congolian situation

Post by dragonhack »

man i dont know whats wrong with the world today...in the congo right now theirs a war being fought and theirs no media coverage on it at all...its also been going on since 1997 the first ive heard of it was about a month ago and it was the most horrifing thing ive ever heard of....children from the ages of 8 to 18 are being recruited by various militias to fight on the front lines for them...the younger the children the closer to the fighting they get(because they want their older stronger smarter and more capable fighters to go in after the younger ones get slaughtered)this isnt the worst part either, some of these militias are using a religion of sorts to command their troops.they tell these children that if they drink a "magical water" itll make them fly, be bullet proof, and feel no pain. i think everyone should educate them selves about these atrocities that are going on ouit there and see if its at all possible to help them in any way possible...even if just by spreading the word...well..i got my 5 cents in here hopefully this will help in some sort of way..any opinions you have on this can be posted here.here is a link to one of the articles i read just recently on this subject.

i think you should be able to fight once you truly understand what you are fighting for, which seems to be 16+ in most areas, but 8 years old is f*cking cruel B.S.

Whoever voted "yes", if I ever meet you I'm going to teach you a thing or two.

Yes this is horrible, it's not fair to the children at all. I could go on forever about this but I recently realized that most of the time that I write big posts it's a waste of time and has no real benefit.

i put yes, but i'll explain why.

i do not think children should be drafted or recruited for a war! i don't think children should have to deal with war at all. children should only have to worry about being children, learning, playing and laughing.
during world war 2, my great great uncle, who was 10 at the time he started fighting, was a french resistance fighter. he was helping downed allied fighter pilots, and dropping underground newspapers, etc. no, he wasn't fighting in the front lines, but he was fighting in the war. he helped. so in my opinion, yes, if they offer to help, but don't send them to the front. when it comes down to you, or them, you always want it to be them...
