What other things are you talking about?
People protest the war so much for a variety of reasons. I protested against it because I don't believe in violent solutions and I knew that there would be a massive loss of life and pain caused by the war - I'm not concerned with innocence because I don't think there is ever a valid reason to kill someone against their wishes. The fact that this was a pre emptive, thought out (or at least I hope some thought went into the decsision) action of violence made it, in my opinion, something that I could not stand by and do nothing. I guess ultimatly I protested for my own well being - I didn't think that the protests would stop the war, but wanted to feel like I did something.

10. Lending credibility to climate change.

He shouldn't lend acceptance to the "Global Warming" myth. It's just a scam to pick wealthy nation's pockets. There is plenty conflicting science ,but people believe it like religious extremists...... "It MUST be true!"

11. Bending over for Vincente Fox (Mexico).

I cannot understand why Bush continues to pander to this turd-world leader. Time and time again, Bush gives and gives and gives, but Fox NEVER gives anything back. (except illegals)

Just wondering Nathan, what's your explenation for the reason why the polar ice caps are melting? And why was last decade the hottest decade on record? and why was last year the hottest year in Australia on Record? And why is Australia currently suffering the worst drought on record?

Matt, I think the reason why people don't have massive protests about legal alcohol and tobacco is because those things are generally consumed of somebodies free will. The people of Iraq (and the people of the US, UK, Australia and Poland for that matter) did not get to choose if the war would take place or not. I also think that most of the protestors would believe that people should have a right to put whatever they want into their bodies so long as they are not harming anybody else - so if there were anti tobacco and alcohol protests, they would draw a much different crowd of people who probably either have stories to prove how biased their opinion is on the matter or are very keen on controlling everything in society.

I want to re-iterate my climate position.
I am not saying that some areas are not experiencing higher temperatures.

Recorded tempertatures have not been recorded through ALL time.

Human history is a just a tiny slice of climactic history.

Insanely high temps. have been recorded in the past, before SUV's and coal-power plants existed.

I'm just saying there is no consensus. People used to be afraid that we will experience global cooling. Now global warming is the fear.

Many nations threw the Kyoto protocols in the trash because their was no solid evidence to commit economic suicide for their nations.

The climate goes through cycles of changes, Although I forget if we are on the tail-end, or the beginning of what would be another ice-age cycle.

NOTE:

Tobacco protests would be pointless. I would suggest that EVERY state in our union would go broke without cigarette taxes to prop up their out of control spending. Politicians are addicted to the revenues like a drug.

Alcohol will probably follow suit and get huge tax increases. Although this would just increase smuggling and counterfeiting. (cigarette counterfeiting is BIG business).

That's good, because virtually every country in the world is experiencing weather conditions that vary from the average considerably.
Recorded tempertatures have not been recorded through ALL time.
No but most conventional scientists can make fairly accurate estimations of the temperature going much further into the past then recorded temperatures. For example - using ice drilled from antartica they can say that the current rise in temperature is the fastest rise in temperatures in that area that has ever occured since the formation of the ice shelf.
Insanely high temps. have been recorded in the past, before SUV's and coal-power plants existed.
Yes, but we are not talking about once off high temperatures, we are talking about whole decades being unusually hot.
Many nations threw the Kyoto protocols in the trash because their was no solid evidence to commit economic suicide for their nations.
Which Nations? The major countries I heard about who were refusing to ratify the protocol did not give that reason - Australia said that we couldn't meet the targets because we have more industries that produce greenhouse gasses then any other country (proportionally). George Bush said that he didn't think the impact on the US's economy would be as bad if global warming occured than if they reduced their greenhouse gasses.
The climate goes through cycles of changes, Although I forget if we are on the tail-end, or the beginning of what would be another ice-age cycle.
That's true - however the changes through the cycle occur over thousands of years - not a few decades.

Also regarding you comments about Mexico - since signing the NAFTA agreement poverty in Mexico has more than doubled and life expectancies have fallen dramatically.

OFF TOPIC:

That's because all the wealthy healthy Mexicans moved to San Diego to reap the benefits of a better life leaving the poor and down trodden to rot in Mexico.

When I said:

----------------------

-----------------------

.....I was implying that was the reason , the only nation I know of that actually SAID something like that was Russia. And they didn't say that there was no evidence. They just said that it would kill their economy, so they weren't going to sign.

I don't remember saying anything about NAFTA specifically (voted for by John Kerry) .

So you made an asumption about the national policies of the largest countries in the world based on no actual evidence - just that's the reason you personally wouldn't have signed the treaty and so you presumed that that's why the leaders of other countries didn't sign it either. I'm glad we have that sorted out.

What the US is getting out of Mexico is the abilty to exploit the country - taking the resources, using cheap labour and selling the mexicans American products at prices cheaper than what the local distributors can afford to offer. - This is all because of NAFTA.

Glad to see you're trying to point score with your comment about John Kerry. I'm sure the republicans wouldn't have signed any free trade agreements with another country because they would be worried about the economic impact the agreement would have on the poor people of the other country...

Sure there was evidence. Russia had economy penalties quoted as their reason. They just say things more diplomatically than I.
Sweet sounding words is what placates the international community into accepting your dumping and burning.

The U.S. doesn't gain from so called exploiting Mexico. Companies gain from it, but the taxpayers and the states get screwed with the tab

And what resources are you talking about? It sure can't be the oil cuz the price is way to fucking high. I don't want any more salmonella onions or hepatitis strawberries. What ever happened to the worlds safest food supply? Bah

I'm only 18 and have a poor knowledge of current politics and what bush is up to...however!

I don't approve of Bush sending us away to war and such for reasons that were "thought" of...for instance, though saddam was a dangerous man, we still had no proof of biological weapons. Saddam wasn't hurting us in anyway (i don't think) so why the heck did we get involved?

I can understand Bin Laden and that crisis, but was it necessary to bomb the country? Same goes with Iraq...was it really necessary to bomb all the innocent people? Now we have to pay more money in order for "us" to repay for "our" damage for a country that isn't "ours"!

I'm sure "bush is a warmonger" was brought up in the beginning of the thread, but though i have such a poor knowledge of current politics, i have watched enough news and kept my ears open to realize that I just think Bush is ruining us, not helping us! I would never vote for Bush, EVER!

Though, i must say he did handle september 11th in a very good way, but isn't that any presidents job? If any other president had been in that situation, they too would have responded and acted the same way. Bush isn't special for that reason. Just my though.

Shouldn't Mexican oil products cost less than middle east oil?

The consumer gets screwed at the pump either way.

We would except we are psychologically conditioned to want bigger and better things with no regard for anyone else, pretty much from birth (see TV). Also the level of education is dropping (see government spending) .The companies are taking over (see Walmart).

Without a doubt that's true. We are tricked into thinking that we can make it big here, and when we do, we have to have everything supersized. It's a sad truth.

With educationm, we said everyone should be able to get into college. However our standards used to be more difficult. So it was either push the kids harder or dumb down the curriculum. Guess what happnened? That causes more problems when people get into college. They may not be ready for their curriculum because of other lazyness...

But for those who don't go to college there is always going to work for some company where you will never be anything anyways. That is, if they don't ship your job overseas... So that road leads to the opposite of the american dream. Even if you do get a college education, there is a chance that you won't get anywhere futher in life. That's also a sad reality.

America isn't quite the "land of the great" it used to be. There aren't as many opportunities, simply said. Hopefully, there will be some president in office before long that sees this, and can regulate us into something more like britan or something like that. We are too exorbant... We need to be more conservitive with our materials, but think of better ways to use them.

Yup, dumb da-dumb dumb dumb......

Don't attribute it all to laziness. I can't imagine how many students are graduated high school sorely lacking even the most basic skills.
$10,000 per year-per-student in some cases, and they can't even teach them to read and write.

This is bad, pointing to Britain's Big Brother as a model for us.

Shall we install 10 million video cameras , to cover every square inch of the nation,(with no resulting crime drop) like the Brits?

Shall we register and confiscate all firearms, and ban anything that can be used as a weapon(and have our crime explode like theirs)?

Like them, we could also outlaw self-defense. Holding a home invader at bay with a TOY gun until the police arrive, will land you more jail time than the robber himself.

Then he can come visit you in jail and tell you what he's going to do to your wife while you're locked up.

I don't want to follow that model.
