Thanks Matt, will update with probably a bunch more Yu-Gi-Oh bullshit soon.

Yea Nick, I think it's a good song too.

Goofiest outfit competition it is. It's on. Yes, very addicted, for many years to come hopefully. Just wish I had started earlier!

Short session today for basically fun I guess, didn't do any real drills but got a little practice in. Couple small highlights:
-Beat my previous toe stall record of 138 with 166
-Orbits x4 (2 BSOS, not sure how to phrase this really, basically just 4 alternating orbits in a row)

Pretty much have my shred planned out for the rest of the week. Wednesday solo session, Thursday a session with my friend Andrew (he's basically where I was at before I started freestyle), probably a session with Matt on Friday, and solo sessions/ possible rest day over the weekend.

Okay, sleep now.

Great to hear that you got a friend into it. Bring him to the session with Matt if you can. I think he'd benefit from seeing some sick guiltless shred. That's always crazy to see. And if you keep it up, I know you'll be there in the future, too.

Nice stuff on the Orbit x4. You noted it correctly, btw. Orbits and ATWs give you the most control out of any basic trick I think. Can't wait to see where you are this time next year. Keep it up dude.

Also, read my blog, I wrote 2 epiphanies I had today in my session. I think you could benefit by reading and thinking about the first one.

See ya at ECFC! Stoked!

Nick: Yea, we both started about a year or so ago, but I progressed a bit more after meeting Matt. So he's basically at the same skill level I was before I got more into freestyle. Yea Matt's shred is some crazy ass shit to watch. I worked it out so we're all gonna have a session on Friday! So that's dope.

Thanks, Orbits/ ATWs are pretty cool. I'm still trying to get them down but they're better than 2 months ago(non-existent lol)! That drill Matt showed me really emphasizes that fact too I think (Legover > SS Toe > Orbit/ATW > SS Toe). You need to have the right amount of control over the bag and the form to properly execute each trick otherwise it just will never happen.

I definitely agree with that post you made. I understand what you're talking about, and I was actually trying what you said in today's session (both Mirages and the ghost movements versus actual shred). Will think on it more though. Thanks for the help!

----

Had a session today, got a decent bit of stuff done! Here's some shit I did:
 Toe Stalls x100 (50 BS)
 Inside Stalls x100 (50 BS, 44 in a row (new alternating inside stall record))
 Inside > Op Toe > Op Toe > Inside x10
 Inside > Op Toe > Legover x20 (10 BS)
 Orbits x20 (10 BS)
 ATWs x20 (10 BS)
 Pickups x10 (5 BS)
 First Mirage hit! 2... Left side I think?

I'm not sure what side is what with these really. What I mean is I started the trick with a set on my left leg, did the dex and stalled back on my left leg again. This felt really really good. Happy vibes right now, and that's just the footbag shit. I wanted to do some Clipper stuff but it was too dark at that point unfortunately.

Non-footbag stuff:

Got a $5 tip for taking some person's picture at work today. And the day passed by pretty quickly despite it being busier than usual for a Wednesday. If anyone was wondering what the track looked like, I took a picture of it a few days ago:

Image

Also, my breaks are just long enough that they allow me to read a chapter of A Song Of Ice And Fire. So every break I can start a new chapter, yay. Hopefully by the end of the track season I will be all caught up on the books.

Yu-Gi-Oh shit below (beware, my inner nerd is coming out):

Haven't progressed that much in the video-game, still need to do more free duels to get better cards (fuck you and your dragons Kaiba). But I did end up with this fucking stacked playing field in one duel:

Image

I may not have three Blue-Eyes White Dragons, but this shit is pretty fucking close to it. Is this what being a god feels like?

Well, you know what they say about your enemies. If you can't beat 'em, join them. So I did:

Image

Yep, got a Kaiba deck off Amazon. Now I can be the one reaping destruction instead of getting fucked in duels all the time. First card in the deck is this beautiful fucking work of art:

Image

Yea that's right. The fucking Blue-Eyes White Dragon. And that shit's mine now. Even the fucking card makers admit that this piece of shit is overpowered as fuck! Just look at this shit:

Image

Anyways, I told all my friends at Siena to grab their old decks so we could all duel when we get back to school. Maybe I can start a Yu-Gi-Oh club and a footbag club! Lol.

Heard a cool song on the radio today. It's called "Here Comes the Hotstepper" by Ini Kamoze:

I think it could be cool shred musik.

That's it for now. Prolly a session tomorrow, we'll see.

Hasta luego amigos.

Session with Matt and my friend Andrew, was pretty fun! We all got some nice stuff; Matt can probably cover his, Andrew got a few good strings of kicks and stalls. He was a soccer player for a while, so his toe kicks are a bit more like how you juggle with a soccer ball. I told him what Matt told me about extending your leg all the way out and flicking your toe so hopefully he'll work on it (me too lol). I should get him to start a footblog too, that would probably help to keep track of progress and development, that kind of stuff. Also told him I could come up with a few drills he could do to improve, so maybe he could write all that stuff down here on Modified.
A few highlights:
 3 more Mirages, BS this time
 Inside Stall > Opposite Toe Stall > Legover > repeat opposite side x4 (25 contacts or so, 8 Legovers in the string)

Tried a few Illusions, didn't get one but I understand the motion a bit better now. Will work more on Pickups, Mirages, Illusions, and Clippers on my next session.

I've been waking up a few minutes before my alarm clock goes off for the past couple days. I wonder if there's something like a biological alarm clock... Maybe waking up and falling asleep at consistent times for work has something to do with it.

Prunus: Haha okay, I actually took some clips from my session on Sunday and today so I'll post a link below! Thanks, I'm trying to go for at least 3 or 4 sessions a week, and I want to try and go for a session every day this week. My Clippers are... Slowly coming along? I think. I really need to focus on them and I very much don't want to. They're pretty much the hardest thing I've had to learn so far. My left one is also pretty dead. Will try and spend some time on them each session this week.

----

Had a session Sunday and today! Sunday's session was mostly just joking around with my sister, so it was basically just for fun and not any real serious drilling. Video below.

On my way to the end of the drive-way, I encountered what only could have been a most epic battle of some sort of insect warfare:

Image

I quietly walked past the two red ants moving the grasshopper carcass, not wanting to disturb their tireless efforts, and started my session.

I got a good bit of work done today! It was my turn to leave a bit early today so I got home around 5:30 or 6 and had a nice long drilling session. Here's what I did, all marathon style:
 100 Inside Stalls (50 BS, 16 in a row)
 100 Toe Stalls (50 BS, 88 in a row)
 10 Inside Stall > Opposite Toe Stall > Opposite Toe Stall > Opposite Inside Stall
 20 Toe Stall > Inside Stall > Toe Stall (10 BS)
 5 Inside Stall > Opposite Toe Stall > Legover > Repeat Opposite Side (1 Time each, so 10 Legovers total for this drill)
 10 Legovers x2 (1 BSOS, 20 Legovers total)
 20 Orbits (10 BS)
 20 ATWs (10 BS)
 10 Clippers (5 BS)
 10 Pickups (5 BS, same as Mirages for form work)
 5 Mirages right side, 2 hit and 2 footed left (Sides refer to dexing leg, these are making a lot more sense on my right at least. Left is just refusing to do the movement, need to work on it more)

Felt good to get all this stuff done. Wish I had this much time and energy to drill stuff everyday. The past couple days at work have been exhausting. I've also been waking up in the middle of the night, multiple times for some reason. Not sure what that's all about, but it's kind of annoying. Weekends for me is when work is the heaviest, usually clocking in around 10 am and out at 6:30 or 7 pm. When I get home there's maybe an hour left of sunlight so sessions are really just not very viable on weekends.

But there's this regular guy who shows up during the weekends and talks to me on my shift and stuff so that's cool. He gave me this book about the history of horse racing and all the different race horses, their owners and jockeys etc. Pretty cool stuff. He showed me some of the outrider horses who go on the track with the race horses and help them to their posts. I got to get up close to them and even feed some of them with carrots and peppermints!

That was really amazing since I've never been up real close to a horse before. They're fucking massive! They don't look it from 20 or 30 feet away but they're 1000 lbs of just muscle and bone. And their ankles are basically the same size as ours, so weird. When you feed them, you have to hold your hand out completely flat, otherwise they might bite one of your fingers off (no joke, they can actually just do that by accident). This guy told me that they rely on smell for eating stuff and identifying people (horses can remember you by your smell he said). I guess they can only breath through their nose because their mouths go straight to their esophagus.

Anyways I'm gonna try to go out and buy some peppermints tomorrow so I can feed them to the horses during some of my breaks during the week (if the riders are okay with it). I'll try to take some pictures of them, my favorite is this grey gelding named Solid Steel. And there's another one named King Arthur who is a whole bunch of different colors; black, brown, white, and blonde all in one horse. And another who has heterochromia so one of his eyes is blue and the other is brown.

Here's the video I was talking about:

Half of it is just messing around, but there's some semi-serious stuff in it too.

In Yu-Gi-Oh related news, I got my sister a deck too and we had our first serious couple of battles!

Image

We dueled twice, I won both times by a slight margin. She's definitely learning more about strategy and card positioning though. She actually almost beat me on the second duel, but I was saved by sheer dumb luck on my very last draw phase. Go figure.

That's all for now. No work tomorrow so I actually have some leisure time, sweet. Will probably hang out with my sister and have another session. Until then, adios.

Your long kickless (Kickless: a string with 1 ADDs and below) string in that video looked great. Huge improvement with your basics since we last played. It's always cool to see yourself improve, but even cooler when other's can see it too, eh? So I can tell you're putting in some hard work. Stoked to shred with you again.

You should horse talk with Kat. She loves horses, too. She's in PSUFC, but I don't think you met her yet.

Your blog is interesting.
Your sister makes awesome noises.
Your insides make me smile. At first, I had typed "smike." Smike is a new word that will describe how important a good, frozen inside stall is to a future clipper. I would like to see lots of frozen inside stalls, then wraps, then clippers. Nice signature btw.

Nick: Thanks bud. I've been drilling that shit a bit, but we already talked about all that last night.I got Matt to show me a Fairy; it looks complicated lol. Ya, same here. Can't wait to out-goof you with my killer outfit. No, I don't think I've met Kat before either. I'll shoot her a message on Facebook or something.

@Ben: Thanks buddy, I try to keep it entertaining. Yea, she's pretty special, I'm lucky to have her as a sister. I have a love-hate relationship with my insides stalls sometimes, they're getting better though. I'll put all that shit on my Clipper session to-do list. Matt told me that for every Clipper session I did, he would do a stepping ducking session lol. The sig is all thanks to you pal :)

----

I had a session with El Kemino today, it was fucking radical. We both hit a bunch of cool shit, and finished off the long ass session with something nice. Matt went over his stuff already, but here's what I got:
 Inside Stall > Toe Stall > Legover > repeat opposite side x6 (40 or so contacts)
 Inside Stall > Toe Stall > Pick-up > repeat opposite side x1
 Pick-ups x2 B-sauce (Pick-up > Opposite Side Pick-up... I think. I'm not good at denoting this shit)
 Pick-up > Mirage x1 BS (No B-sauce yet)
 Legover > Pick-up > repeat x1 (so Legover > Pickup > Legover > Pickup)
 Mirage > Legover > repeat x1 (same as above only mirage)

Getting a better feel for mirages on both side, it's kind of weird. I did them a few times on my right and they just made sense, and this session was great for helping with my flip side. Similar story with pick-ups.

Our dear friend Nathan joined us for a little while, sporting trench coat and jeans. He actually got some nice highlights too, although he ignored half my questions again :\ something's up with that guy. Anyways, he hit this weird trick that was like a leg-over but from an inside stall and ending on the same. It was pretty fucking cool, I'll have to mess around with it for fun sometime.

Image

P.S. Matt's shred is fucking disgusting and is probably outlawed in several countries.

Nick: Thanks bud, I'm stoked too. And thanks for all the advice.

@Cassy: Thanks! It felt pretty nice to hit, getting nice control on my leg-overs. Matt says I need to focus more on other tricks now lol. I only do outside stalls occasionally. That's a good idea though, thanks.

@Prunus: Thanks dude! I'm still getting used to them, will take some drilling but I'll get them down tight. I need to focus more on doing the dex with my knee leading and more "locked in" I guess. I like the feel of Mirages the most out of any trick I've learned so far, so cool doing them! Gonna try and get more footage in the coming weeks.

----

Had a session with Mr. Kemz today. It was okay, though I felt sort of... Rusty after 3 days of no footbag? Or like more under-practiced than I would have liked. Hit a couple things...

 SS Mirage (BS)
 Legover > SS Legover > repeat opposite x1 (BSOS)
 Mirage > SS Legover (BS)

I owe Matt 1.5 hours of Clipper bullshit. Might do that tomorrow on my day off, hanging out with friends I think so we'll see.

Matt and I came up with a new footbag term. It's like B-sauce but the complete opposite. So we said "shit-sauce" whenever we fucked something up.

Also, I always leave a few grapes leftover from my lunch and offer some to Matt whenever we have a session. So today he was like:
"Dude, why do you always have grapes on you???"
"Just in case man"
"What, like in case of emergency?"
"Yea!"
"In case of emergency, break bag"

So yea, I like my emergency grapes.

Buying a set of speakers (thanks for the help Ivan) so I can listen to some music while I play. I used to always play with headphones in but ever since I started freestyle there's not a lot of room for phones in pockets or wires moving around. And the default phone volume doesn't really cut it so speakers will be sick to have! Matt and I can totally shred to some nice tunes, namely A Tribe Called Quest.

So yea, that's cool. That's about it for now, will report back after my Clipper session.

Edit: Fuck you Matt Kemmer, I'm going to be sore as hell tomorrow.

I started hitting my flip side clippers real nice. I enjoy the feel of them just like your mirages. However my strong side clipper is becoming my flip side. Which may be good and may be bad. Reading everyone's blog makes me want to start my own. I have been putting some thought into it.

Prunus: Nice dude, yea I just had a Clipper session and they feel a lot better than they did before already! I see you already made a blog, sweet! Blogs are surprisingly fun.

----

Well, like I said, Clipper session today. I matched Matt's 1 hour of Stepping Ducking and added on another hour. So if you're reading this Kemmer, you now owe me 1 hour of stepping ducking. Hop to it.

Here's what I got (marathon style):
 200 Inside Stalls (100 BS, 26 in a row)
 100 Inside > Wrap > Hand Catch (50 BS)
 80 Clipper Position > Clipper Stall > Hand Catch (40 BS)
 60 Clipper Hop Set (30 BS)
 60 Clippers (30 BS)

Prunus: Yea sure thing. What is the challenge exactly? Haha, thanks. Drilling is just as fun as normal shredding to me so I enjoy it (even these clipper drills).

----

Session with Kemsauce today/ yesterday. Went okay, I wasn't feeling it for some reason. Hit a couple of things:
 Mirage x 6 3 bsauce (not in a row obviously, some toe stalls in between)
 Ss mirage > Ss mirage

Clippers are looking better I suppose. Need to work on them more than other concepts I think, but I can't forget the other stuff too. ATWs are starting to lose their form almost or something like that. I don't know, they just felt really weird this session. Legovers I can probably put on the backburner for now as I can get 5 or 6 in a row consistently. I'll still drill them a bit, they just won't be the primary focus.

More stuff soon. I have some thoughts I need to lay out somewhere.
