Awful title, but:

Which trick would win in A best Trick/Sick Trick format?

Montage vs. Alpine toe blur
My name: Jeremy Mirken, AKA Chocolatey Shatner, AKA jerk enemy rim.

Just to help myself and others out, here is how the moves break down:

Montage(Spinning Ducking Paradox Symposium Whirl)
Clip>Back Spin(BOD)>Duck(BOD)>No Plant While Op In(DEX)(PDX)(BOD)>Op Clip(XBD)(DEL)

Alpine Toe Blur (Confusion... I went searching for a concrete definition of alpine and couldn't find it... someone help?)

I know I love montage... but I don't know what Alpine Toe Blur is!

Alpine Toe Blur, it's a duck between two dex's, montage is a single dex, and alpine toe blur is crazy unique! I've never even seen Alpine Toe Blue, and I've seen people hit montage first try. Not to take anything away from montage, it's a very difficult move.

I may be biased as I was trying to duck my quantums today. :þ

What are the jobs for Alpine Toe Blur? Sorry... I'm having a hard time picturing this. Also, unique thread name :) haha.

alpine toe blur
toe>op in>duck>op in>op toe

It really depends on what the moves look like in my opinion.

If someone hits a really crisp montage with the bag 3 centimeters away from the back of the neck and the whirl dex along the calf, while the alpine toe blur is very hunched over and the toe stall at the end is a scoop off the ground kind of thing with the footbag setting forward and the player diving to catch it - I would go with Montage. However if both look pretty good - I would go for alpine toe blur for sure.

Thanks for the jobs man. I still don't understand alpine, even after reading another thread about it... it seems like a loose term to me. But anyways, with those two moves I'd say montage. Although... ATB would be extremely styley.

IMO it depends on what kind of tricks you like and can hit. Montage is not too hard for me (I can almost do it), but I would never ever get close to alpine toe blur.
I vote for alpine toe blur becasue it seems to be extremely hard for me.

hmm thats a tough one, in terms of WOW factor for anybody, Montage would probably win. but for the discerning freestyler, Alpine Toe Blur is fuck-off hard and unique as. so how do i chose?

Alpine Toe blur would prob win in my book i guess... as far as a Sick 1

u should keep this thread going with a poll at the top, and let voting continue for say 3 days to decide a victor, then edit the poll with a new trick stand-off

EDIT: this topic is a good idea, esp for ppl judging Sick 1 at competitions and stuff, cos it can be hard. At a comp in Australia last year, Helical (frigid osis set sailing)butterfly beat Cataclysm (Atomic Gyro DLO) for Sick 1, which the majority agreed with, but it just showed that massive or high add moves dont always win.
I think there is an air of perhaps 'boredom' at recent sick 3s, or so i get the impression on the forums. like with certain ppl winning with the same combos at every event. Maybe there needs to be a distinct definition for the word 'Sick'.

stefan siegert from germany also hits alpine toe blur in his section in the footjam03 vid... he also hits alpine toe ripwalk...

i think it really depends on the form, exactly how jeremy stated it....

I disagree flex.

I consider spinning ducking to be easier than quantum ducking.
I consider a one dex trick to be easier than a two dex trick involving XDEX.

I personally think alpine toe blur is harder than montage.

im a toe person, and i am alot closer to montage than i will ever be to quantum ducking mirage. montage is just an easy move. even for people who don't have the natural clippers.

PSh, maybe to you. HAHA

I'd think alpine toe blur to be better in unique'ism and difficulty than montage would. Not saying montage is easy, but alpine toe blur isn't seen very much and its much harder overall (at least thats what i'm thinking...i haven't tried alpine toe blur)

And to further explain alpine: Alpine means a duck inbetween two dexterities. Pixie ducking mirage is alpine smear. Pixie ducking butterfly is alpine dimwalk (pheonix). Stepping ducking op butterfly (alpine ripwalk, ripped warrior). Do you see?

Alpine toe blur is my vote!

agreed, i've only ever seen 2 people duck quantum... i've seen lots of spinning ducking stuff. alpine toe blur gets my vote too.

Montage rake. Because i don't see it at all (vasek i've seen it once). And its just a monster monster monster trick.

This time, i give montage rake my vote.

I think uniqueness should be focused on more in judging, because for one it takes some creativity, but I think more importantly, if a trick is not often hit it is likely to be because it is particularly hard. Obviously that's not a golden rule that is always true (it could just be that the move is lame for instance), but I think there's a strong correlation there.

I would give it to alpine toe blur, but only just. If a rake was added to the montage it would take it.

Also, I can't agree more about the form of both moves.

I think Montage Rake is an ugly move.

Alpine Toe Blur gets my vote.
