Brocka Laver Mod
Hi everyone,
I did that mod last month, so I can tell u my experiences with it.
First of all my Lavers didn't fall apart
And the mod didn't influence my symp mirage in any way.
But I'm not sure if the mod really improved my clippers... they are better then they were a month ago, but I think that comes mostly from schooling them
Maybe it is a psychologically thing with that mod.
Despite of that, I like the mod and I would do it to my next pair too.
Greetings Max

hey guys,
I know I'm probably one of the few leather laver users out there, but I thought I'd post this as a warning. DON'T cut beyond the stitched line accidentally! I did that on one shoe and it has since 'blown out'. the material that is left on the insides of a modded leather laver is VERY delicate. I will post a picture of what I mean.
This only happened on the one shoe that I went slightly too far on, and they are by no means ruined. I can't even tell that anything has happened when I'm wearing them, but I can see that if I'm not careful it could tear further.
I like this mod as I found that the shoe interfered with my ankle/foot region before the mod.
I will do it again on my next lavers, and this time I will be much more careful!

Well, I was wasting time before I went to uni today and I thought... What the hell, and I made the mod.
I wore my lavers all day to see if they rub or anything like that. At first it feels a little wierd (and looks stupid, I must admit
), but by the end of the day I didn't notice it. Although it does feel a little lighter.
Haven't kicked in them yet, though. Will see how I go tommorrow

What I did myself when I modified my brothers shoes was that I drew a line just beside the stiches so it was easy to cut it off without harming any of the stiches which could have done harm to the shoe itself. I don't have the vocabulary about shoes and all, but just draw a line and see how it works yourself :)
Just a small hint.
Just a small hint.

Well, I think the mod has helped me greatly.
My left ankle is still limited in it's movement, thanks to a bad sprain in Feb, and not resting it properly, but it's pretty good now. However, the mod has helped my clippers become more consistant (BS) and it has not affected the stability of the shoes.
If you're concidering trying this mod, do this:
While wearing you Lavers, flex your ankle to an inside stall. Go as hard as you can.
Now, look below the padding (the section you cut out in the brocka mod), and see if the mesh is bunching up any. This is due to the ankle pushing on the padded edge of the inside of the shoe. If you make the mod, it will remove that padding, and will improve your ankle flex, by allowing it to flex that little bit more.

I wouldn't even say it helps just with clipper roll off, but just with the amount of energy you have to exert in order to complete a flat clipper delay.Johnny wrote:When I get a new pair of lavers, I think that I'll try it out on an old pair. I doubt I will enjoy it much, but it'll be worth a try. I don't really have a problem with clipper roll-off anyway.
Will report.
Before I did this mod, after an hour or so of sessioning, the area where the ankle flexes to do the clipper would be sore, I probably dropped a few clippers because of the piece of material in the way, but moreso the Broka has just helped me to have to use less leg strength to do a clipper, so I can use that leg strength for other things, such as trying to hit atom smasher > atom smasher

I've never used this mod.
Doesnt it really just help you with the overall flatness
of your clippers?I'm pretty sure Justin uses this mod
and it helped him with his clippers being more flat.
I think if you have flat clippers all ready you dont
need this mod.
But huge props to you Mr Brocka
(you have probably helped alot of peoples clippers)
Peace

let this be a lesson to everyone out there... DON'T MODIFY YOUR SHOES WHEN YOU'RE OFF IN "HAPPYLAND". I've done quite a few shoe mods while in happyland, and I always end up cutting myself, or cutting the shoe too much, or slipping through and piercing the mesh. one time, I was REALLY in happyland, and I got overzealous, and Darryled my choice lavers... total bummer, now they're just shandals...MJK wrote:It's a funny thing....I was off in happyland when I did it and accidentally did it to the outside.

Something that hasn't been brought up in these posts is that people also have different ankle and foot sizes.
I would imagine that someone who has a greater distance between the sole of the shoe and their ankle, would not need anymore room to flex.
Whereas someone whos ankle is riding on the foam of the ankle portion constantly, would benefit more from this mod.
What it all comes down to is personal preference and how you feel with the mod. I know that I am going to try it as soon as I get a new pair, I have short heel to ankle distance, so I think I could benefit from this mod.

Yeah, I just tried the mod and was able to link butterfly to butterfly, which is something I've never done before. My ankles bulge right under the section I cut out and I can already tell that its making a difference. Woohoo.
