Skull smasher is atomic ducking mirage = alpine atomsmasher = rasmus. The question was asking which name you prefer.

So, umm... I understand the Experiment...
But, lol... Wouldn't it just be easier to ask
the Admin, how many is possible.. He's gotta
know the limitations of the board... Or should
be able to find out.. Just a thought...

You guys might of already thought of this.. And
discussed it... But, I'm sure as hell not gonna look
through 40 some pages to figure that out..

I'm curious, though... I'll keep looking...

The standard phpBB installation that uses MySQL as the database backend uses a MEDIUM INT column to store the number of views that a topic got. MEDIUM INT is defined as a 3 byte (24 bits) integer, therefor :

2^24 = 16777216

which is the max nr of views the database would be able to handle (other databases normally use 4 byte integers, so that number would be even larger).

The question of whether the table size would get screwed up at some point if the nr got to large also came up - the answer is probably not. The "views" column for my skin (SubSilver) uses a fixed size of 50, if a number is to large to fit in this column, most browsers would resize some of the columns that has a variable width - for example the "topics" column, and you would probably not notice the difference (but it would take a very long time before such a nr of views are achieved).

A more important question is how long would it take for people to get tired of posting in this thread?

All of the useful information of this thread existed in like the first 2 pages, since then it's been this dumb little game =]
