Hey Clinks, here my current challenges below. Toe flicks are impossible for me. My highest ever was 15 in a row, but now, I am lucky to get 6. :/ I have already hit my toe stall goal. I just need to record it now. Inside kicks and stalls are way harder for me with the new Rod Lavers. I think, you hitting these won't be a problem for you at all.

Wake up an hour before you intended? Why not footbag? Had a nice early morning Clipper session today, really starting to feel it pay off. There was fog outside, that was weird to see:

I think the last one was more luck than anything at the moment, as Matt has told me about new b-sauce things. But I think it's a good exercise to keep in mind for the future because it forces me to set correctly out of Clipper position.

Section A. Short Story for Cassy:
Well since I did a couple of bare-footbag session posts, I guess some people missed my random shit I write here. I promised Cassy I would write a short story just for her today. So I'm delivering in part (there's more random crap below, if that is more of what you were looking for). This is a fictional short story, of which I have now written a total of two. So it'll probably be shitty but whatever. This is a story about a boy building a snowman, and all the trials and triumphs along the way. It is not finished, but if anyone is interested in hearing the rest let me know. So here it is:

A little boy looked outside and saw his first glimpse of snow. A blanket of white spread over the front lawn, while sparkling crystals drifted slowly down from a cloudy sky.

The boy ran downstairs to put on his new winter clothes. He put on a red coat, blue snow pants, and a red trapper hat. On his hands and feet he wore red mittens and green snow boots.

He sped past the front door and porch to behold his new white wonderland. All the grass left after a short fall was buried under the snow on the lawn. His mother has told him how to build a snowman the day before, and he set to work at once.

"Remember", she said: "three circles of packed snow on top of one another. The biggest for the legs and feet, then a smaller one for the body, and smaller still for the face. You can use branches for arms, rocks for the eyes and mouth, and a carrot for the nose. If he gets cold, you can even give him a scarf."

The boy worked all morning and well into the evening. He spent a good few hours on the biggest ball of snow alone. The sloped hill that was his front lawn turned out to be a great way to gather snow; he would roll his packed ball of snow uphill and down again until he was sure it was big enough. He stopped a moment to take a breath, after all, he was only a little boy, his snow companion a full man grown. His round cheeks were blushed a rosy red, and his arms were tired from all the pushing and packing.

The rest of the work wasn't as bad as the first part, or so the boy thought. The sun was slowly coming down when he finished the third and final piece of his snowman. He had to run inside and grab a chair to put the snowman's head on properly; he couldn't reach it even on his tip-toes. He sat and admired his hard work for a time, then went back inside a second time to collect a carrot for the snowman's nose. The little boy found a few branches nearby a tall oak tree, as well as some rocks for the eyes and mouth. He put on all the new features quickly, frowning slightly in concentration.

He stepped off his chair after he was finished to give the snowman another look, almost tripping as he climbed down-- his legs were tired from all the walking. Something was missing, the boy was certain of it. It came to him a moment later: "A scarf", he thought "I need a scarf for the snowman, he must be so cold."

He bolted back inside a third time to grab a red scarf from the closet, and put it around the snowman's neck as he went back outside. After that, the boy was happy and gleeful, proud of his new creation, his new friend. He couldn't wait to show the snowman to his mother, certain she would be pleased. Just then, the boy saw an old man walking down the sidewalk...

So yea, that's it so far. Part II later maybe. On to footbag stuff!

Section B. Session with Matt:

Had a session with Kemburger. It was pretty short because we had dinner at my house beforehand and he met my family. I guess now he knows why I'm so fucking weird. So that's good. Anyways, didn't really do much but I got a couple things:
2 of this: Mirages x6 (3 Bsauce, not in a row)
Mirage > Pickup BS

Felt great to play after a day at work though, and I got to leave a bit early which was nice. Need to work more on Clippers I think, right side still won't fucking hop. Matt told me to try videotaping myself doing them on both side, I might try that tomorrow.

Section C. Physical Changes/ Goals:

I can feel my body changing, and it's pretty god damn strange. My calves are rock solid from all my training with basics, and I'm starting to feel sore in leg muscles I didn't even know existed. I used to talk a lot about having pain in my quads/ hip flexor muscles when I first started doing Legovers, Pickups, ATWs, things like that. But for the most part, that's all gone! Now it's just soreness basically. So I guess my body is finally getting used to all these weird ass unnatural movements. Like seriously, when do you ever do anything like a Mirage outside of footbag? But yea, starting to feel better about my body. I'd like to develop a bit more core strength and be more fit overall, but I'm on the right track I think.

Section D. Footbag-related phenomena:

I've been having some weird stuff going on related to, but not exactly footbag. Matt says I'm going through all the levels of footbag obsession or something lol. Every day at the track I look around at people's shoes to see if they would be good for footbag. Like do they have a nice inside stalling surface, or a possible toe pocket with some mods maybe. I've seen a few shoes that actually look like they could be pretty good, but most of them either look too heavy or not durable enough for extended use. Oh well.

Also having a few footbag related dreams. In one dream, a bunch of footbaggers and I were at the track where I work, and we were all just fucking chilling on benches talking to each other or shredding. Really strange stuff. In another I was in this swampy bog type place where I came upon an encampment of footbag freestylers. Apparently they had stolen a cruise-liner to get to ECFC and Nick Landes was the captain. So uh yea, that was weird.

Even starting to think of good combos/ drills to do while I'm not busy at work. I've thought of a few, I'll have to try them out in sessions to come.

Section E. Yu-Gi-Oh Shit: I got another deck for my sister and we've been dueling a bit recently. She's still getting better, even managed to beat me a few times. She's got the classic Yugi deck (no Exodia) while I've got the Kaiba one. I also had a few duels with my friends Andrew and Jack on my day off last week. I beat Andrew's old school deck twice, but on the first duel I basically cheated by using a spell card incorrectly. He probably would have won that one if I didn't mess up, so it's about even I think. Jack has some nasty ass strategy decks, he beat me twice and I won once. He destroyed me in one, I lost about 0-900 lifepoints in another, and I won in a landslide in the last one. We would have played more but it was the last time we could hang out before he left for Japan so we did some other shit (play Pokemon and watch Avatar:TLA lol).

Section G. Random events/ thoughts:

Sorry for the lack of photos in this post. Haven't really taken any new pictures recently, will work on it.

i finished the second book in the series A Song of Ice and Fire, and just starting getting into the third one at work today. I love Arya's character so much, Team Stark for life.

I met some fucking goon at the track a few days ago. He was pretty crazy, comes up to me on my post at track, introduces himself as Dan too. I was like oh that's neat, but then he starts going on about how both our names are holy and biblical, and thus we're both Lordly people in the eyes of God. I was kind of just thinking okay... Weird way to introduce yourself but whatever. Then he starts talking about how the whole world is full of corruption and evil, and how some women at the track are "harlots" (he actually said this), smoking cigars and having tattoos and what not, how dare they. So at this point I'm kind of like uh... This is not right.

But it gets even better, because then he goes on about a bunch of different get rich quick schemes and how I could make a fortune in the stock market. So then he tries persuading me to invest in some Chinese company stock or something and at this point I'm just thinking okay, this guy is insane. Just smile and nod, it'll work out itself. So he buggers off after a while (only after writing all that crazy shit on a business card, along with his phone number), and what happens next a few days later? My sister runs into the same fucking weirdo, and he tries the same shit with her.

She was just waiting outside the store she works at to get her paycheck, and he comes up to her, saying the same stuff. So she gets her paycheck and the guy is like "oh wow, I haven't seen a check in a while. Can I see your paycheck real quick?" Like the fuck? Luckily my sister fucking dips out of there quickly, after the guy gave her his Twitter account. I can give a link if anyone's interested, shit is kinda nuts.

Anyways, that's what's been up with me for the past few days. Weird fucking world we live in. Cya.

Dude this is exactly the type of story I wanted! I'm not sure what possessed you to write about a snowman in August. That was random and cool also. And especially cool since you wrote it specifically for me. But yeah I was totally looking for more random real life situations and this one just totally hit the nail on the head


Footbag does absolutely great things for the legs and core. It feels damn good to see those changes happen. You'll be shredding two hours a day without any soreness in no time if you treat yourself properly and stretch well. I also recommend doing 10-20 pushups per day to balance the upper body a little. That's all it really takes to get some definition (at least for me).


You're coming to east coasts, yeah? I expect you to be shredding some solid tiltless runs by then

Dan, How was the second book? I am going through it slowly, but I love it. I wanted to read all of them before I go back to the show.

Oh man, I could go on and on about stocks and investing. I disagree with the crazy guy's advice on the chinese company. However, I will stop there for everyone's sake. Please include his twitter account. Also, I had a pretty random run in with a 67 year old american fluent German speaker Vietnam war veteran cyclist on Sunday.

I was wondering what Cassy meant by the "tell me a store" comment and now, we know.

Cassy: Oh okay lol. Sorry about that then. Glad you liked it though. Yea footbag is amazing. Starting to get a real workout from it. I'll definitely keep that in mind, thanks. Yep, I think so. Money isn't really an issue thanks to working the summer, and since it's Friday-Sunday I wouldn't be missing a lot of classes.

@Prunus: The second book was amazing. I read it during my breaks at work so I can actually get through a decent bit every day. Yea I'm trying to get up to date on the books before the next season of GoT. 

Lol yea, it sounded pretty scam-tastic. Okay, will do. Really? That's... Extremely specific. Odd.

@Ben: Hmm okay, I might work on it more lol. Of course, we can shred and duel after oh boy.

Had another early morning clipper session. I've been having trouble hoping on my right clipper before the stall so Matt told me to video myself doing both sides of clipper and compare them. Makes so much sense now! After that I basically forced my body to hop before getting into clipper position and they feel a lot better now. Here's what I did (marathon style):

 20 inside > wrap (10 bs)
30 clipper position > stall (15 bs)
40 clipper hop sets (20 bs)
150 clippers (75 bs)

The war veteran was bat shit crazy as well. I stopped replying other than grunts. However he kept going on and on. By the way, your 150 clippers, are they total attempts or are you sticking 150 of them or are they 150 in total with 75 being flipside? None-the-less, that's a lot, man. How long are your sessions? For myself, it's usually about hour to hour and half with warm up.

Prunus: Lol yea, that's pretty much exactly what I did after a while with my weirdo guy. I did more than 150 attempts, but that 150 is the total number I "stuck" yea. So 75 on both sides. I try to go for at least an hour, 2 or 3 if I have the time and energy for it.

@Dan: Yea, I heard that song on the radio a few days ago, pretty sweet. I'll have to check out some of their other stuff. I dig Alexisonfire, that was a sick cover. This is my favorite song by them:

Massive wall of images and photos incoming.

Okay so Tuesday was my day off, and I decided to take a rest from footbag for the day. Instead I went on a little adventure with a bike ride through the nature trails near my house. I took a few pictures to show ya peeps if anyone's interested in this kinda stuff.



This was a really big hill down onto another pathway. I considered riding down it and then decided it wasn't worth the possible broken neck I would undoubtedly get falling off.



Some trees and stuff. I saw a bunch of chipmunks and squirrels and stuff like that. Bunch of birds chirping and singing. Would have been pretty serene if not for all the bugs attacking me.



A sort of depression in the earth. Just thought it looked neat.



I found this old/dead spiky gnarled tree a bit after I thought I was going to be lost in the woods forever (I had gone around in a circle and got confused). This evil looking tree did not do much to soothe my fears.

A few deer unfortunately trying to cross the road. Sorry for the blur/ pixel-ness, I had to zoom in on my camera because I didn't want to get too close to them. Nick and I actually talked about this exact thing a few days ago. I guess a long while ago my whole neighborhood used to be all woods but then people started moving in and building roads and houses and all that shit. So now most of the habitat here is fragmented into smaller pieces. Kinda sad, I hope the little guys made it across okay.



This is another gazebo near my house. Talked about possible future shred here with Matt, I did a few Mirages on the wood surface and it seemed solid/ level enough.

Dueled my sister a bit more in Yu-Gi-Oh! She got mad that I always win and now she refuses to play again lol. Says I'm cheating etc. Oh well, hopefully I'll play more with my friends when I get back to school in a few days.

Speaking of school, I'm very excited to be going back. Hopefully I'll have a bit more time for footbag and other hobby stuff. I've been thinking about starting a footbag club here at Siena, I'm not sure about this semester though. I don't know the level of interest of that sort of thing here but I figure if I could get 2 or 3 people on board the footbag train, then it'd be worth it. Only reason I'm hesitant is because if there was interest and we started having regular sessions, a good chuck of the teaching would probably fall into my hands as Matt would only be available at specific times I think. And I would want to master basic kicks and novice/ intermediate tricks before feeling confident teaching them to other people. So we'll see how it goes this semester with my sessions on campus.
