what i was saying before was that people who are too young to vote and people who live in canada and austrailia are posting here and they cant vote. I can see why they still have strong opinions though because our president effects them too. I am glad to see people living in different countries are pissed at bush. it just shows even more how badly we need to get him out.
Yeah it is pretty scary huh? Never thought about it like that. So you are saying that because Bush side-stepped the UN, that leaves the door open for other countries to do the same? That could cause a break down of the whole UN system.True enough... I can't argue against that... And we did give him chances... But we also could have set an example there. We practically said fuck off to them. What makes other countries not do that if they want to wage war? That's a scary thing man.
But as history has shown, we tend to forget things relatively quickly, so I wonder if the UN will be looked at in this way, in say 2 years from now.
Go out and shred already.

we "AMERICANS" forget quickly . . . look at the middle east or Palestine / Israel to see how well they recall. It is our forgetfulness that lets us say crap like they hate us for our freedom...and actualy believe the statement to true.FlexThis wrote:

Regadless, Bush and crew are doing everything in their power to ensure that they can no longer hate us for our freedoms . . . and that is why I won't vote for bush *on topic*

What the candidates really wanted to say in Iowa:
Drop dead, you white schmucks. You are fly-over country. You're 3 electorial votes are not even worth our time.
How dare you make us come out and associate with your shit-farmers.
California, Texas, Florida, and New York are all that matter. Everyone else can drop dead.

Ah, now that you've backed it up, I'm not pissed (as far as this thread goes) at you. I agree that we need to put more strength in the voting system. But in order to do that, we need to get intrest in the voting system by havign people vote.oZonE-juNkie, edited for a typo. :) wrote:Again, I agree. Except when a vote is meaningless in a given election. To simply vote in order to have the right to complain is silly - that's not the reason for voting. We need to put strength back into the voting system itself. It's broken.MegaFighter_X wrote:So we can more or less shape this republic we have. If you don't vote, don't bitch, simple as that.Question: why vote at all? Popular vote means nothing against electoral vote, no?
That's true as well. But also, it's said history repeats itself. Even if it's forgotten, it's very possible others will sidestep the UN as well.FlexThis wrote:Yeah it is pretty scary huh? I don't quite understand why you aren't voting for him. It seems that the reason you gave was supportive of him. If you could, try to elaborate a bit more, please?Tsiangkun wrote:Regadless, Bush and crew are doing everything in their power to ensure that they can no longer hate us for our freedoms . . . and that is why I won't vote for bush *on topic*
I think it's more of a time for the rest of the country to see what they are. It's their first impressions on the voters, so to speak. The quiz I can't really answer in the least. But if I can, I'll try to later.HighDemonslayer wrote:What the candidates really wanted to say in Iowa:

They are removing the very freedoms that make the terrorist hate us . . . not addressing the real issue of why groups dislike the US.MegaFighter_X wrote:I don't quite understand why you aren't voting for him. Hehe, well, often I tend to ask questions in order to get people's opinions. Just because I ask a question doesn't mean that I'm aligning myself completely with the concepts behind the question. No, I'm not trolling either, I was interested in what people would say. It seems hard to ask questions without people jumping to the conclusion that you're attacking them or their beliefs.MegaFighter_X wrote:Ah, now that you've backed it up, I'm not pissed (as far as this thread goes) at you. I've found that often people have a tendancy to "kill the messenger", as they say. If someone says that voting is worthless, people tend to ignore the facts and get defensive. The truth is, I feel the same way - it bothers me that my vote doesn't mean anything - but I won't hold it against someone who tells me this fact.
Glad you're not pissed at me (in this thread)

Really put things in perspective for me. I won't be supporting Bush in 2004.
Still a republican, just not Bush's republican.

1. Education, Medicaid, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) and the criminal justice system were cut.
2. ARG THIS IS SO HARD... Senator Jim Jeffords with the Bill Pushed by Baby Bush in 2002... Arg. I'm not sure if it was the most recent one though.
"You can’t make everybody happy on a bill, but apparently you can make everybody mad"
Rep. Will Bond.

Canadians and Australians are barred by law from voting in the U.S. as far as I know,
BUT that doesn't stop other non-eligible people from voting.
I think they SHOULD try to vote somehow (absentee, or something), and write back here, telling us how easy it was.
You could easily vote in my state.

People make it out to be harder than what it really is. Register, go where they tell you, fill the ballot out...
I don't mind Canadains or Austrailians throwing their two cents in, just as long as it's constructive.
damnit.. I think I had something to say.. but I got side tracked.. if I remember, I'll edit or post again.

I personally thought that when Sam made these threads he was then going to create a poll and people on the forum would just vote... I was feeling pretty crazy back then so maybe I was wrong.
Anyway I have one major reason why I would not vote for Bush and everything else is just extra.
1. He took his country to War (and not just war, but a pre emptive war)
I could never vote for a person who took a country to war. I would rather die myself than kill someone else.

Of course I'd try to stop them. You can stop someone from doing something without trying to kill them. I imagine I could kill someone who was attacking me - but I wouldn't be trying to kill them - just stopping them from attacking me. I'm sure I would find it very hard to live with myself for a while. I would never purposefully attempt to kill someone.

Well said, Jeremy...
Senator Kerry said the reason he backed the war is because he though bush would follow a process: get a collation, go though the UN, and use war as a last result.
Bush tried (not really that hard) to get a coillation, he went though the UN (or should I say he jumped over them), and went to war as a preemtive measure.. my ass...
He's lied to us all. We went for WMD's.... Or.. was it because of Saddam... Wait... I think it was for the liberation of the iraqi people.
How many more countries is he going to get away with this in? Syria next?

4. The "Farm" Bill
This was one monster handout. I think Scottie Pippen (NBA), received subsidies because he owned land that technically was a farm.
Both sides are guilty on this one, but then Bush didn't have to sign it.
5. Prescription drug benefit in medicare.
Great, now when Bill Gates, Kenneth Lay, and Rush Limbaugh all turn 65,
WE will have to pay for their prescription drugs.
