Re: MetZelRio is pulling a Truman

Post by Cass »

Cool I’m just being attacked all over the place. I’m not sure why this needed to be a public post but I guess I will address it. Even though I’ve exhausted most of my energy this week defending my rights as a woman.

"I love footbag and the community. It is not my responsibility to [virtually] pat noobs on the back and tell them how awesome their toe stalls are."

"Anyone that really cares for this sport doesn't need that anyways."

I will admit that these statements were insensitive at best. My bad. I’ve actually been making more of an effort to reach out lately to be honest. My only point is that nobody should feel like they HAVE to give people props all the time. If I don’t actually know you personally it’s probably just not going to happen.

"Yeah I could totally list all the contributions I've made to the sport and imply that nobody else [aside from a select few] has done anything to help the sport ever."

This was my frustration at the negativity of the whole post, and mood lately on modified. Apparently it rubbed off on me a little. It’s one thing to contribute to the community - that’s awesome! But this whole post came off as a complete bummer and to me it sounded like he was listing all these things in order to have people pat him on the back and tell him how great he is. Not really cool in my opinion.

After I made these statements I was called a pretty harsh name. Fine, whatever. I still attempted to make amends.

Do you know what he came back with? The pm that he sent me was absolutely humiliating and degrading. I only quoted a small portion of it but I will tell you that it had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the disagreement in my blog. I was called a ‘hacky slut’ and told that I should change my ways because I am hurting the community. I was told that most of the community looks down on me for my actions and speaks poorly of me behind my back.

As far as I’m concerned, ESPECIALLY as the only active open level woman freestyler in North America, I have EVERY RIGHT to expose this blatant sexism and defend myself and my actions to the community. There were claims that people are ‘uncomfortable’ around me etc.etc. Since no names were given the only way to actually gain any insight on this topic, aside from what he was telling me, was to make it public.

One of the first things in the pm was something along the lines of “I was going to post this in your blog but I didn’t want to damage your name more than you already have” so I didn’t see why it would be an issue if I posted it myself.

I’ve been making a real effort to have a more positive presence on modified since all this stuff. Apparently that hasn’t been noticed. I guess I shouldn't bother

3 Reasons for this video:

1.) As an introduction video to Freestyle Footbag for those whom I meet in public.

2.) As a way to contact me for those who are interested in Freestyle Footbag and have found me online.

3.) Since my game is improving and transforming due to the counseling and mentoring I've been receiving, this video is a point of reference of where my game was at during the end of July 2014.

Wow there are several trick in this video that I've never even hit. I think the one the impressed me the most was Paradon Swirl.

Cool to see footage in the shred shed. Great memories in the place!

Nicely done.

Really dope video. How much time does this span? Cause you look like you dropped some major lbs in some of the clips. Props all around.

Yes, I did drop major lbs, and still am. I have very much to go. Some of the clips were from my previous run with footbag back in 07. Most of it is since January when I started over, learning the basics and strings instead of one trick at a time. Thanks for watching my video Derek! I always watch yours too. Btw, I think I saw you hit bubbabeater bsos and very well too! It's left an impression on me.

Boo-ya! That's awesome. At this point, though, those last however many pounds will just fall right off. How much weight are ya down? Glad I'm not the only one who dropped a lot of weight from footbag. Snap, I thought there was some older stuff, but that's back there. Ha. Hard not to watch it with such an epic name :) Thank ya! Makes me happy to hear, or, I guess, read.

The more I do drifters, the more I realize I'm not even close to good at them yet. But I am also learning little tricks the more I miss and the more I hit. I made a drifter study playlist if anyone is interested. Also, if you have any consecutive drifter vids to recommend that I add to the playlist, feel free to comment.

"OMGOMG Fanboy" is such a great description of myself when it comes to footbag players.

I just made a MASSIVE list of players who I would freak out inside if I met you, and I would talk about us meeting for YEARS after the occurrence. So many of you are household names in my residence and even my kids know who you all are. I'm not talking about BAP players only. For example, my daughter just turned 4 and she can name the players I watch in videos. We all know who you are.

ALL Y'all Are straight up celebrities to me and my family. If you play footbag and are on modified, this most likely means you. I'm a Straight up fanboy. OMGOMG!!
