Please Watch this (vegetarianism)
I am a vegetarian. I have been for somewhere between 6 months to 1 year. I thought maybe I might eat some fish or something, or maybe eat meat once a week. Then I saw this video. Never.. NEVER will I eat meat again!

I've always wondered why people are vegitarians... to boycot the harshness towards animals or the discust of eating something capable of being your best friend.
I will still eat meat after this video because the killing wont stop and meat is somewhat healthy (i think)

I would add that while we can physically survive eating meat - it is pretty clear that our bodies are not well adapted to eat meat and in actual fact we are probably herbivores that started eating meat (like those cows - this would explain a lot about humanity in general).
However that said - I enjoy meat. I grew up on a farm - I've seen animals getting killed, and later eaten that same animal. I'm sure cruelty to animals exists in the meat industry - as well as lots of other fucked up things - and I try to stay away from it.
Basically while I understand all the reasons for being a vegitarian (well most of them anyway) and agree with them - I just can't do it. I've tried a few times, but it's just not an issue I care about very much - this probably stems from my childhood as a farmboy.

I think this is a fairly good discussion really. I personally love eating meat. And the fact of the matter is, you would prolly have to get the entire world to stop eating meat to save animals or whatever vegitarians want (joke
). I think by people becomming vegitarians that probably wouldnt stop farmers from killing animals would it?
Like i said. i LOVE meat.
Like i said. i LOVE meat.

yeh i love meat too.
but i like what jeremy said. i mean. we dont have claws or really sharp teeth or anything. i doubt we were meant to hunt down and eat other animals. maybe we did used to have claws though, before we invented microwaves.
sam. youve probably heard this song. but its SOOO damn good:

Good point Erik. I was actually referring to our digestive system and how long it takes for meat to be digested - and even then it isn't done very well. Also eating meat makes you much more likely to develope a number of health problems and Vegitarians are healthier. Although as I said in the last topic on this issue - What this probably means is that people who care about the food they eat in regards to health are more healthy - rather than - being a vegitarian will make you more healthy.

Human digestive systems are much more adaptived to eating meat than they are to eating plants. Wonder why there are chunks of corn and peanuts in your stool? Its because our digestive systems are not long enough to fully process them. That is why most of the larger animals are herbivores. Meat is very healthy, that is why it taste so good. Anything high in calories is meant to taste good because humans couldn't always find all the food they wanted and the higher calorie foods meant they could survive longer without anything to eat.

God, I didn't think so many footbaggers would be so stupid. How can you say there might be cruelty in the meat industry and yet think that killing a cow on some farm is humane? Thats plain stupid. If you kill something that doesn't want to die just to eat it, that is being cruel. Also, there are lots of starving people in the world right now. They could be fed if the grain and water used to raise livestock were directly fed to starving humans.
By eating meat you are being selfish and evil. STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT! LOL. STOP FUCKING KILLING THINGs. And saying that just because the meat industry will still exist after we become vegetarians is like if some NAZI soldier said, "Oh well, if I don't harm these jews Hitler will still exist and have NAZIs kill JEWS so I guess I'll go along with it anyway, and hey its kind fun." YOU FUCKING LOSERS. Does it have to be a human to strike a chord ?!? You woulnt let it stand if humans were killed and eatin. But OH ANIMALS CAN BE. Just cuz they dont have the capacity to tell us not to eat them, een though they scream when we fucking kill them and try their hardest to escape.
There is no good argument for eating meat. You will have to use shitty faulty logic or just lie to yourself and be an asshole.
Like I'm gonna get beef jerkey while I write this post. You know what? You are gonna be a cow in your next life. I hope you are tortured before you are killed. You will also live in a very poor environment before you are killed.
Also, it is not healthy to eat meat. You must be educated by McDonalds.
What a bunch of selfish losers who can't control their urges.

Sharp teeth don't make you a carnivore. Quite the contrary actually. Herbivores have VERY strong teeth to withstand the scratching caused by dust/sand particles found in their food. Carnivores have teeth that are not as well coated. I'm sure most vegetarians who have delved into the subject have read about this.we dont have claws or really sharp teeth or anything

If enjoying meat makes me a nazi then

Heil the fucking fuhrer.
Calling people who eat meat selfish fucking losers? Why don't you grow up and stop trying to force your beliefs on everyone else. Or better yet go crucify people so at least we can get some entertainment out of your psycho crusades.
Now go back to masturbating to a picture of yourself because it's all you're doing in this thread.

America is definataly all about meat eating right now. Along with God worshiping and suburban driving. Why does no one complain that taking away our "right" to commit murder is wrong? It's not like im saying WHYTHE FUCK ISNT YOUR FAVORITE COLOR GREEN? I'm saying why arent we working to save our environment, starving humans, and helpless creatures? None of that was even addressed in your socalled arguments!!

That is so stupid Rob. You better watch out, you and I are gonna have a fist fight and you are going to lose.

hmm.
Obviously Sam has very strong feelings on this issue. [jeremy pokes Sam with a stick].
Ok so animals suffer before they die. That sucks - but so what? Deer suffer when they are eaten alive by wolves too. Should we stop the wolves from eating deer?
Of course you're going to say something along the lines of - Wolves are natrual and are doing that to survive. Maybe you'll even say - Wolves don't have the choice that we have.
You are correct in saying that we have choice in eating meat and having animals suffer at our expense or not. But I guess when you look more deeply at it - unless you are religious - which I'm not - life has no single goal or purpose. If another creature has to suffer so that we can enjoy it's succulent tender medium rare meat - well what has it lost? It's going to die anyway. And once it dies - the pain before dieing isn't going to matter. It's going to be eaten anyway - something will eat it - so it might as well be me. I'll enjoy it as much as any maggot or mold would!
Yes enough livestock grain is grown that we could feed the intire world population, but I don't believe the solution to third world hunger is that simple. There are so many other issues that need to be addressed. In particular the exploitation of the third world and the amount of the world that is owned by people - that should belong to all people.
It is good to be an idealist - and to aim for a perfect world. It is also good to be a realist and aim for achievable goals. I hope I am a mixture of both.
edit: I am working to save the environment and make sure people have enough food. I know the meat industry has a big impact on the environment - but in my opinion what's needed is a reassesment of values. I don't think the problem is the meat industy - I think the meat industry is a symptom of the problem. What's needed to save our planet from destruction is cooperation instead of conflict. Telling people what they should do will never work

Very well written.
"That sucks - but so what?" You ass.
"Deer suffer when they are eaten alive by wolves too. Should we stop the wolves from eating deer?"
This is true I had thought about this too.
"Maybe you'll even say - Wolves don't have the choice that we have."
That is eactly what I would say.
"BlahBlah Blah"
So you are saying that since the third world is already exploited .. that we shouldnt feed them?? That makes NO SENSE AT ALL. This IS an achievable goal, but only if people start putting the well being of others before the luxury of themselves. This is what AMERICA isn't doing right now. ARG! also. relegion is an important part of our existence Jeremy, good luck with that. Maybe this will help you:
I read that when an fMRI was done on a monk in deep meditation and on a priest in deep prayer that the same areas of the brain were showing activity. To me this signifies that religion is a component of life and that no religion is more correct that another. I guess this is a different thread.
Anyway, I still see no good arguments for eating meat except for the JUST ME FUCK YOU argument. Congratulations you are all dicks.
