I'm going to take out the inner layer of canvas on my lavers, but i'm not sure how. anyone done it before? Do i first take out the insole? do i take out all the seams around the shoe laces? what exactly do i do?

Not that I use lavers but I have modified about 5 pairs, taking out the inside canvas is definetly a good idea. You will have to remove the insole, you will want to replace it with a thinner one that deosn't push the clipper area outward.

Do not remove the leather around the laces!!

Its quite tricky the first time may take you a number of hours, but it is necessary, see http://www.footbag.org on how to do it all.

I remove the canvas by starting slowly, using an exacto knife to cut one thread of canvas at a time until i have a nice line cut. Then i pull at that opening to seperate the canvas from the nylon. You should be able to figure out at that point by yourself.

You say not to remove the leather stuff that goes down with the laces. But the seams that hold that in place, go all the way through both layers of canvas. what am i supposed to do?

I think i get it now. Am i supposed to just remove the soft canvas in the inside of the shoe ( the part you do clippers and inside delays with)?

That makes more sense. I thought i was supposed to take out ALL of the inner canvas.

yeah i just take out a section of the inside part of the canvas. some people take out sections of canvas from the toe and the outside, but that isn't necessary.

because its best to be able to have that thinness on all sides (except the heel obviously) because you can feel the bag and set it better.

ok finished the outside. One shoe took me about an hour. I'm doing the other tomorrow. Hopefully its worth it.

Flat green spenco insoles made of neoprene are popular. They sell them at every other athletic shoe store for under ten bucks.

cant you just do a little snippity-snip on the old insoles to make them... not so wide?

anyway, how are you supposed to get those ones out? they are glued down and stuff

I have tried that and I found they were still too thick and pusjed into the arch of your foot a bit also. Definitely go with the green spencos.

You can pull them out quite easily even though they are stuck down (some more so than others), you may have to scrape some of the remaining foam off the bottom of the shoe though.

It does make them less durable, of course, but I haven't heard of any properly modified shoes having the outer mesh come apart.

Spenco COURT/AEROBIC insoles. Make sure they are court/aerobic for the forefoot cushion.

Is taking out the Inner mesh REALLY REALLY good? does it make quite a difference in your freestyle experience? or not much of a difference at all, just a small thing to make you be able to feel the footbag better.

heh... my foot doctor took the liberty of mercilessly ripping the insoles out of my lavers the day after I got them

so I couldn't really tell you whether it makes a difference to have an insole because I haven't had any for a looooong time.

I removed the insole of my lavers when I was taking out my inner canvas and never really put it back in. Even without the insole, my lavers are much more comfortable than any other shoes I have worn

you should probably have an insole so you dont ruin your legs

I was at scheels and they had some blue lavers !(just like the red ones but... you know), only 50 bucks too. But they were womens, and I didnt have any money on me.
