some of my favorites
UK Subs, Bad Brains, Operation Ivy, Rancid, Ramones, MDC, The Varukers, and most other bands that are relevant to these. It's all about that oldschool sound, ya know? Loud and fast.

Operation Ivy is the best ska band ever. The Specials come close but do not eclipse the awesomness that is Operation Ivy. The first few Rancid albums were great but there new one is just too commercial. Anyone here like AFI I'd have to say that they are my favorite band and have been for a long time. I myself like there later albums very much.

woohoo uk subs and bad brains
ive heard a bit from varukers and mdc but ive never spent the time or money to really appreciate them.
ive never been much of a fan of the casualties. i dont know what it is...just never seemed to like em very much. omg and if they have the word punk in every song...no wonder ive noticed all the afi, blink, gc mainstreamers always mentioning the casualties.
anyone ever heard the song 'old friendships' by op ivy? it aint ska (or whatever/however you would classify op ivys sound)...the song sounds like a garagey demo or a early attempt at rancids style of punk.

Hey Lonnie, Yeah I have heard that OPIV song. They have several badass songs that were not on "Hectic" or "Energy". And Yeah, those songs all have that grainy, garage demo sound. I love it. They are my favorite band. Have you heard the songs "Hangin Out" or "Uncertain"? Those fuckin' rule. I noticed you are from Houston, I am from SA. Perhaps I'll meet you at the Space City Jam.

I think you should chill man. It's pretty offensive bashing on someones tastes. trust me, i know exactly where you're coming from, but maybe you should clue him in on some respectable punk bands and tell him why you think blink 182, Sum 41, etc are trash, instead of shunning him from the punk band thread. shit..SpaceMonkey wrote:That makes me sick... .my all time 4 favourite punk bands are blink 182, rufio, simple plan and Sum 41.

Sorry but there are 10 pages of good punk bands and the reasons that many people dislike those bands. I also think he knew what he was getting into when he posted that if he read any of this thread. By the way that comment is just my opionion I am sure many people like those bands but I am not one of them.
