Post by Gabe »

I was wondering whats the easiest set for everyone. I'm especially curious to know whats the easiest set for the better footbagers in here who can do all the sets pretty well.

definatly pixie is easiest. I think I'd rate my sets from easiest to hardest like this:

pixie
stepping
fairy
atomic
nuclear
shooting
sailing
quantum

any set being symposium I can't do.

I was thinking... I voted pixie but.. when you say easiest do you mean easiest to do and do moves off of or easiest to do by itself? And also.. my favorite is prolly a zoid set just cuz it's bizarre and never used. Not EASY easy but it's.. easy if it's just a serve to someone or something.

I like Atomic, Pixie, Quantum, Stepping, Nuclear, Wonton (symp quantum). Of these I find Atomic the easiest because it's something I've skooled a LOT.

Yeah many people can do stepping as good as a clipper (ahem vasik)

It would be cool to do quantum tho cause not many people can do quantum well.

Not that I can even get near to stepping yet, but I'd probably guess it's something to do with the way you're landing or takeoff with your supporting leg, landing too heavy or slightly wrongly(that a word?) ...

Actually just had a thought, it may be the type of surface you kicking on 'cos I've noticed in my short freestyle time that my shins sometimes get sore while on certain surfaces. But that's probably my lack of freestyle, or the fact that the soles on my shoes suck ...

This is probably redundant, but make sure your landing on the balls of your feet ... (that's like telling the pope there's a god, doh :p )

Yeah, stepping does hurt your shins even although it's not the worst move there for them. I think the motion is reasonably similar to running although with running the force is being exerted backwards while with stepping the force is being exerted upwards (which is better, I don't know). Besides what's already been said about treating shin splints, I doubt there's much that can be done in terms of changing the technique of it.

Hmm... actually, I guess there's one thing you can do about it. Try not to do the sets plyometrically (where you 'jump' into the clipper) because it increases the amount of force that your leg has to cope with. Stepping (not the set) into the clipper is probably better for you although it makes it slightly harder to do stepping sets out of I think.

I wish I could pixie or quantum... :(

Ah... a chance to redeem my credibility as a writer, after the whole ambiguous/ambidextrous incident.

The correct wording would simply be slightly wrong. This is because you already have already put the adverb on the participle landing by using the word slightly to modify the adjective wrong.

Besides this, "wrongly" is not a word. You could get away with saying "slightly incorrectly" or "slightly erroneously," but that's pretty crappy writing because the redundance makes the your readers cringe.

Thanks for asking!
