Isn't "Punk" just another one of those titles that people who want to be different name themselves or their music so that they stand out from the crowd? Sorta like Goth, or Panda Licker

Not really, I'm wondering why you would ever think that punk was a term used by people who want to "be different" and make their music standout.

And if you were joking about the entire thing: ha ha ha :?

Because it is. All labeling of music is crap (except maybe rap because its barely music, but thats just my opinion. Dont need rob locking anything). It's all just music. Theres no difference in my Dead Kennedys CD than there is in my Beatles CD.

Now, if I wanted, I could say I listen to classic/psycadelic rock, and then I'd be cool. Or i could say that I'm a Punker and then I'd be cool too.

But just listening to music? Blah, thats boring

labels are gay as hell...but what would our society be without them...no one would be able to tell the difference between the rich capitalist fat cat suits and the lowly poor street kids...o well....i guess thats democracy for ya!

Panda, that is the most moronic thing I've ever heard in my entire life!

All labling of music is crap eh?

Well I guess all music is crap. Tell me one good thing to back that up. All of the music that is part of a genre are usually (or have similarities) alike in alot of different ways.

Your missing my point. Its not that I think the actual labeling of 'music' is bad , but rather the fact that people will actually go around calling themselves Punkers or Goths because it makes them feel cool. And the labeling of bands just adds to that. Yeah, there are some really different types of music, (i.e. Country, Rock, Rap, Classical, Techno), but saying "I listen to Punk music" is cutting yourself short because there's a lot of great music out there. So if everything was just called Rock, then it would be a lot easier for people to be exposed to new kinds of music and not just stay in one catagory.

I think I just sorta talked about 15 topics at once, and if it didn't make sense then I'm sorry

Seriously bro, do you have to argue with every post I make?

I agree with panda in a way when he said "isnt punkers a term to be different like goths"... because i classify "punkers" like that.

I think from what i take of what panda is saying is that Since music is practically the same then why do we need labels for music? So really your just agreeing with him. I dont know tho. thats just what i take form the whole conversation
