How many languages does everyone here speak? I'm not necessairily talking about fluency, but competence. I myself speak two languages. Curious to hear from people on here.

ive been studying German for like 1 year now. but i still cant really say much lol
its really hard to learn when u dont have like other German speakers like there all the time. only practice is really in class
but hopefully ill learn enough to have a convo with some German shredders when i come to Europe in the future!
I have been taking French for more than 4 years. I want to go to a French speaking area (eventually France, but Canada seems closer), and see if I can communicate with some people.
Indonesian was a subject in school which I took for about 5 years. I have stopped now. But i think it would be great if you could speak more than one language fluently.
Spanish is a terrific language to learn. Not for you, maybe, living in the midwest... It's great in a ton of places -- widely spoken, too. Then again it really just comes down to whether or not it's taught well.
I love French, but I wish I would have started Spanish now that I notice more and more Hispanics moving into the US. I wasn't aware of them up in Pennsylvania until I moved down here. I am thinking of taking a year or two of Spanish in college, because they are too hard to understand (Spanish especially, but just their hispanic and/ or southern English accent also).
Ive also heard that a fourth of NYC speaks Spanish.
Like I said in the other thread, I`m always skeptical when people say they can `speak` a language. Some people have a very loose definition of fluency.
That said, almost every German footbagger I have ever met has spoken near-perfect English.
It's great in a ton of places -- widely spoken, too. Then again it really just comes down to whether or not it's taught well.
