I was trying it the other day and got fairly close to delusional same mirage (like a tap but with 2 out dexes at the beggining instead of one). It's still too low to be described as a "set" but there is some room to improve.
I'm guessing that it is possible to do while getting the bag about waist high. thoughts?
(this is in the Concept section, about the Delusion set).
I ask what denotes a set because, for example, with Ales' Symposium Whirling Swirling Mirage (Croxton), would you call the Symp Whirling Swirl a set? (and what would Ales call it?)
Does it need to have more than one trick hit from it? Does it need to be above a certain height?
For me a set is when the bag is still going up after the last dex of said set. If the bag peaks as you are doing/completing the last dex, I would still consider it a set.
EDIT: Also, I don't think a set needs to be a spesific height, some sets are lower than others. For me the only thing that counts is when the bag peaks.

I would call Ales' Croxton a symp. whirling swirling SET followed by a downtime mirage.
As for the height of sets, they vary: a pixie is easily ducked.. barraging sets are usually set lower (although they will be ducked too given time).
Yeah, it's not too subjective though, I mean we have pretty plain criteria for what is, and is not a set, and 99% of the time you know a set when you see one. The 1% is those instances where a set is low enough to leave some ambiguity or subjectivity due to dexing around the peak.
Even then, with video verification...
I haven't watched it in ages, but I agree that croxton is a good example of ambiguity though.

Actually I watched Ales hit Croxton again (I have the fortune of having an 848MB version of the clip on my HDD), and the swirl is actually completed on the downtime.
he hits a better one on The Move DVD, i dont have it here at Uni with me right now but im pretty sure the set is uptime in that one, he has alot more time for the mirage than in the version from Aussie nats

I don't think that there is any correlation between how high a set is and how clean it is/good it looks.
Heh, when I hit a Dimwalk, mine always look better set 3 feet rather than 1-2 feet. I suppose its cause I'm kinda n00bish still, and my legs aren't fast enough yet.
Ovetin, show me the dex in the clipper set. I think your definition is wrong.
also, I think your (our) definition of a "set" is too limiting. I think sets encompass any upward movement of the bag from a stalling surface that allows for other components to be completed after the bag leaves the stalling surface.

I think it's still a set if ther bag is peaking. In spinning and ducking sets, the bag is actually falling for part of it (unless you're doing a super early spin).
