You can also look at this as an opportunity to move anywhere you want to... Not just in Canada, but anywhere you want... Freedom
Re: Muffinman
Yeah, I thought of that. My brother's boss wants to hire me in Hong Kong. But I kind of just don't like life, which is why my mom came to take care of me. I have a family history of suicide in every generation, so my mom basically came to literally keep me alive
Re: Muffinman
I want you to stick around bro. I'm so glad your mom is there.

Re: Muffinman
Hi Eric, i know i don't know you very well, but you don't seem like the type to let life keep you down.
This is just another of the challenges in life that will help define you as a person. Like Aaron, i whole heartedly believe that everything happens for a reason... And while that reason might not be clear today, one day it's purpose will be revealed.
A wise man once told me:
"When life gives you lemons, simply find someone whose life has given them vodka and throw a party."
We're all gunning for you man.
And btw, big props on shredding so hard the band noticed! that awesome

Re: Muffinman
Hey Erik, it sucks that bad times have come upon you, but I think you can get through this. I don't know much about your situation, and have learned that it is impossible to accurately judge someone else's hardships. However, I have also experienced that things do get better. Life sucks for the most part, but there are the bright shiny parts that make it worth living. You've got this.

Re: Muffinman
Erik, you know we all really care about you man. Please don't do anything you would regret. We all love you man. Friends can get you through a lot of hard stuff in life. Everyone at Penn state right now sends their love and good vibes. Ben told me to say "Especially from Ben" too. You're an awesome dude. We're all pulling for you
Re: Muffinman
Thanks guys. You're the best <3
Just lots of crap happening all at once makes things harder than they already usually are.
I played some hacky. It was both unproductive and kind of a little productive. I had no mental energy to push myself or anything. I wanted to have a session where I just didn't do any big tricks and just focus on longer runs with more dense medium-to-low difficulty links. I lost interest really fast though.
I did hit a few neat new tricks though, which felt good:
-flip barfly swirl (first try. And then second try)
-flip pdx nova
-double spinning osis [both sides] (I think this is new?)
I also thought I'd try the flip DATWs for my level 2 badge, 'cause I was kinda just doing nothing anyway, and I did it first try, so I can get that footage off my computer finally.
Was kind of hoping to make a video to this track, but I didn't really hit anything to fill a video. Maybe I still will:

Props on flip datw! I know those were giving you fits. Pretty cool you hit it first try. Can't wait to see your level 2 badge!!!

Re: Muffinman
Barfly Swirl is bad to the BONE! it's dreamy. 1st and second try. My oh my.
Re: Muffinman
Thanks guys.
Yeah, the DATWs were causing me grief. Cassy kept saying it was probably because I left them until the end of the session when I was already pooped, so that may have just been it.
Sessioned with the guys today. It was nice. I've been feeling the onset of a flu or something, so at the last minute I kind of thought I wouldn't even be able to play, but once I got going I forgot all about it, so yay. Cassy had another weird allergic reaction near the end of the session though! So I hope she's alright. We also had a bit of a scare with the potential breakout of a gang fight, so we relocated after a couple hours-ish?
Some good things happened:
-Cassy hit smoke > hand catch > other side (first time), also pixie same whip BSOS
-Adam hit spanishfly > hand catch > other side (first time?), also barroque BSOS, and a run with blurry torque BSOS and a gravedigger (hand caught due to lack of energy after that)
-Camille footed pixie same whirl and was super close to smear BSOS a ton of times
My highlights:
-16 barflies (new record! last record was 14) -- first try?
-40 gyro clippers (Adam made me laugh at about 37, so it was a struggle to get there, and then I bailed to something else on account of ruined :p
-spanishfly both sides! (new trick!) -- figured this out, while it eluded me for so long!
-blazing far symp whip both sides (new trick)
Oh, I also hit a janiwalker after only a couple tries!! Flip kind of hurt my hip. Thinking symp makes that set so much easier. Oh, and I BSOSed flurry first try after Adam did. The second one was out of a blurry whip, too, which kind of surprised me, instead of just a butterfly or whatever. Oh, and I also BSOSed whirling swirl and dropped on the BSOS for infinity swirl

Re: Muffinman
Your highlighted highlights are fucking killer dude. Props! 16 Barflies? I can't shake a stick at that. So dope. My Gyro Clipper record is around 40, as well. I'd love to go head to head on those to beat each other's records and push each other.
Props on all that stuff though man. So sick.

Thanks guys
Played with Adam today. One of the hottest days of the summer so far. Killer. I got some more new/neat stuff, though:
-spinning butterfly swirl both sides (first try each side?)
-pdx blender x2 (new?) -- kept footing the other side
-toe whipping swirl BSOS (not new)
-cleared a handful of flip furious sets!
-so close to void BSOS a bunch (unsure if I've done this before.. probably?)
-GYBAS BSOS first try, with a food processor that I didn't realize I caught, right after saying I can never hit dynos
(Also not new, but the food was a sweet seal!)
-footed bling blang swirl?
Adam footed a tough beast: blurry torque > food > alpine blurry whirl? Why that order? So hard! He did a bunch of good stuff. We didn't do many runs on account of the heat. Reverse void? Barfly swirl (both sides?), janis both sides...
Life's been slightly more upbeat. Started casual dating, which is something I've never really done before. It's kind of really fun, but hard to remember everything about every girl. Still more interested in something long-term, but it's fun to gauge what's out there. I had a date yesterday that I thought went really well and then she suggested we see each other again today, but she never got back to me. So I'm not sure if she blew me off politely or she was actually busy. I hope the latter, 'cause I like her lots. And I'm meeting this other girl on Tuesday after work for a walk on the beach. It's really, really nice to get my mind off of the shitty, shitty things about my last relationship. Also moving to a good apartment next weekend, the logistics of which are kinda stressing me, but hopefully my hack friends will be helping out, and they're strong guys, so it should hopefully be pretty streamlined for the most part.
Also just got over a terrible flu that my doctor was concerned might be meningitis and require a spinal tap. I REALLY didn't want that, but at the same time thought it would be kind of neat to hit the footbag trick spinal tap (tapping torque? Alpine tapping torque?) and say that I've had one. I'm really glad that it didn't come to that. Really, really glad. I was super dizzy all week and missed 3 days of work, but I'm pretty sure it was just post-concussive syndrome from the minor concussion I sustained in March from bumping my head in this crappy basement. I hope that doesn't happen every time I get sick from now on. It was terrible.
Oh, I had high tea for the first time today.
Kinda neat, but... also kinda overrated? I had a nice Japanese rose tea, though. The unpractically small and unreasonably expensive "sandwiches" are kind of silly...
EDIT: also did pixie near double down and pixie paradon both BSOS for the first time (maybe first try?) -- this was probably my favourite highlight... so kinda funny that I forgot about it

Re: Muffinman
Spinal tap is tapping torque isn't it? I always thought it was. Though you are usually the expert in that regard! Hit that trick yesterday come to think of it.
Re: Muffinman
glad to hear things are getting better and you're on the dating scene! the spinal tap thing was pretty funny.

Re: Muffinman
It's time for a new video! Great highlights my friend!
Muffinman
Havent played footbag in like 2 weeks. I miss it so bad. I moved last weekend and some footbag friends helped out though, an old friend of Johnny's whom I'd only ever met once before, almost a decade ago, and our street hack companion, JJ, who's an incredibly nice guy and insistantly helped even after everyone else had left and i said i could manage on my own. I really want to thank him some way, but i already owe him a bag and i still havent finished Alex's.
So, that girl I was worried blew me off is actually totally, ridiculously into me. Im in her bed right now for the second time this week
i really hope this works out, 'cause we groove on absolutely every level. And we text non-stop all day, every day at work... Hehe (ive had to start bringing my phone charger to work!)
I feel like it's been so long that ive forgotten how to play footbag. I hope i get a chance soon. Im dying. I also want to start drawing and painting again, but i have so little time. I think buying a crockpot may save my life...

Re: Muffinman
Grats on the move in, that seems pretty cool!
I'd love to see some of your drawing/ painting work. I'm a amateur artist so always interested in seeing other people's works.
About JJ: maybe you could draw or paint something for him? Knock out two birds with one stone!
Hope ya find time to shred soon.

Re: Muffinman
Hey, great idea. Thanks
I have some drawings on my site: http://www.erikchan.ca
Had part 1 of (potentially 2) Cassy's birthday shred today. I played kinda bad with not many runs, but hit a few neat things:
-whirr BSOS (flip came second!)
-void BSOS (not new)
-30 spinning clippers > spinning whip drop
-23 flip spinning clippers? (records for both -- I think I had 20ish both sides before?)
-7 atom smashers? Prolly close-ish to my record
-blazing clipper > blurrier bsos (and blaze BSOS?)
-blurry whipping swirl both sides
-7 spinning whips? (4 flip?)
-3 bling blangs?
-blurriest > rubberman > blurriest
Everyone else (Cassy, Adam, JJ, and Mike(!)) all played really well too! Cassy's game is really coming together, and she's starting to own shuffle. Her form is immaculate too. Watch out Tina and Lise!
EDIT: I also hit 36-ish far whips?
