Re: Mathieu
I think I am now out of injuries.. been a while I was out of footbag and been playing the past weeks
Too late to prepare new routine for worlds, already repeating my 2013 routine, so far not crazy but not too bad. Still too many drops, I lost some cardio so the end is really the hard part.
Lately I hit a new trick, pixie muted swirl. Close to hit on flipside
I also finished a run with it, now need to link it.
Another new link: far symple reverse swirl to walkover, super stylish but still too hard.
Hope I can get in better shape in the next 3 weeks before worlds

Re: Mathieu
Glad to have you back in action! The PS Rev Swirl> Walkover sounds sick. And I love Pixie muted Swirl.. I just wish I didn't suck so badly at Pixies, then I could do them better.
Re: Mathieu
worlds are really fun so far, did not play as much as I'd like up to now, but tomorrow is the end of my competitions. Doing semi's in circle and routines, and both in the Vasek pools. I'm still not satisfied of my routine performance, hopefully I saved the best for semi's

Re: Mathieu
oh well, really had a strong start on my routine, I felt like I have this shit, then it got bad..
I need to train harder then! footbag attitude !
For circle, I was up against Filip, Mathias, and Vasek O O
I had no pressure, but I was scared that I would somehow not fit in, but I managed to play great even tough I was very tired, I had 2 runs with over 30 contacts and only had 1 passback on my final run that I went for a fairy spinning trick that I footed. Also tried flurry for my first time in competition, and I nailed it! bedwetter as well (in qualification and semi). I never used steps in comp and I got a few in, felt good.
I still got 4th, but I think I put enough pressure on Filip so he didn't get 3rd by default. I am pretty sure it is my best circle performance, or close to.
today is 2 square, not sure how this will go, I never play beside worlds. It will depend on pools I guess!

Run with fairy dso and spinning reaper
Some easy blurry torques. Need to do midstring now
Footed fairy tale
Footed far rev swirl to pdx torque both sides

Re: Mathieu
last day of comp yesterday, I thought about scratching and not playing, right foot under pain and it's very unpleasant. But I ended up massaging it for close to an hour and it felt sort of OK.
Well I am sure glad I did play, because for one, I have hit my sick 3 in comp, that felt really amazing. I chocked in sick one on my safety, kicking myself twice in the personal area on spinning reaper, but the sick 3 makes up for it largely!
And then I got to play with many players that I have not seen for 9 to 6 years!
the highlight was a circle with Red, Phil, Serge, Verena, and Jakub. We were all tired out, but Jakub did huge runs to help us rest a bit. How often do you get to play with all these people in one circle? I am very pleased, but now at the airport, and very sad and missing everyone already because I will not see most of you for quite a long time.
I am still very motivated, this worlds like most of them gives a good boost of footbag attitude!
Rory Dawson gave me an excellent idea how to modify or make a new routine, and I will edit a new song and I'm VERY hyped about this.
Time to post more videos, I will spend the next 24 hours in airports/planes.

Re: Mathieu
right foot seems ok to play, did 30 minutes yesterday at the beach, and another 15 mins in my yard today, all seems ok.
As I always said, I don't play to get better, but it's always pleasant to progress of course.
I've been thinking what I should work on, and what I should give up on.
flip step, should probably give up, it's been 11 years and I still suck so bad besides the occasional rip walk everything is a drop possibility. Problem is, this opens so much variety in the clipper/toe transition that's it's hard to give up on.
pdx torques, I should work on these, I NEVER do them and they are not so bad. I realized this at worlds when playing with the big boys that I don't miss them so often midstring, I have not even dropped one blurry torque at worlds, but never tried midstring.
flip barrage, should work on it, I stopped doing it at the point it was OK and now it sucks, I can easily fix it and reincorporate it in my game
flip barfly/reaper, I really don't know, when I work a lot on them they seem to happen, but they disappear so fast
pdx drifter, a trick I forgot to do in the past 3 years, I'm not terrible at it, but just missing some speed and timing on the delay, so I stop doing an osis after them unless I try really hard.
fairy sets, I kind of lost the momentum I had after my injury, this deserves some time because I was actually quite good at them and now I'm just OK
atomic/quantum, meh so much work for just the basic tricks, I feel I should concentrate more on my pixie/fairy, and maybe just keep them the way they are for now.
swirls, NO. stick to reverse swirls, sorry ripstein, I hit you at least once each side in those 11 years, that was enough for me. But it's such a cool trick it's hard to pass on working on them more
eggs/dlo's, I like the level they are at, both sides reg/pdx are pretty confortable, they could be better but I have done them in so many variations, step, blurry, fairy pixie, spin gyro and even one side on atomic
I am probable forgetting many components, but I should re-read this before my next session and try to stick to the good stuff and forget what sucks see how it goes.
Looking forward to wednesday for a sess with Ianek and possibly another montrealer, first sess after worlds with people is always a motivating one.

Re: Mathieu
well today I tried a couple of things that I wanted to hit for a while, then I went strategically with stuff I should work on and put aside some other stuff
Finally hit :
far rev swirl-pdx torque both sides
far rev swirl-dlo-pixie whirl-rpt
bedwetter-fairy down, pretty sure I fairy'd out of bed before, but it's been a long time and I want to work to get bed-fairy whirl as a constant link eventually
stuff I worked on:
flip barrage, more consistent, found out why it's been bad since I stopped doing it. I had good practice with osis-barrage. I think that is way harder then clip/butter/whirl to barrage, so it was decent to hit that many times.
flip dyno, why have I stopped doing this? feels easy already and I'm not scared to drop when I go for it now
flip barfly, didn't work on it, but hit some, even flip scorpions tail midstring
I need to keep working on the stuff that I can improve easily and forget some things, because I don't feel much improvement in a long time, altought I have not played much this past winter.

Re: Mathieu
funny how just doing things you forgot makes you feel so much improved
yesterday in lunch break had a 30 min sess, focused mostly on flip barrage and flip dyno
I have dropped very few flip dynos, even got step ss flip dyno
worked on a drill to improve both: barrage-toe drifter-dyno-dyno-barrage-toe drifter (I landed it many times but had to go back to work after lunch was over. only one link I cannot hit yet, but surely will is flip dyno-flip barrage
also got dyno-drifter-drifter-dyno-drifter-drifter-dynodrop, got this one within 2-3 attempts, but I should drill it more
and why drifters in those drills, I feel I have not used enough drifters lately, dropping strong vortex so many times at worlds made me angry, that trick was one of my signature tricks.
busy weekend, I'll try to squeeze a sess somewhere, but it will be hard!

first hard fairy trick out of bedwetter, and couple of drills
need to keep working on flip barrage and flip dyno!

pretty busy these days, but I'm squeezing some time on footbag here and there
today I got flip gyro barrage-pixie whirl, I did strong so long ago so I did it again and added a far rev swirl to it, felt pretty good
tried to play on cam once my girl was sleeping, but it was dark and had a bunch of mosquitoes, really annoying and could'nt see much, gonna film some other time!

Re: Mathieu
I think since worlds, besides the first week I took off, I pretty much played 13 days out of 14.
I'm about to leave on road trip tomorrow, so that will easily remove some days of training, but on a good note, my resolution after worlds was to loose some weight that I put back in the last 4 years.
In the last 3 weeks I have lost 5 pounds, the first ones are usually the easy ones, but I don't need to loose too much, 15 will make me more then happy and should help my game. I don't want to go back to the underweight I was in 2010. I was hitting stuff I can't hit right now like gyro barroque, seems impossible right now, but I will have it back sooner or later

I did it! dropless routine for the first time! What an amazing feeling. Great time at ECFC, also sliver away from circle final had an amazing circle with Kevin Hogan and Pete Bowler. It was super close and lots of fun, you know when you walk out and you think any of the three can win it, that good!
No idea when my next tournament is, but time to prepare my new routine now, this was my last time doing my original zelda routine, but perhaps a new one will be in the work!
