Does this technically count as footage? Try and spot the two clips of me!

So yeah, I made two videos for this Joulukalenteri (which I can now spell). One features Adam "Dr. Smooth" Keith, Michigan's #1 shredder, and the other has the rest of us. That's a lie; Zach, Karrisa, Nikki, David, Brandon, and Rob are not in these videos, and I kinda feel bad for not having more footage of them. That's slightly a lie; I have footage of at least Karrisa and Nikki (and a couple clips of Rob), but I didn't get my lazy butt in gear to edit it. Maybe post-NYJ...? Anyway, feast your eyes upon a representative sample of Michigan Footbag!

TMI, TJ

Homestarrunner references are appreciated here, Erik!

So I've been slacking off on training a bit, in part due to holiday season business. Nate posted some new LOTDs that absolutely destroy my ability to get a perfect score:
- diving clipper to rev swirl
- ss egg to smudge

I think I can get these if I really try:
- osis to spinning osis
- spinning pickup to toe diving clipper

And speaking of those Joulu videos, it was a hell of a time getting those ready to go. I finished the Adam video well in advance, but left the other one until the last possible minute, which means 10 PM on the 17th. 5 hours later, a video was born!

Then YouTube decided to be a butt about copyright and blocked Adam's video :( So I uploaded it to google drive and made it sharable via URL. And Facebook took it down. Twice. Because it was "spam". :x A day later (this morning) I was about to shell out for a Vimeo account when, luckily, the Facebook post reappeared! Still mad though because now Adam's video can't be part of the official playlist. Maybe I can re-edit it with remixes of the songs or something.

That counts.

Hey, I'm waaaay behind on blogging and video posting. I think Polini has some good strings of mine on his phone, so wait until I can get that from him.

This is going to be a short New Years Jam write-up because I am so fucking tired right now. Just a few hours ago, Zach Jahner came over with Ben Babyack on the way to the airport and we shredded for a while. Ben is crazy good now, definitely better than me overall. I'ma have to do some major work if I wanna keep up with him! Definitely a nice way to end a successful jam.

Festivities started at my apartment last Friday. Turns out, my new place can fit two circles at once! Then it was off to Whirlyball (the real reason for NYJ). Erik Chan knows what's up! For the rest of you who might not have ever played it, it's like basketball + lacrosse + bumpercars = AWESOME, and Zach is literally (yes, literally literally) a world champion at it.

This was a much smaller event than in years past we had 13 people come in from out of town, and about twice that in total with the Michigan shredders plus non-footbagger friends. It worked out well. We used Adam's new house as the shred spot instead of renting a big venue and it seemed like everybody got to talk to one another more. Also got to use Adam's kitchen to make massive amounts of burritos for everybody. (Thanks, Sean!) And can't forget about BDA's home-brewed Big Dick Ale....

We had a few Michigan NYJ fist timers: Erik, Tom, and Corey.

So everything was cool until Saturday night into Sunday. Got back to my apartment super late after seeing the new Star Wars, and whaddya know, I spew my dinner into the can! Two delicious burritos down the drain  Honestly, I have no idea what the fuck happened. I was the most sober person there! So I had to rest up most of Sunday and didn't kick again until today. Oh well, still fun.

Random thoughts:
- For fucks sake, Nick Polini is so good. Look for video later because I definitely got a few good strings of his on camera.
- Matt Kemmer is stepping up his game. He's been to 7 competitions since Worlds and was playing longer than anyone else at NYJ.
- I love having people visit my apartment. Beats driving around Michigan!
- I missed Tetris because I was sick, waaaaaahhh

Bye, come again next year.

Thanks for everything, Ryan!
Sucks that you were sick.
I was disappointed that I missed Nick's stand-up, but I knew I was making the trade-off with seeing Star Wars with you guys. Nick is ridiculous. I don't think you can really tell unless you witness in person. The consistency with which he hits the stuff he hits... Like the highlights he posted in his blog don't do them actual justice!

Dan, we would love to host you in Michigan.

Today's session was all about BOP. I wanted 18 contacts of ss butter > osis > pdx mirage, but after 45 minutes of 6-12 contacts, I was feeling pretty tired and hopeless. But then...

This song was playing in the background. It's my mantra now. (C2C - Happy)

Also, how do you embed instagram and youtube videos here?
Edit: Thanks, Dan and TJ, for helping me figure that out.

Insta embed doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

For youtube, just use the youtube button, paste the code in between and that should be sweet.

The embed code? Strange, I did that but it just posted the code itself, not a video. Seems to work fine in your blog, though. Does it matter which browser I use or something? I got Chrome.

I think you mean:

FYI the youtube code to paste looks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvY7Nw1i6Kw

I put that link between

Great work on the BOPs too! One thing I noticed is that you seem to slouch and/or sink down a bit with your clippers. Stand tall and straight, that way you won't lose balance.

Thanks, TJ! You're right, I'll work on posture. I've seen how you look when playing....

Thanks for the help on embedding videos to both you and Dan. I had tried the URL before but it didn't work because they look like this in my browser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvY7Nw1 ... e=youtu.be

Didn't realize I needed to omit the &tfeature=youtu.be thingy.

Had a 2.5 hour session today with Adam, Nikki, and Karrisa. I filmed most of the session but my best stuff happened after my phone ran out of memory :(

 20+ guiltless string
 ducking osis > ducking pdx mirage (new combo!!!)

Got these links on camera. I'll post whenever I get around to reviewing the footage. Don't hold your breath.

 blur > butterfly > blur > string
