viruses in Email. Please Read.

It has been brought to our attention that certain people have received viruses in their emails, sent by fellow footbaggers. As much as we are sure that this was probably a virus on the senders computer, we advise everyone to be wary of emails sent by footbaggers and encourage people to use PMing rather than Email. If it is found otherwise, and i'm sure this goes without saying, that person will be banned.

One way of remedying the problem would be to take your email out of your profile, only use PM's, and then if the person is trusted, give them your email through PM rather than publicly displaying it.

I don't think it's intentional. I know I've gotten virus' in my mail before from all sorts of sources. From webmasters to people I've maybe mailed once in my life. I think they just find random addresses and use whoever the sender is.

I agree. that's what I PMed back to the person that sent me the original problem. But i was kind of hoping for someone to speak up from all this and say "yes my computer has a virus that emails the same virus to others".

Allow me to say this

If you get an email from me or anyone else and that email has an attachment, do not open itUNLESS you know we sent you the attachment intentionally.

Another good way to tell if it's a virus or not is if it's an .exe or .zip at around 25-20 kb. Most people don't send those regularly, not to mention the small sizes of the files. If you don't know, email the person asking if they actually sent you an email.

or as stated before, just use PM's if it is someone on the board. i think that would be the easiest way unless it is an attachment, and then probbaly check first over PM's before you open it.
