I'd say sex. I was going to say music but then I realized that non-instrumental music can be in many many many different languages. So if you are listening to a song with a different language than your own, it won't mean as much since you don't know the true intensions of the composer and writer.

some guy created a language that he wanted to be the universal language. his plan was for everyone in the world to learn and use the laguage he made---it didnt work out.

I voted for love (sex), however, I think that grouping those two things together is a huge mistake. they are VERY different. However, both universal languages. But still, seemed a little naive to me. I am just a hopeless romantic though, but music is really international too. no, I would like to modify that. All ART is universal. Music, fine arts, dance, etc... Yes. Art.

I'm going with Zach on this one. I can think of a few bands that I listen to that arent in English but in particular a band called sigur ros. They speak there own language (hopelantic) so no one knows what there saying but its some of the best music I've listened to and in a strange way it makes sense!

I voted music. I think love is obviously a universal language too, but it only expresses a small number of emotions. Music can be used to express every emotion, and even if it was written in a different language, you can still understand the emotion.

yea i would say math too, and it's from pi, a very very messed up movie =P
after math i would have to say love i guess.
and on the topic of esperanto, it was a inocent enough idea i guess and seems like a good one at first glance. everybody can understand eachother etc etc. but have you ever read books like 1984 with "newspeak"(sp?) where language is used as a form of control. esperanto was a bit too simple it cut down on vocabulary and stuff like that, which is a bad thing. i personally think the more words the better, the more acurately we can describe etc. andyway enough rambling for now

It was called Esperanto. Mix between spanish, english and something else. A lot of science fiction writers were really excited about and started encorporateing it in their books but it never really took off. Now only small groups of people get together to speak. Its as useful as learning Klingon.
