Do you play seriously?

Post by Laroche »

I remember talking with Josh Behnam at CP04 about the way we shred, and how intensely that the philly footworks shred, and how montrealers joke around a goof around while shredding.

I was just curious as to what other people do, and, more importantly, how it they it affects their sessions.

I only play intensely when I'm by myself or with Hood or Bob. I like to joke around and have fun at tournies though.

I play better if I'm serious about it, but it's more fun if I'm not.

I'm serious about the sport and about learning new moves, but I often laugh whenever I mess up, it helps me keep things in perspective. It also makes me want to play more because I think it is better whenever you don't take it to seriously.

Im in the same boat as Jim. When i shred bymyself im dead serious. But when i shred with Chris me and him joke around quite abit but we are serious when we are trying to learn new tricks or are in a run. Its weird.

i just play relaxed.i find when im relaxed having a fun time i hit stuff easier and do better.when i try to play serious it just doesnt work for me but on rare occasions.im laid back so its hard to get REALLY serious but sometimes i do.but with just regular shred im mellowed out hahaha

Well I always thought we play pretty serious, but then Matt Baker came and kicked with us, and was like: "Dude, in the US everybody are so serious, I kept on getting in trouble just for talking in a circle" So I guess I'd have to say that we aren't that serious.

Note: Matt spent most of his time in the US around Standford I think and kicked with Sunil a few times, so maybe it's just sunil...

i'm very serious when i play alone, you can tell from my facial expressions when i drop in a video, but when i play with others i'm more relaxed. since i play alone 90% of the time, i put down serious.

Hacky sac is all about having fun  . Besides, it's absolutely impossible to be serious in a circle with Jon Nagela in it. The things that guy says...

I don't really see how you can hate talking in a circle ....

It's supposed to be a social sport isn't it? If you have like a 3 hour session, do you just expect people to be mutes the whole time?

As for me, I'm the same as a lot of people, I am serious and have fun. Serious when I'm really working hard trying to hit something, usually more fun when I'm in a circle.

Yeah... you guys just should never kick in a circle with Chris Holden if you like to be serious. Just... yeah.
