I have to agree, I have supported Bush from the beginning, but alot of crap was said last night during the state of the union advertisement, I mean speech that I don't support.
Not saying I'm switching parties, because party loyalty is important, just not all that sure about where Bush is intending to go next.
Granted, I know what you mean. He's really a bandwagon mother fucker. Will this get me their votes? Lets go this way! Wait, these people don't like it? Ok, I'll compromise to get their votes. In the end, it's not going to matter, because I'm going to screw everyone! That's what I see in him.
And Ken speaks the truth about funding... We have none, and we are going to end up becoming a third world country if we keep the debt raising as it is. That was one of the biggest problems with the tax cuts: Didn't provide the country with a way to pay the debt off.
I'm not much for having to spend extra money, but at the same time, I don't mind helping my country out. If I know my money is going to be spent in improving the country, I don't feel as bad about using all my money for buying some thing I want.
I would like to point out something with the economy. The Dow is back up in the 10K range... On paper, that's great! Economy is going back up! But what about the people who are unemploed? They still are out of money. That's creating a larger rift between the upper and lower classes, and will eventually wipe out the middle class. I suppose as long as there is a lot of money in the economy, it's assumed that everything is all hunky dory.
The way I see that, The poor hold on to what money, rather than invest it in the stock market or what not. They need their security. Middle class doesn't notice anything, they go on as they are, maybe slight modifications to their life style. The rich have enough money, so they can boost the stock market and not worry if they bust in it. It's not really helping the economy. It's one sided stimulation, never mind the sexual inuendo I just accidently created.... But you get the idea, right?
Ok.. I doubt much of it makes sense, but it's bed time. I'm glad this discussion hasn't turned (violently) hostile...
