Post by Asmus »

This is post number 1000 in my footblog!!

Yesterday I had a little two man session with the NZA. It was rough and tough for both of us but good fun anyways. Had some decent highlights for once.

- A run with both ducks, both weaves, both spins and drop on the last gyro
- Ended the session with Pixie Quantum Legover > Enterrage

Nis had a run starting with Phoenix > PS Whirl > around 30 contacts, he also hit Blurriest > Mullet

So in my last post I mentioned that Danish Champs might be in Aalborg. That is official now. The only details I have are these, but you should all come:

Danish Champs 2014 will be in Aalborg from 3. to 5. of October.
The event will take place at Platform 4 in the heart of Aalborg!

Free accommodation for all players.

https://www.facebook.com/AalborgFootbag
http://platform4.dk/

Here is a video from last time Danish Champs was in Aalborg. Mads Hole edit with some good Jorden Moir footage:

I should make something like this for BSOS.IT

Worlds 2015
I would love to be able to invite you all to Denmark for Worlds right now. But as most of you probably know dealing with municipality and other public bodies is a slow process. I am still confident that Worlds will be in Denmark but it will take a little longer before you can start looking at plane tickets. Next step for us is that we have a big meeting with the municipality and our location on September 2. after that we will send our final application to WOC and hopefully get the go. Let’s go!

Session
Had a session yesterday with Kim “The Duke” Mortensen at our semi-new indoor spot. Just like my last 2-man session with Nis it was pretty rough. I need to play more.
Neither me or Kim played well. He did a bunch of Stepping Whirls which is always cool. I had two highlights:
- Tapping Legover bs
- Tapping Reverse Whirl bs (first try on both sides)
I don’t know if any of them are new but they did feel kinda new.

Sayonara!

urgh, "the man" takes so long to give you the stuff you want. I am thinking about a Scandinavian vacation weather worlds are there or not, but worlds would definitely make the trip a lot more possible.

Had a 2 man session with Verena last thursday. Verena had sore legs from football(what most of you probably call soccer) and I had been a little sick, so nothing interesting to write about there.. I did however have a great and fun session yesterday!

Image

Every thursday in September and October we play on area outside of where we had Danish Open 13 from five to six. The venue pays us a little money in exchange we have to try to involve the kids in the area. I was there early and got a little worried that I would be the only one. Finally Mathias “Madame Trix” Blau showed up. Soon after that Rasmus showed up, he just moved back from Amsterdam so it was great to see him again. Then Nis, Troels, Andreas and finally Verena turned up. Nis just delivered his final thesis in political sciences. Congrats to him.

First me and Mathias took a couple of photos of each other with this new fisheye. Those of him for his new manager/booking agent. Congratulations to Mathias for getting that hooked up. Hopefully he will get a lot of shows out of it.

I tried my best to play with everybody and managed to do so except with Verena. It made it a little hard to focus but I did play better than the two last sessions. I hit no less than 2 new tricks for the first time on both sides and they are even actual footbag tricks.
- Pdx DLO bs
- Pixie DLO bs

The last Pdx DLO took way too long to hit but it shows that my DLOs have come a long way and that I should start to incorporate them more.

Afterwards Lise and Kim showed up and we had a small meeting mainly because Nis, Kim and Rasmus had a meeting with the venue for Worlds last tuesday but also because Lise and Mathias had stuff they wanted to discuss.

Speaking of Worlds: We have final confirmation we got the venue we wanted for free. Now we are working with WOC on the final adjustments to our application. Expect to hear something more offical very soon!!

Here is a little teaser, this is the gym we plan on using for part of the freestyle competition. I think it looks super cool.

Just wanted to thank you for starting your efforts/bid for Worlds so early. The earlier a date/location is locked in and announced, the higher the chances players can book flights and make it.

Also, props on Smog on both sides. That's a great trick.

Yeah, the earlier the better. I don't think the destination has been known a really sufficient amount of time ahead since Berlin in 2009.

I couldn't agree more with both of you!

Last saturday we did a workshop/show which turned into a normal session at this anti-violence day at the house where we have our thursday sessions.

I played like crap, since I was super hungover. But it was still an awesome day. You never go wrong with free beer, good company and amazing weather.

Here are the most footbag related photos the photographer there took:

Hello all kinds of different genders, skin colors, nationalities, sexual orientations and what have we. I love you all.

So, what have been going on on the meadows of the Ass Moose? Not much footbag related..

A little over a week ago the Footbag Denmark crew rented a cottage and had a nice chill weekend together. In attendance were: Jan, Nis, Rasmus, Jasper, Troels, Andreas, Mathias and I. Good times! Cats, cows, pool, sauna, beach, lots of 4square, food and fun. There are some photos on our facebook page. Definitely not the last time we do something like this.

Mathias filmed his entry for the Rubberman contest there and ended up winning. So congrats to the lil homie.

Other than that I haven’t done anything footbag related. Working a 40 hour work week, studying Project Management 12 hours a week and trying to date a nice young lady doesn’t leave much room for anything else. But I plan to play twice this week and twice next week. Hopefully that will be enough for being almost ready for Danish Champs.

Gonna play with Chris Dean in one of the coming days hopefully. Always been a big fan of his style so I really look forward to that.

Hung with Chris Dean yesterday. Cool dude. We drank a shitload of beers. One of the places we went was a clown themed bar named “Klovnens”

Session yesterday in the yellow room with Andreas and Kim. Started out fun, played surprisingly well for not having played for a couple of weeks and it was good to hang with the guys. I hit Symple Legover > DATW [rpt] which is a fun little drill and hit Neo Swirling Osis inspired by Cassy - Neo Swirling Dyno would look cool. Then I twisted my ankle…

Luckily it was the other ankle than last time which was super bad. This is not too bad. But it means I will miss competing at Danish Champs for the first time in 10 years!

Danish Champs is this coming weekend in the wonderful town of Jutland. It is gonna be sweet. Sick venue, well planned and funded event, special guest = Everything a footbag tournament need!

Only good thing about being injured is that I will be able to film a lot. I like making videos.

Here are the answers to the quiz:
  • 1. 1999
    2. Between 0 - 100
    3. 1
    4. Additional Degrees of Difficulty
    5. Ben
    6. 7 (CLIP > OP IN [DEX] > OP OUT [PDX] [DEX] > OP IN [DEX] > (back) SPIN [BOD] > OP CLIP [XBD] [DEL]) [dex] [pdx] [dex] [dex] [bod] [xbd] [del]
    7. Jester
    8.Renegade
    9. Jeremy, C-Fan &Muffinman
    10. Bladerunner
    11. Hackrifice
    12. Grand
    13. Mühlacker
    14. Yes, if you don't disturb others
    15. Stinky
    16. Johnny Suderman, Kevin Regamey, Steve Goldberg, Anssi Sundberg and Aleksi Airinen
    17. Grab Your Balls and Squeeze
    18. Tobias Larsen(1), Rasmus Rendsvig(2), Rune Lau Petersen(3)
    19. 2
    20. Tommy
    21. 9
    22. Mouth Catch
    23. Keanu Reeves & Alex Winter
    24. Eliot Piltz
    15. Fear of knees

Danish Champs were sweet. Søren did a great job organizing, Milan was a rockstar like always and I had a good time with everybody.

Here is a photo Milan took of me dreaming boozy footbag dreams.

Jan has been uploading videos from the event here. Check ‘em out.

That was last weekend. Time flies.

This weekend I went to a concert with Lise Thygesen. We used to do this all the time so it was nice to catch up, party hard and what have you. Interesting news is that she is trying to make a return to footbag. Her foot is still completely fucked up but she did have two secret solo sessions lately. I am crossing my fingers for a full return to former glory. Lise rocks!

Note to self: Hit this!

That would be great if Lise gets back into it, she has a really cool style. Always great to have more of those top female players getting back into action.

That quiz confused me. I thought

Atomic Eggbeater = Wifebeater
Sailing Eggbeater = Bladerunner

If Worlds are in Denmark, that's quite close to Prague. That could mean I might be able to afford it. :D
I hate bad form and I'm a hypocrite.

I finally returned to footbag yesterday. Ankle hurt a bit until it got warm and it was hard to crank but it feels almost completely fine today, a little stiff but flexing it under the desk at the office should take care of that. I am optimistic.

I got the honor of playing my entire session with the man, the myth, the legend - Mads Neuhard! What a guy! Here he is with my favorite routine of all time:
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9lEFaes8WE[/youtube]

In attendance were also Nis, Kim (saw him hit Vertigo [bsos] - it looked sexy), Troels, Andreas, Verena and Rasmus hanging out. Mathias was there for a our meeting before.

Speaking of the meeting: WORLDS ANNOUNCEMENT VERY SOON *FINGERS CROSSED/PRAYING TO ALL KINDS OF GODS/SACRIFICING A SMALL LAMB AND A PAIR OF NEW SHITTY LAVERS*

That’s all for now.
