I was able to hit it once but couldn't stick the last contact once I started recording. I tweaked something in my knee early on and had some pain in the support leg whenever I went for the op clippers. Icing it now in hopes it doesn't ruin the weekend. I've been thinking and talking to Cory about maybe coming out for NYJ depending on our finances. That's all for now. Kick on.

This one will be short. Today was an okay session. Spent basically the whole time working on
Far Butter>SS Pickup>Rpt>Far Butter> SS Legover>Rpt.

I've gotta get some more stuff done before bed, so I'll just leave this here

Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
Better than tightening a belt around your knee and cranked ankle and sleeping like that. Don't try that. Bad stuff. You can't walk the next morning. Bad news bears.
Other ways to increase crank: Hop overs and Reverse Hop overs, Reverse Swirl (might be tough at first, but you can work toward it) and Flapper. Other nontrick ways to increase crank is just sitting around doing whatever and just putting some weight on your cranked ankles. That was a really good one I used to do while like sitting in class or watching a movie or something. One which you could try is one that I know worked the best for me. I used to walk around with 5 pound ankle weights really early on. I did it for a little less than a year and my calves grew a ton, which increase crank, as well. My theory is that stronger calves let you crank your ankle way more intensely.
Your drill is awesome though. Really great for crank and for balance. Your stuff is looking great man. Keep it up.

Thanks Nick,
You're always pushing me and giving great advice. I've been doing a lot of calf raises while holding a 15 lb kettle bell in each hand whenever I get the chance and have found it to really help with my crank, and as a bonus makes staying on the toes easier which helps with knee pain.

Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
I like that drill. I'd also like to explain why Nick is correct. This is an important thing to remember, yet most players don't believe it at first.
Crank is strongly dependent on the strength of the muscle that's responsible for it. Doing Insides and Clippers is the safest way to exercise those muscles. You can do some of what Nick has suggested, unless you know you generally have weak bones/joints.
Some people think genetics contribute to your crank a lot, but I am fairly sure people with a good crank have just worked hard on them. I know Vašek did, and Nick probably as well. I have a rule that, if your leg is off the ground (inside stall, wrap etc), it's training your muscles, stretching your ankles and not messing anything up. If your ankles are on the ground (standing on them during day, walkover etc), it's doing very little for you and there's a risk. This last paragraph is just an opinion, but it's definitely possible to get a good crank without any Walkovers and such. I think of Walkovers as a result of one's crank, not resulting in it.
I have no idea whether this is any useful to anyone, but it's the sort of information I wish someone had told me when I started learning clippers. Would've saved me a lot of time.

Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
This weekend was a pretty good one for me. On Saturday, I went and visited a couple gyms to see if any had good room for me to train. I found one that has a lot of good cardio equipment, some kettlebells, and a big open gym which is really all I need. They gave me a 7 day pass for taking a tour.
Yesterday I went up there and had a nice warm-up on the eliptical, then did some calf raises with weights, and headed off to the gym to practice. After a few dozen warm up kicks I went to work mostly on SS Clipper> Osis rpt I think my new record was somewhere around 6-8 Osis contacts. I ended up getting really hungry and having to call the session.
After lunch and a small break I spent fourty minutes or so working on BOP BSOS and was never able to set the osis clean enough into the Pdx on my flipside so I just got frustrated and quit.
My calfs were really sore today. I think I may have upped the weight on my calf raises a little too soon. For a while I've been using 30lbs when I do them and yesterday I did 50lbs. It might have just been a little too quick of an increase.
Highlight of the day. I won an ebay auction on some made in china Lavers
. They're a half size larger than I wanted but at least theyre lighter than the ones I have now and will keep me going until I can find a perfect pair.
Gonna go watch Elementary now. have a good day and shred on.

Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
.After resting for a few days my calves were finally up for a shred. I went to the gym after work last night and warmed up for five minutes on the elliptical and five minutes on the stair climber. After that I found an open corner in the gym and started with inside kicks for a couple minutes. made it to around 40 before they got sloppy. Then I did a few minutes of toe kicks, these are tougher but definitely getting better. I did Same Inside stall>Op Inside stall rpt to about 20 contacts before breaking form. Ive been working on SS Clipper>Far Clipper rpt and SS clipper> Osis rpt for almost two weeks now and they are really getting more comfortable. My Clippers and Osis felt much more slow and deliberate than they have in the past which is really helpful. I wound up cutting the session early as Im sure ill be at the gym training everyday this weekend and didn't want to over work my legs. I'll try an get some footage of my sessions this weekend a post an edit and blog on Sunday. My new/used Lavers should be arriving today or tomorrow! I've been training and playing with the new made in china Lavers since I started freestyle back in July and simply cannot wait to play with something less than bricks on my feet. I read Ken's interview on BSOS this morning which made me watch David Clavens Autumn video for the first time. That was ridiculous, Such a dense video. Truly inspiring.
Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
Hello again everyone. I went to the Gym on Saturday for a short session that ended up turning into a 2 hour session. I spent some time working on a couple new concepts and some old ones that need work.
New tricks and links from Saturday
SS DLO B2B (first time flip)
Ducking Clipper B2B (I've hit them before but not B2B)
B2B Legover x20ish (new personal record, but I lost count)
PDX Mirage>SS Clipper Rpt X6 (new personal record)
Clipper set DLO> Dada Curve (only strong side, New rewind)
Today was an even better day than yesterday. I spent about 4 hours at the gym with Cory Allen. We spent the first half hour on the treadmill and eleptical. We then did about an hour of drills: inside stall to same clipper 6 contacts bs, ATW both directions bs x5, 20 inside stalls b2b, SS clipper x10, then some no bag practice on swirl and clipper squats. After all that we moved onto shred for a few hours.
New tricks and links from today
Ducking Mirage from toe and clipper (The timing is tough so not bsos yet)
Pixie Far Legover B2B (first time flipside)
SS Clipper x 10 (First time making it to 10 on flipside)
There was probably some other stuff that I hit and don't remember but all in all its been a fantastic weekend. I got my New(Made in Indonesia) Lavers on Friday and oh geez When you guys talked about the new (made in china) lavers being bricks compared to the old ones I thought you were exaggerating. After playing in both I cannot believe I ever played in the new ones. I made that post on the Facebook group about rewinds and had way more responses than I expected. Although most of the links people mentioned are incomprehensible to me the idea of someone hosting an online comp for it is really exciting. I'd love to watch the submissions and maybe even participate for the first time.

Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
Wow I sure have been slacking on getting this thing updated.
Monday was the start of my new schedule at work. I switched from 10:30am-7pm to 7am-3:30pm so I should have a lot more daytime hours left to dedicate toward getting back into school and training footbag. I haven't kicked a whole lot of the past week. My knee has been in some pain and kept me from doing much. I have an issue where my kneecap (Patella) doesn't track correctly. It sits a little off to the side so im taking a few days or a week off of footbag to do knee strengthening exercises. I also bought a brace from the pharmacy to wear when I do get back to training. Cory, Nick and I have started using a group message that we update anytime we work out or cross train for footbag. It has been a really great tool for keeping motivated and motivating each other.
I bought my plane tickets for NYJ on Monday! I couldn't be more excited for this event. As soon as im in the clear with my knee I will be getting back to drilling basics and working on getting my consecutive's up. I have a few short term goals for myself in preparation of New Years Jam.
The First is the most important: No New Tricks, I'm hoping to avoid trying any new concepts for the rest of the month in an effort to really solidify my basics before NYJ so that I can learn the most while i'm there.
Along the same lines my second goal is to hit 20 SS Clippers on BS. My flipside is finally consistent enough that I can make it to ten contacts most tries.
And my third and final goal of this post is Pixie Far Legover B2B x2.

Good clipper stuff. Be careful with DaDa Curves. I swear everyone hates that trick. I had to switch to Drifters, the amount of complaining was unbearable.

Been spending most of my time going through LIMP and other tiltless drills the past week. Today was osis oriented drills mostly SS Clipper>Osis repeat. I dont really feel like writing much so here's a video of some highlights.

Hallo.
Guays are dope.
Would near clipper > far rev guay rpt be a challenge for you?

Ben,
Not sure if this is what you meant. I get confused with near and far terms sometimes. That is a link I've never thought of trying. Thanks!

Re: Kyle Cook Footblog
Not quite what Ben was talking about, though, in my opinion, your version is more challenging (I always considered Near Legovers to be harder than Far).. But Ben was talking about Right foot Clipper> Right leg Far Rev Guay> ss Clipper with left foot> Left leg Far Rev Guay. You should do both and then I'd personally like to see you do Ben's drill> your drill. That would be sick. You're doing really well dude. Keep it going.

Nice, man. I did mean what Nick said. I am stoked you were able to hit the harder version! Easy peasy for you. I'm looking forward to meeting you, mango.

Well. I guess I know what I'll be doing today. Thanks Ben. Thanks Nick. Can't wait to meet you guys.
