Frontside and backside denote what part of a move is performed symposium style.

If I said I hit a symposium atom smasher, that's an inadequate desciption of the move, because I could have hit the atomic symposium, or the mirage symposium, but you wouldn't know.

Therefore the term frontside is used if the first dex is performed symposium, and backside is for the second dex. Ie, frontside atom smasher is symp atomic mirage and backside is atomic symp mirage.

Edit: Sunil proposed a more complex way of describing these using alpha, beta, and whatever comes after those two

(can someone else explain that? I can't remember). But it hasn't been widely accepted.

I think even if you hit symp barraging butterfly, then it can be called frontside janiwalker, even though the first movement has 2 dexes, because it's only counted as one symposium (one add).

They are alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, etc... They just refer to which dex is symposium. For example,
alpha = first dex
beta = second dex
gamma = third dex
and so on.

Aside from the simposium related definition, there is another definition that has to do with spins. Backside torque, for example, is mobius. Backside meaning that the bag passed by the side of your body that is your back. Frontside torque would be marius as it passes by your frontside after the spin.

that´s why alpha, beta, gamma and delta are better with symposium than bs and fs.
