clipper. You're hitting it at pretty much the same angle as your toe stall which is forcing you to do some weird positioning with your clipper foot.
