Space City Freestyle Jam 2004!

If you don't want to compete, but want to order a shirt, I'd rather that you select 'non-player' [which means non-competitor] in the first section, and then check the box that says 'Extra t-shirt'. You pay the same amount, but it makes it clear that you're not competing. Even if you're not competing OR ordering a shirt, you should still register so I know you're coming. No one has to enter credit card information. If you want to order an extra shirt [beyond the first one], they're $12.
So far, Windsen and I are the only ones registered. Check to see who's registered here.

I thought it was interesting enough to mention that there are people coming from Texarcana to compete, so we got some new hardcore players in the Texas scene..

Oh yea- I talked to Steve Goldberg about the routine time limits, and he says that it's not up to the tournament director to limit the freestyle routines to one minute. What maximum of two minutes means is that the individual competitor can make his or her routine shorter if they want, and it won't count against them. Oops. Ok the limit is two minutes..

Sorry about not saying this sooner-- Non-IFPA members cannot compete in the open division at IFPA-sanctioned tournaments. So if you're not already a member of IFPA, you need to register with them for atleast a year if you want to compete in the open division. It only costs $10. You can actually do it through registering for Space City 2004.

Friday night we're meeting at Dallas' high-rise apartment building downtown to check in / register / hangout / shred. It's called the Houston House Apts. More information on that at the event page. I'll see you guys there.

Damn, the tournament was badass. The next one will be even bigger and better- We've already started to work on it.
There weren't a lot of people competing, but we really got some good exposure and had a lot of fun, and that's what's important.
Btw, Juan Sanchez won both the singles freestyle and the Shred:30, and Curtis Taylor dominated the Sick3 and Sick Trick- His combo was barrage > legbeater > barroque, and his Sick Trick was superduperfly.

We drew huge crowds at the festival.. Especially when we had like 3 or 4 shredders and 2 breakdancers all battling eachother in a demo type of format, with the DJ right behind them.. It was great. I'm going to try to coordinate with the breakdancers next year, because they really raised the level of energy there.. I can't wait to see the video..
