Not even close. 4 of them are hardcore conservative, Sandra Day O`Connor is conservative, but sometimes votes with the liberal justices, and the rest are moderate to liberal. There are no radical liberals sitting on the court, but Scalia and Thomas are at the far far end of the right spectrum. O`Connor has become the deciding voter in several cases in the last couple decades, but she is definitely a conservative as well.

Jeremy, Democrat and Republican are just as broad as Socialist. :P It's all B.S. anyway, everyone has some ideas that don't conform. I'm a "socialist", but I still believe globalization has its merits here and there. [note: here and there, not everywhere]

I differentiate (and others) between the general term socialism and the more specific state socialism.

State socialism is what most people would consider socialism -- government control of resources, etc. However, this definition for socialism was not the first one, and I feel that it does not really encompass and capture what all who call themselves socialists are about.

I believe a better definition of socialism would go something along the lines of a ecnomic system based along social lines. It seeks benefit for everyone is society as opposed to seeking profit for a select few. A lot of this is based on cooperation amongst people as well as collective ownership of the means for production and distribution of goods. It came about as a reaction against capitalism. I believe this was the first understanding of socialism, which as a term became common in the 1820s.

Thus, I believe all anarchists would consider themselves socialists.

Yeah look - I had toooooooooo many problems with the poll to change it. If there isn't an option you like - vote others. If Socialist/anarchist is too broad it should get lots of votes... I voted green but I also consider myself an anarchist and I in considering myself an anarchist I consider that a branch of socialism. I think of it as anti authoritarian socialism in a nutshell.

well when i voted socialist i didnt exactly have anything anarchist in mind. i think socialism should have had its own ballot. but if socialism (and i was thinking state socialism but i wasnt aware of the official title) was to share any ballot, i think it should be shared with communism. similar interests and goals...better match.
*my opinion*

yes infoshop is daily bread...as well as adbusters and the militant....i just started reading a little from the noosepaper but i havent found anything terribly interesting i cant find elsewhere.
