Great day today. There wasn't a ton of shred, and I didn't play well, but I didn't expect to from the get-go after a week of going pretty hard. It was raining a lot and all the people I was most excited to see left early with their babies before we even started BBQing, but it was good to see them anyway! My very first run was pretty good with a gyro DLO, mobius BSOS and some other stuff to start -- spinning ducking osis BSOS? But then everything after was pretty much downhill, mostly 'cause I was playing with a bag that was too small for me. Johnny hit some good stuff: pixie double pickup BSOS -- a new trick for him both sides. He also hit double pickup > quantum pickup [repeat]. We played some frisbee and soccer hack. And I was excited to try Tom's slackline again, but he had left by the time I remembered. The best moment, though, was having a really meaningful, albeit brief, chat with Adam on the subway ride home. Felt some real serious empathy. Also, Camille's dog Otto is a machine. Such a happy, energetic dog. Actually I was left with him on the ferry for, like, 2 minutes and he somehow escaped from his leash and started "terrorizing"/playing with this poor woman who was, like, deathly afraid of dogs. I had to go grab him and carry him back to our spot, which was a bit awkward, 'cause I'm allergic, so I'm not super comfortable around dogs myself to begin with.

Gonna take at least a few days of from hack. Maybe a week.. Rest up. My back was starting to tweak before my Oshawa session and then a bit today too. I don't look forward to getting back to solo sessions again, so I might just not play outside of the weekends. This last week was too good

Had a weak session today. I hadn't played all week and was kind of intentionally letting my body rest from all the hack from the previous week. I had the energy, but my body felt sore and tight today. I feel stupid for having not done yoga or extensive stretching at all after all of those sessions the previous week. My right hamstring has been suuuper tight. Like it hurts behind the knee.

So I just had a light session. I was hoping that I would limber-up and be able to work toward harder stuff. I really want to work on zooming, consecutive spinning osii, zooming mobiuses and stuff. I'd like to work on spinning osis > mobius and then work up to 3+ mobiuses, or at least 2 semi-consistently. But I stuck with tiltless today because of my hamstring. My very first run, first try, was that drill where you go clipper > op clipper > op clipper x2 > op clipper x2... up to 10 each side, and then back own to 1 again each side. I used to do up to 10 a lot to warm up a few years ago, but I don't remember if I ever went up and then back down again. Maybe once before? I dunno. Felt neat. Then I followed it up with a 66-contact BOPpy string. And then just fooled around with some easy stuff. It was maybe a 20-30 minute session, but it was good to play even just a little. Mobius 1 try each side. I really want to dial that trick.

That's basically it.
I kind of wanted to work on double pickups too, since I think blazing would help with that, and double pickups might help clean up my flurries too, which I would then feel more comfortable doing more of. And boy do I love that trick.
I did my short yoga session, and added extra hamstring work. I think I'll do this daily for this week and not have high expectations for intense shred until maybe next weekend. Hopefully lots of stretching and strengthening will help. Might bike too, since I've been dying for cardio. And that might help loosen up my legs.

On the job front, I had a follow-up interview with that one job. They gave me a surprise test, which I think I aced. And then the following day they called me again asking for references which they said they'll be contacting early this week before getting back to me. It would be nice to finally have a job.

66-contact boppy string... WOW! that's awesome! stretching really helps me with my jumpers knee. if i don't stretch everyday my knees will hurt when i shred.

that clipper drill sounds cool. when i get mine down better, might have to try that. that will def help with clips.

congrats on the 2nd interview. got fingers crossed for ya!

Thanks Aaron :)
The 66 isn't a big deal for me. It wasn't freestyle, just, like, 20 butterflies > 20 osii > 20 ducking clippers (and then some freestyle after). The clippers was kinda cooler -- 110 contacts I think? 66 of freestyle would be a bigger deal :p
Also, I got the job, but I think you know that already :)

I had a good session just now.
I hit some pretty good stuff, and I felt good, which was super nice after the last session where my body just wasn't feeling it (kind of like your last sessions, Aaron!) I don't remember too many highlights, but enough for a video, I'm excited to throw together. Let's see if I can recap:
-osis > mobius BSOS
-spinning osis > mobius BSOS
-spinning ducking osis > spinning whip (either repeat or BSOS -- don't remember)
-food BSOS
-footed blazing whip x2 > hand catch > footed other side (don't know how I didn't hit this -- felt silly)
-oh, blazing clipper > spinning ducking clipper [repeat]
-little apple > ducking clipper > gyro DLO > ducking clipper > gyro DLO > ducking clipper > little apple
-mantis > something both sides? I don't remember. Was pretty tired to go for the BSOS at this point in the session, but I figured out a trick for bigger gyro tricks like this and little apple -- makes a WORLD of difference! I do a pivot half spin before I even start thinking about the dex and then just do the dexes as if the bag started in front of me. Helps to prevent the scoop on my little apples especially.

I dunno what else. I figured out why I can do mobius pretty well, but can never do anything out of it -- my set isn't super controlled, so I can flail for the osis consistently, but then to play out of that is tough. I learned this from trying stepping out of them, which I've done before, but really helped to point to the imprecision in both the set into and out of the trick I was experiencing. Same for spinning out of it, though I was kinda close to spinning whip > mobius [repeat]. I should work on those earlier highlights more before I try jumping straight into the harder stuff.

The first half of the session felt super productive, but then I think I had too high expectations for myself and was trying stuff way too hard without getting many actual runs. And lots of time passed with nothing happening. But it was still fun. I also did yoga outdoors for the first time ever! It was sooo much more relaxing. For standing poses anyway. For anything where more than just my hands and feet were touching the ground, I got really dirty, especially for how sweaty I was (dirt stuck to me a LOT more readily due to this...)

Good vibes today :)
Excited to put together a video!

I was kinda expecting there to be some mindfucking existential explanation on the name… This is like asking the giant gopher in the sky what the meaning of life is and he tells you, "Potatoes." :P

Regardlolz, dope shred of course. I'm betting you could get yourself Mobius b2b sometime if you schooled Spinning Osis b2b

I've done mobius x2 both sides before. I just want to be able to do it kinda consistently. I imagine that feels good

LIFE
Been having a sucky life for the past few weeks. My girlfriend of 5 years and I broke up out of the blue and then I moved her out back to her mom's, I'm trying not to die inside, since I was super sure we were going to be together for forever, and also find a new place to live while work is about to start on Monday after being jobless for half a year. Very intense feels. Blaarrg. My mom drove across the country overnight to take care of me because I'm in a bad place. She pointed out that I have left a trail of heartbroken mothers. I think Jenn's mom seemed more sad than Jenn did and I'm pretty close friends with my previous ex-girlfriend's mom, both of whom consider me their son and love to spoil me. That's kind of nice.

WORLD PRIDE SESSION
Had a really fun World Pride session with Camille and JJ last weekend. I played really well, but mostly stuff with which I'm more confident. It was a super fun day. Crazy parade that I saw for the first time, Camille and I also had a duo session at another street festival a few hours earlier. Apparently I got verbal microphone props from the musicians performing on the stage, we got free water from the sound crew, and also lots of props from passersby. I'm super surprised I didn't hit anyone with a mobius considering how close people walked a lot of the time. Then it suddenly poured rain for about 15 minutes, followed by a rainbow (super Pride-appropriate!) And then we all went out for Vietnamese (Camille, me, JJ, Sarah, and their couple friends).

ADAM SESSION
Today I jammed with Adam for the first time in a while. He wasn't quite feeling it, and I don't think my runs were that stellar, but I had some good highlights, some of which I can hopefully remember:
-spender BSOS, dropped BSOSing the food
-ducking osis > pd blender BSOS? (dropped BSOSing the spinning osis > pdx blender?)
-ducking PS mirage > pixie paradon BSOS
-spinning ducking clipper > pdx blender BSOS?
-fusion, blurriest, blaze > rev reactor (other atomic), and some other things?
-11 spinning osii (my record?) > mobius atempt
-which led to a handful of super good mobius x2 attempts every time

No new tricks for me, but Adam hit toe set downtime swifter -- super cool. I kept footing blazing DLO again, but gave up.

SKYDIVING
Oh yeah, and I bailed on Cassy's skydiving event because of the aforementioned life stuffs. It's a struggle to be around people -- moreso than usual. I was really excited too. And feel bad 'cause I know lots of other FAT players bailed as well. I look forward to hearing about it though.

Oh yeah, also I just went to get some groceries after the session and my card was declined. I panicked and rushed home to check my bank account, but I have money... kinda frustrating. To balance that out, I got a third pair of Climas in the mail just now, getting home :) Gonna be hacking for years to come, I hope!

Sorry to hear life's been rough on you. At least you got a job though! And sounds like footbag is going great too. I know those things don't all balance out, but can you imagine how bad the breakup would have been if you were also unemployed and injured at the same time? Also congrats on finding more climas. I'm getting desperately low on G-Units, and trust me when I say that's not a good feeling.

can relate to the female induced sucky life situation as of late, sucks to here you feel that way too but it definetly gets better (as i'm sure you know.) I just started to feel like myself the past week after a pretty awful month.

It can be tough suddenly tackling a brand new life situation like a new job without someone that your so used to sharing experiences with, but ultimately you just gotta live & let rip.

also watched your new vid with adam earlier and it was phat. especially liked the ducking ps mirages and blazing far clip, which i'm totally gonna steal.

Erik, sorry to hear the bad news. I think we've all been in similar positions. Not fun, but you'll find your path again soon. Just remember.. All things happen for a reason, thunderstorms always clear up, and time heals all wounds.

Wish you the best.

Also, dope new video ;) Still love your game.

Thanks, guys. It means a lot. I don't really have non-footbag friends, so I'll take what I can get. I moved across the country for her and now I'm stuck here feeling very alone.
