Post by QuantumBalance »

Post a reason not to vote for Bush in this thread. To post pro Brush reasons click here. Do not post without a reason. Threads will be defragmented by the moderators. (moderators?) Also, number your reasons and only post if you plan to vote.

Later, we vote.

1. He's outright lied as to why we went to war in Iraq. (first, WMD's, then for Saddam, then finally to liberate the people.)

2. He's pure anti-choice. If the woman is gong to die from having this kid, she's screwed, nothing around it.

3. He trys to get votes by attempting to get crazy legislation passed. Now, I'm not racist (at least I try not to be. ), but the latest bit trying to get 3.1 Million illegal immigrants permission to work here is rediculous! What about those who immigrated legaly? They just got screwed! He's all for the rich man, and screw the middle class and poor!

4. E-CON-O-MY! For god's sake, this is a good enough reason in and of itself. When he came into office, the stockmarket was sligthly faultering, sure. I'll belive that. When 9-11 happened, there was a lot of fear in the American population. Sure, I buy that. But when the DOW is at like 8000 and falling and he says the economy is doing fine, I've had my fill of bull. And there is also the fact that he still doesnt really have an economic plan... One member of his cabinit (I think) said that the reason the economy was so good during the Clinton administration was because (get this...) REGANOMICS! were that strong!!!! Come on... I know next to nothing about that time period, but I do know that reganomics were crap.

5. PATRIOT Act. Sure, lets burn the American Constitution to the ground so you have have your little wars Georgie boy! Last I knew, that was the supreme law of the land, and we had certain unalienable rights. Sure as crap, he goes and takes them away.

Also, I would like to say, these are in no particular order...

Please keep this thread to a list, and try to keep commentary to a minimum, unless it's against our president.

Appologies on the double post, but something in the election 2004 thread reminded me of something.

1. He doesn't give a damn about human rights and yet goes to war using human rights as one of the reasons for the war

2. He continues to use landmines, despite the fact that they only kill civillians

3. He continues to use cluster bombs, despite the high civilian damage they cause

4. He is sending US troops to Australia to train

Its not screwing anybody. If anything, it's helping the middle class.

Giving the illegal immigrants permission to work here, means that they'll have to get payed normal wages. If they get payed normal wages, that means that there won't be any reason that companies like WalMart will hire illegal immigrants instead of US residents. That means that more Americans will get jobs because the company has to pay the same ammount either way

I beg to differ, although your point is valid.

Usually, the immigrants are willing to work harder for less. Looking from a business POV, Would you rather hire a lazy american or a super hard working immigrant from where ever, leagal or not, who's willing to work harder?

such isn't the case for all americans, I know, but it's an example.

they give money to the rich people so that it will trickle down into the economy. If you give money to poor people they will just save it because they didnt have very much money

The trickle down effect doesn't really work though. Look at the 1930's.

1. Fighting to make the Patriot Act permanent.

Before 9-11, the government was unable and unwilling to use the powers it ALREADY possessed to protect us. So came the Patriot Act, authorizing additional powers to spy on U.S. citizens. When this legislation was first passed, it (wisely) had a sunset, or expiration date.

The Bush administration may have the noblest intentions(gag) , but do they not see the danger of future administrations?

Hillary Clinton, wielding the full powers of the Patriot Act would be very scary indeed.

2. 15 billion dollars for African AIDS.

That's OUR fucking money! There are a lot of AIDS patients in the U.S. that could be treated with that money.

It shouldn't cost that much money to teach people not to stick their dick in every man, woman, and infant's ass.

Tragic, is the idea that fucking a 6 month old baby will cure your Aids.

3. Immigrant "Guest-worker" program.

We have to deal with the "reality" of immigration, so the administration says.

Why don't we just deal with the "reality" of rape, and allow that with the right documents.

Murder is a problem also. So let's deal with the "reality" of that, and issue permits.

I have to disagree with Jeremy's land mine statement, though.

Landmines are an indispensable military tool.

Signing a treaty banning their production would be as foolish as signing that Kyoto protocol.

The two are similar in that major polluters (China, Russia, India, U.S.) and major mine producers(China, U.S., Russia) all refuse to sign them.

note:
Australia also declined to sign the Kyoto Protocols. I have to conclude that they want to poison the air and water.

Its so rare that I agree with anything Nathan says, that I thought I would chime in.

I agree that the Patriot Act is a very good reason to vote against Bush. I would amend the last statement to say that ANYBODY wielding the full powers of the Pat. Act is very scary. I would further amend that statement to say that anybody wielding even partial powers of the Patriot Act is very scary. Scratch that: the Patriot Act is a direct violation of key provisions of the constitution, which seeks to undermine the American way of life in the name of preserving it.

I know you meant this as a sarcastic jab at Jeremy, but I actually agree with it. Frankly, anybody who declined to sign and follow the Kyoto Protocols is out to make a profit off of the collective suffering of the world.

I know that `think of the children` isnt a popular rallying cry anymore, but Jesus, look at some of the things Bush is doing. Leave no child behind? More like: give all the money to rich people today, and then let the children pay for it later. Make money today, and let the kids live in a shitty environment tomorrow. Im not even going to get started, but honestly, this administration is way waaaaay shadier than even Nixon`s administration.

Clinton lied to the country over a blowjob.

I dont even know how many American soldiers have died in Iraq under false pretenses. I also think if you want to be accurate, Cheney deserves a lot more blame than Bush does, for shit like leaking the identity of a CIA agent, just because her husband told the truth legally to the nation that the administration lied about WMD.

Fuck it, I dont need to write a book. I just thought I`d comment it was cool that Nathan and I agreed on some shit finally.

I don't agree, but would like to point out that one of the reasons it takes so much is because the Catholic Church is spending a similar amount of money telling people they will go to HELL if they use condoms and that condoms don't prevent aids anyway. Completely off topic I know, but it's one of the reasons why I hate the Catholic church so much

I have to disagree with Jeremy's land mine statement, though.

It has been continually shown that landmines do not kill military targets. They slow moving force down by about one minute per mine but are easily detected. The only people to be killed by landmines are civillains, mainly children. But I guess you think a couple of hundred maimed and dead children is worth slowing the approaching army down for a couple of hours...

Yes you are right, the Australian government sucks. But incidently we are now facing the worst drought in history, some scientists don't even think it's a drought but a change in weather patterns induced by deforestation and global warming. I guess you reap what you sow.

continued...

4. Campaign finance reform

The politicians are to crooked to follow or enforce existing laws. So what's their brilliant solution?

-Limit everyones speech

McCain(fucker) writes the bill , Bush signs it into law, and the Court <gag> upholds most of it.

What if all the footbaggers put $5 each toward a newspaper
ad or commercial to promote a candidate or initiative?

If it's 60 days before an election, then that would be illegal.

I guess we still have freedom of speech, but only 83.3.% of the time.

Would I be completely wrong in saying Bush doesn't give two flying fucks about the country? I mean, no domestic policy other than spying on people and accusing them of being terrorists (via PATRIOT act., giving away money we need to actually fix the economy), a bad forign policy ("Bring it on," continuing the war in Iraq), and a puppet to the rich (tax cuts, "no child left behind" bullshit, and indirectly allowing halliburton the contract for Iraq.).

Come on... Even if you are right wing, you have to see that something is at least a little fucked up. But party loyalty is a major issue.. sorry to say.

He's been leading the country down, seriously. I swear, it won't be too long before he starts banning books... The Price of Loyalty, by (author goes here, not chineese dude) comes to mind.

Yeah, you're just ranting now.

The only book ban I know of, is a judge somewhere ruled a guy couldn't sell copies of his book because it said that the Income Tax is not really required by law and that you shouldn't pay it.
