Break in Tips (was: doctor)

washing doesn't hurt the bag at all, minor wear over a long period of time.Most people when they wash their bag tend to pull on it or ringing it out with too much stress on the twist. When the bag is wet, these actions, can destroy a bag overnight. Cold water and mild bar hand soap and paper towels to dry and your good to go. One extra tip, I weigh my bags at 30 grams when sold. After the stitching breaks in and the bags looks bigger and softer, I take two grams out for the 28 gram shred weight. I ask Kenny Shults 12 years ago what weight he like. He said 27 1/2 grams. 28 works for my bags, and by the way, they were designed for the 28 gram shred weight. Hope this helps

No, dirt is the #1 thing for fabric rot. Dirt is pretty much really fine sand. Ever hear of sandblasting something? Well thats almost what leaving dirt on your bag does. It wears it alway slowly, but alot faster than the material would if you wash it once a week

well u people are taking about 5 times a week, thats just rotting it, and dirt does not "rot" it makes stuff wear easier.

where the hell do u people hack, outside on a riany day? if u hack indoors or on pavement, u shouldent have to worry about your hack getting dirty.

First off, I don't hack, i freestyle

Secondly, I play in a carpeted basement. But there is dirt everywhere. So of course a bag gets dirty. And look at your T-shirt. You use soap on that, and it takes months to get holes in it. And thats not just from soap. The material in a footbag is about 5 times as strong as a T-Shirts material. Think about that

but once sand gets moist, it takes a while to completely dry even tho matter how try u get the OUTSIDE, the sand inside a hack is enclosed with not much ventilation, therefore = rotting.

Richard, and I believe everyone else, is talking about 32 panel facile bags filled with pellets/beads, not crush panne sandbags like yours. Facile footbags require proper care so they break-in properly and last long so you get your 30 dollars worth.

Sand still wouldnt rot. Sand footbags are actually better to pay with when they are a little damp IMO

dude i have a sandman and i play every day before swim practice to help warm up my legs...it has gone in teh pool in excess of 10 times cuase of my friends....with in 10 minutes of kicking it is dried out fine and hasnt YET to rot....also arguing over the internet is like the special olympics..no matter who wins they are still retarded...so just stop trying to argue and and shut up

washing your bag and then drying gently with paper towels and rolling it in ur hands while you blow on it is good for it. not only does it do a great amount of break-in but it keeps it clean which makes it better to play with and last longer. the dirt in the meterial gathers together in the small holes and begins to stretch it out which causes wear and tear. WrathOfGod: u r new in the sport and if a man with 13+ years of stitching experience says to wash bags and the rest of the community backs him up u have no arguement.

Yo wrath of god, washing a 32 panel pellet filled footbag is the best way to take care of it. Washing removes the sweat, dirt, sand, and glass from the material, there by increasing the life and texture of the bag. Sand bags are a different story. I would not wash under any circumstances. For that price, I would just replace it. After 14 years of stitching 32s my research has validated my practice and reinforces my products. As for the rest of you guys, rock on and keep shredding. I put mine in a plastic jar with some special beads, plus a little soap solution I make in the lab.
Shake vigorously. I just keep dumping off the water, refill and shaking untill the water is clear.
II probably wash mine after every session or so. Clean bags are the best. Since I don't ever touch the fabric, I don't get distorted panels and uneven break-in.
