NYFA the ocho is dunzo
Had such a great time! Chillin with people I dont normally get to see is bomb. Hogan is such a ridiculous person. Polini almost puked up a gummy bear. I cant believe Johnny Breakdown passed up a flight to mexico for this jam. He was a lot of fun to hang with. Meeting Bob Green was cool. He had some great comments.
Saturday shred at Central Park Bandshell was off the chain. Live drum circle! Live jembay (spelled totally wrong) and other drums like it are my favorite thing to play footbag to. The pigeons were crazy at the Park. They flew so close to the ground. I saw a dude almost get hit by one. BIRDEMIC! I had a great time playing. I didnt hit anything new, cant remember the combos i hit, but i hit the flow zone more than i normally do. I was able to think creatively and on my feet. Hogan definitely surprised me. He has gotten a lot better. His game reminded me of water. On sunday he had this run that reminded me of Pete Bowler. Its nice to see Pete's game creepin into kevins.
Played with Chris today at the beach. Def fealin the positive effects of our last Jam. Stuff felt controlled. Im really starting to understand torque. I hit my best flip torques ever. I hit mobius both sides, and they both felt very smooth. I also hit a new trick, peeking gyro mirage!
Chris hadnt played since he got injured. It actually looked like he improved some. He was so close to ripwalk both sides but couldnt seal it.

Re: david owen beyers
Had a really good session today with chris!
I hit some things for the first time
ripwalk>sidewalk rpt (first time)
7 ripwalks b2b (the most i had before today was 3)
atomic dyno (first time)
i hit vortex first try but couldnt hit it again after that, I hit blurriest for the second time in these heavy shoes (it felt better than the first time)
i also hit a 75 contact tiltless run (that may be my record for most contacts)
I kinked my neck halfway through playing today but kept going.
I may play tomorrow with nyfa depending on my neck, but i also should get my hair cut and wash my car/ catch up on some bullshit. It seems that i always end up playing footbag instead of getting things that i have to done

Big props on the shuffles. That stuff is so tough at first, but you've got yourself a nice leg-up, it seems. Consecutive Stepping ss Clipper is the trick I used to start progressing in stepping. Once you can get it x3 on both sides, that's the bomb. Atomic Dyno is cool. I think it's called Corkscrew. I see our chat about contacts has impacted you too. Nice job on the 75 tiltless. Stoked to play with you in Boston.
Re: david owen beyers
thanks nick. yeah pretty much everything we talked about influenced what i was trying yesterday. The ripwalks and ripwalk sidewalk drill was inspired by nathans progression, 75 contacts was my attempt to get 100 contacts, I actually tried to also hit consecutive stepping same clipper but it didnt happen
Re: david owen beyers
Last session for a year today with Chris, he's going to Australia tomorrow. We are playing in a couple o hours, but we also played yesterday in his garage.
His form is lookin better. This guy is going places in footbag. He has better swirl form from clipper than me on both sides.
Yesterday I hit a dream trick.
Pixie badger (no plant after the pixie set) I have never even hit badger before. Footbag is weird like that sometimes
earlier in the session i hit a super clean pixie muted swirl (second one i ever hit). I think this was a precursor to the pixie badger trick
Pumped I hit a new tripple dexy!

Re: david owen beyers
I've been digging on Pixie Muted Swirls lately. Try treating it like a toe ss swifter, and jump to the side to line up the Swirl and clear it more easily and efficiently. Pixie Badger is pretty wicked! See you in Boston soon!
Re: david owen beyers
Snap, broskies! I dig the highlights, and I'm jealous. Pixie Badger is crazy, and Pixie muted Swirl is a dream trick. Hope to shred with ya again in the near future!

I am getting some serious homesickness from this video right now. Can't wait to get back and kick again...now knowing a little more about footbag, your style is definitely top on my list right next to Juho Marjo.
Re: david owen beyers
thanks Chris! Im supper pumped that you have stuck with it. The next time we play should be epic considering how good you have gotten and will get. As for style, thanks for putting me next to Juho, even though i think his swag level is way higher than mine.

Whut up modifyed?
Just had my first outdoor solo shred sesh of the year! woop woop! Playing outside is the most baller. Although day lytes savings makes me wake up earlier, I appreciate the later sunlight. It allows me to procrastinate and squeeze in a session later in the day.
Practiced some basic ish and hit two cool new things. While not playing footbag, I still have a mental game. Sometimes, in my thinking about footbag, i have moments when I realize that things line up in my game (a click moment, like "that clicked").
Click moments of your lives:
simple swirl from near toe (can only do this starting on the left toe. However, i can hit it almost every time. Hoping to be able to spin/ link other tricks outa this one. It would be sweet to have mid string as well.) I think this may have clicked after seeing Damian Gilnikski hitting rippstien from near toe on a vid
atomic symposium reverse whirl! boom! This shit just makes sence to me starting on right toe. came close on the other side as well. I atomic set and my planted leg just naturally goes up.

First outside NYFA sesh of the season happened on saturday! We played underneath the Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE) cuz it was raining. Hahaha. I love how this winter we have been playing in the shadiest places. two weekends ago, we got kicked out of the subway and just went to a different subway to play. In my head, I am comparing NYFA to Fight Club because they used to fight illegally underneath Lou's bar (I think Lou was played by rip torn). We have been playing illegally in the subways, and loitering underneath expressway, but not fighting each other.
This session included Marc Peralta, Mikie, Drew, Bijan, and me. Bijan and Drew killed it i thought. Bijan had interesting drills. Cant really remember what he exactly was hitting but one of them was like atomic clipper>spinning paradox mirage repeat. Drew hit a bunch of cool things including paradon swirl, and whale tail both sides. Mikie hit a sweet tombstone and blurry drifter. Marc was hitting some ducking butterfly ish, I had some cool links in the beginning of the session that I cant really remember. I hit whale tail. Also, hit gyro symposium reverse whirl for the first time.
It's cool that Marc P. is going to be playing with us more regularly. I love when NYFA gets bigger! After shred we went to an expensive bbq place in Brooklyn. It was alright, just too pricey. After that we went back to Mikie and Bijan's apartment, chilled, watched stupid youtube videos and stuff. Drew lit a receipt on fire with a candle. hahaha
Hopefully we will get to play at washington square park (NYC) next weekend.

Whoa, great turnout! NYFA has quite the crew these days. Awesomesauce.
Re: david owen beyers
Hype for Paradox Symposium University Jam! I saw that evan gatesman aka the gatekeeper aka the silencer will be there via the facebook page, as well as all the other amazing peeps. Looks like this will be another great tournament!
Last week NYFA played with Zac Miley. Really nice to play with someone who has perfect form.
Tomorrow NYFA will be playing at Washer Square Perk, Manhatown.

Whoa. Gatesman is going to Jamps? My jaw is still in the dropped position. Yep, it's still there. Wow. And Paradox Symposium University is funny, I never though of that before. Jaw still dropped. Thank you for letting me know this so I didn't there and faint.
Re: david owen beyers
Wash wash wershington square session was a good time. Drew, Mikie, Bijan, and myself. It was the same day as pillow fight day, hahaha, Cops were everywhere. Drew wanted so bad to say this joke... Someone comes up and asks what we are doing. Answer: This is called pillow fighting. Drew didnt get to say it but I did a couple of times. Mikie had a breakthrough day. He hit a bunch of new stuff! I had a good time playing. I hit this like blurry pickuping atomic kick leg over trick. I want to hit a toe spinning mirage out of that.
Got some ideas:
For Ianek: reverse whirling rotor (like a reverse whriling swirl that bails to gyro inside) almost like the rotor trick inbetween a dyno... kinda) I came close to hitting it but Ianek is all over this. Whirling swirl version would be like a blender
-Mentally I think i can hit jug handle
-double leg overing atomic kick
Jamps is in a couple o days! Pumped. I'm bringing my amp and microphone. Got some silly stuff planed for this. Going to be great to hang wid all them footbag peeps. This last 6 months have been really shitty for me and escaping to PA to hang with the coolest community of personas is just what i need.
