osis help

Post by Painkiller »

hi im fairly new to the sport and i know a bunch of tricks. I can hit pdx mirage smp mirage and such but seem to have trouble with just a regular osis for some reason.

i can clipperstall well on both sides but it just feels like im goin into the stall blind... i see the bag it disapears then its off my foot and on the ground. Any tips would be appreciated

Knowing where the bag will land is a big help. If your sets are straight up and down then you should be able to spin and clip without seeing the bag.

I started spinning and looking under my arm for the bag.

Some people may have different advice, I can only osis on one side so far.

Just oversimplify what an osis is.

I find the best way to do this move is to just think of it as a clipper (which you can do well) after a half turn. Just set the bag high enough so that when you turn you will still be able to spot the bag and perform a clipper.

stall as you normally would for a swirl, but make sure you get a good set. the set should be straight up and not too high, but high enough so you can get your clipper around it. while the set is rising perform the dexterity. It is possible to do it entirely downtime, but it is a bit harder and more precise. Make sure you have a good swirl motion first, so definitely practice that without a bag. Tips only help so much though... with enough practice event the weirdest move becomes easy.

back to osis for a second.

My osis has gone threw about 6 different stages. all basic moves do. and even the big ones will too.

Watch tons of videos and do around 3 million osis and that is all it takes.

OFF the subject: there is a simple test to see if someone will become a good freestyler.

Show them a move, explain how to do it, let them try until they get pretty close. Then in an excited voice say," SWEET only six hundred thousand more tries and you'll have it."

If they laugh or say yeah right, they won't make it, if they procede to try the move over and over again, they have potential, if they go buy lavers and a sandman, then come back the next day with a thousand attempts under their belt, they're for real..... right James???

a bit off-topic because it's somehow general, but it sometimes helps :
Try to exaggerate or alternate.... :?:.... example :

While I learned pixie I hit NOTHING...no pixie, nada.
Then I didn't try pixie but pixie legover (sound weird, huh ?) and voilá,
I hit it !
same shit, different set :
stepping (no) -> crispy drifter (stepping os clipper) (yeah!!)

got it ? alternating or combining non-hit moves may force you to do
it differently than you could by yourself....

That in fact didn't help with osis, since I hit osis, but nothing out of it
( except a ss toe stall :? ), but I've got another tip :

Try to hold it, stall and stop it (like frigidosis), you won't get it, but it
helps to learn to navigate your foot in that strange position
