i think in-out has less control. it feels like a hip movement while out-in is at the knee. For example legover and pickup, mirage and illusion. Legover is much easier to do at the end of a move becuase with pickup you have to move your whole leg over. maybe its just me

Matt: a lot of freestylers thgink like you do... This is the whole idea/debate/talk behing half dexes and the x-dex solution. Some dexes are just really too easy because they are half dexes. Suches dexes are:
op legover (out), stepping (in) or butterfly (out).
This is why ripwalk is easy compared to blury whirl (for most people anyway).

smear is easier than fairy op illusion for a lot of people to. Then if you start mixing the dexes it starts getting pretty mixed up:
pixie (in) butterfly (out) is (imo) A LOT easier than atomic (out) whirl (in)
It just depends on everyone's style..

I believe the difficulty of a move comes down to three main factors: first, personal preferance and practice; second, measurable distance of the dex being performed; and third, changes of momentum from one piece of the move to another. If you had a really easy time with out-in dexes, fairy illusion may be easier than pixie legover, even though the dexs in the fairy illusion travel further and require move change of momentum than does pixie legover. All things being equal though, the pure distance of the dex (the distance a pixie travels is shorter than that a fairy travels, i think) and the change in momentum (pixie legover can use momentum from the first dex to carry you through the second, where this is not possible in fairy illusion or blurry same side butterfly) have a lot to do with the actual overall difficulty of the move being attempted.
