hah, i should be able to do gyro clippers forever. if my mind can stay focused.
this week has been very busy. my mom went out of town so i have been babysitting all week. also trying to stitch as many bags as i can for steve and alex to bring to worlds. still playing a lot, played with dave on monday night finally, though my legs did not feel great by the end i was doing better. dave played pretty well, but a little sloppy since he hadnt played in a month. he did something like 64 drifters. played on tuesday at stanford, pretty well i think. a couple of beast runs. played on weds with katya and drilled that flip fairy to get the same height as my strong. she hit a ton of mirages in a row on each side and had good clippers going. had to bail on a later session with dave cause i had taken my little sister swimming. the swimming was nice. made pizza after. today is steve and alexs last day, they leave tomorrow morning for worlds! i am sad to be missing it again after making it to 2010-11-12. i will make my big return in 2015.
so many bags to stitch, yay! stay tuned for my tiedyed fabric experiment.

Looking forward to some more bags making their way to Copenhagen. We all love them.

Thanks asmus, denmark has some loyal customers
Hope you will enjoy the newest batch!
Thursday session with Steve and Alex. Last session before their departure. Alex has been playing much better in general in the past 5 sessions or so. Hurt his knee a bit but I think he will be ok for worlds. Steve played pretty well, and got at least a bit of a workout in. He hit diving osis by accident which is pretty cool. I was stepping like a beast, blurs are really really clicking. Flip fairy was low, but I drilled it anyways. Vortex x8. Drifter x47. Pretty good session.
Steve and I played 2-square after to prepare him for worlds. I handled the match 2-0 easily. I was incredibly on, especially with serves which is very rare. I think he will still win worlds, though there is always Wiktor. Best of luck to Steve and Alex! I want to play against some people at East Coasts! I will even accept 4-square challenges where everyone is against me
Friday was exhausting. It was hot hot hot out. Played with Katya from 1240-215, yoga session for the first 20. She is working out altered footwork for a lot of her tricks and doing very well. Also schooling illusions, which I need to do too. My fairys were poppin, my steps were poppin, torque x7 bsos felt fun (i forgot how much I love to do plain torques). During the session I got a text from Dave asking to play around 4. OK, I can do b2b sessions. Finished the session with double switch overs, surprisingly cooperative trick.
Session with Dave was short but we were powering some stuff out. Not going to post highlights yet cause he was filming and might make a quick flick. I guess i'll mention that we both hit vortex x9 on film to tease you all
If my sets keep poppin up like they have been lately, shuffle-time will be soo soon.
here are those drifters, i am sure I can break 50 but the thought of getting to 100 is insane.

Just saw the video Dave uploaded on Youtube. If that is indeed the one, props. That was awesome to watch. Vortex looks so easy when both of you hit it. Look forward to meeting you at East Coasts.brianbear wrote:

Re: Dr. Bear, The US champion!
awww yeah, that is the one!
Thanks Ivan. Yeah, East Coasts is gonna be off da hook. I am sure we are going to have some interesting stitching discussions
So excited for some new East Coast faces, it is quite rare for me to meet footbaggers I have not yet met.
Yeah Cass! I always forget how excited Dave still gets about footbag, this video really shows it
Went to the beach on Saturday and ended up staying the night sleeping there, it was really nice besides the rain at 3am which forced me into the tent. Fun times though, and Sunday morning I played in leather lavers for a wee bit. Not soo bad. Session later with Dave, no filming but some good runs. My fairy variety is going up a bit. I have to school flip double down before I venture to heavy into atomics. Starting with flip dbl switches and dbl atw to get my left dexing tighter. Then onto paradons and double downs, then barflys. Want this by ECFC.
A little sad I am not at worlds this year, feels strange.

oh man, look at all this east coast action in my blog!
kevin, you are another shredder I would not mind dragonball z morphing with. I feel like our games kind of make each others complete, though I can't be sure having never seen you play in person.
you know you gotta consult with tha docta
oh boats! it has been... well, a really long time. can't wait to kick with ya again, see that cool trick selection. I also will need to consult with you if ya know what i mean.
I know Derek is coming too, he is extended stanford crew. but I am pretty sure steve, alex, dustin, dave will not be coming but there is still time!
So i finally booked my tickets. Originally I was thinking thursday-monday, then I said to myself why not til tuesday, then i said to myself why not arrive wednesday?
I fly in on tuesday and leave on tuesday, a full proper week of shred on the east coast. figure i should take advantage of my unemployment/ lack of responsibilities while I can. Hope i have places to stay for a week lol.
*oh yeah, i was gonna write a whole blurb on recognition, and how I don't really value it in footbag and most things in life. The satisfaction of doing something and knowing I did it is more than enough
so i guess it is self recognition that I value. i guess thats my blurb hah.

Re: Dr. Bear, The US champion!
I was just going to ask, "what do you do for a crust"...seems like you have plenty of time to train, which is a good way to become the champion! I think recognition is a big deal, both for the self and for the community.
It's so nice to have people pop into your blog (as you did to mine today), whether it's to say "oh cool run", or just to say nice job on what you're doing, well done on being the US champ, etc etc.
I think in general a lot of footbag players contribute to the problem, I know people over the years who have been seriously into the sport, but they won't admit to their friends that it's what they spend all their weekends doing.
Anyway, your game is looking awesome at the moment, you had a few runs in that video that were more impressive than Dave, and that's saying something...

Re: Dr. Bear, The US champion!
Thanks! Playing with Dave really pushes me to have nice runs.
Things have been kind of slow lately. Trying hard to learn all the flip double downs, and need to match my swirls and rev swirls so they are the same on each side form wise. Had 3 sessions with Katya this week she is getting better but frustrated with flip illusion. A strange week without Alex and Steve I guess. Flip pixie is pretty mean, but i figure I just need to about a 100 ATws at the start and end of every session to iron the left leg control out. Whether I will actually stick to that plan is a mystery!
Trying to keep up with the pull ups. Biking a lot lately instead of rollerblading, would like to balance those back out. Also really need to get back on the rowing machine habit. On the plus side, been very consistent with extra core workouts and stretching.
Aw yes, footbag does need more recognition, and exposure.
Flip p blender also needs work.

Maybe for 100 ATWs, practice in accordance to Daft Punk's Around The World to motivate? Unless you hate Daft Punk or something
And yeah! More East Coasts action/hype/etc.! I'm excited to meet you

Look, another new face I get to meet at East Coasts! I am excited to meet you as well April, probs talk some stitching and hopefully get to taste some of your baking (I am a baker of all sorts)
Not a bad idea with the daft punk song, i have such a hard time remembering what to drill so maybe that song in playlist will cue it for me. but fred... fred is kinda scary haha.
Yeah Derek, I will have to examine your pixies a bit next too
it is nice that this worlds is coming to an end (easy to say since im not there). have things round these parts get back on schedule.
Oh, and an response to an old nick comment about double spinning osis record: Vasek and I are the only ones to have hit b2b on film (that feels pretty crazy to say). I should probably just get 3 though. here it is in this mathias blau special from when he was visiting a couple years ago. very stanford vibey video, with some great shred. also have a nice vortex->void rpt in here:

Talk to Bruce Dole about stayin in new york for a full week. He is a great host! His number is 718 417 0718. Mikie Etlinger, Johnny Breakdown Shara, and Ben Cooke are usually down to kick during the week. We also got this new guy Bijan who will probably be available during the week too.
Re: Dr. Bear, The US champion!
Thanks for all the info Boats! I will be hitting Bruce up for sure.
I think i figured out flip pdx blender today! all in the support hop for me.
Just had to post, got another gnarly gangster party combo.
marius > gangster party.
dave got it on his gopro but i think he is saving it for the future.
oh and dave hit 69> gangster party like 2nd try

Re: Dr. Bear, The US champion!
oh good session today!
it was steve alex katya and me, a nice group of 4 although I do not think all 4 of us ever played at the same time. Good cause I like circles of 2 or 3, which is what we had going for a while. Some long varietal strings, some 4 - 5 add only strings, and my flip p whirl/ flip blender were great today. hmmm, flip paradon is getting more comfortable... that needs to get better quick. flip fairy was causing some ruckus today, really have to crank that toe/ ankle up on those sets. flip spinning ducking is getting better, morpheus sauce should be locked in in a few weeks if i keep it up. i think i will try to get flip motion dialed in soon so i can hit motion sickness b2b
lets see how long these goals will take!
I need to start routine work soon, I want to solidify my us open one and make a new poppier/rappier one, maybe a mashup for easy choreo.

I think Morpheus is a great trick for you. Really stoked to shred with you at ECFC. I think we can learn a lot from each other. I'm definitely down to exchange tips for some concepts with you during the weekend if you'd like.
Oh and one more thing. The following quote really inspired me:
Keep drilling dude, I think you're going to level up hardcore before ECFC.

I hit it b2b in my session tonight. Thanks for the inspiration on that one. Wouldn't have thought of it without your help. Let's push for 3 at ECFC. Also, If you'd like to have a friendly race to hit Motion Sickness b2b, i'm all for it. I'm in no rush to hit it, but it will be fun to see who can get it first.Oh, and an response to an old nick comment about double spinning osis record: Vasek and I are the only ones to have hit b2b on film (that feels pretty crazy to say). Re: Dr. Bear, The US champion!
Yeah Nick! good job on dbl spinning osis b2b. its a toughie. I have so many other things to school before I go back to that zoomy dlb spin training.
Down to trade tips, though I don't have any specific trick tips really just full body form tips that I have been trying to study.
I think motion sickness b2b is going to be actually kind of easy for me but i'll race to it. never hit flip motion sickness before at all, but today i was 2/2 on footing the combo and it just felt great.
DOUBLE SESSION TODAY!
played with katya from 1130-130, though the first 30 minutes is just yoga time.
some nice long strings and form focus. She had some knee hurts near the end but we think we figured out what is causing it. Her illusions are getting deeper and deeper so nice to see.
Played with Dave from 415-545 pure shreddy.
ss eggs and paradox eggs were going pretty good.
morpheus bsos in a great run.
symp whirl ripwalk rpt practice, i want this dialed.
vortex x6 on the flip side.
vortex -> whirlwind first try.
gyro whirl -> gyro blender not bsos but both sides, i want this rpt.
some decent flip paradons.
a nice barfly swirl.
mobius was on fire.
toe op grifter bsos.
first ever flip pdx grifter, felt easy as could be.
not a ton of great runs, but good work on some illusioning tricks.
3 hours of footbag is brutal. looks like i'll be having 2 a dayers twice a week on top of my already intense footbag schedule, *gulp*
