Diving / Zulu
Alright... I've read Flipsider's description on these two concepts before but am not sure which is which still.
For example... if I set with a right toe, dived, and stalled with my right toe again would it be diving or zulu? I'm leaning towards diving... That's all I need to know to get the two concepts straight.
Also... if you need to use SAME or OP for a dex or delay after a duck (or 'dive', whatever)... does the direction of the duck effect the SAME or OP for the following dex/delay? Or would it still rely on whatever is previous to the duck? I never thought of this before, and don't think that the duck would effect it since there's no true direction... It's just something I thought about while writing this post.

Diving - The footbag is set from the right toe/clipper and it goes up the left side of the head then back down to right, to a right toe/clipper.
Ducking - The footbag is set from the right toe/clipper and it goes up the right side of the head then back down to left, to a left toe/clipper.
Weaving - The footbag is set from the right toe/clipper and it goes up the right side of the head then back down to left, to a right toe/clipper.
Zulu - The footbag is set from the right toe/clipper and it goes up the left side of the head then back down to right, to a left toe/clipper.
Keeping in mind that you can also set from left toe or left clipper (obviously).

a part of me agrees with you but....AIvanyo wrote: i dont really think ducks or dives should be off toe.
learning ducking and diving is best from toe. Esecialy if you're 5 foot clipper sets aren't consistent
also drills like ducking p mirage>toe ducking butterfly>repeat are realy cool. and don't forget about pixie/atomic ducking, witch stems from a good toe set duck.
well if your clipper sets aren't consistant, here's a drill.
just practicing throwing the bag off clipper as high as you can and keep doing that for a while, (same clipp by the way) also, try to set it striaght up and not to the side or anything. That'll help you.

Toe ducking/spinning is a concept that you don't see executed much in footbag. This is what makes it a great variety move to throw in. While it may seem easier than clipper set ducking/spinning, variety is the key to awesome runs, especially if you are hitting 20+ contact runs all the time. Learn every move you can, they are all worth it.

Interesting question. Basically to set the bag up high and close to you, you just lift your knee up fast and keep your foot flat and close to your body. Which side is interesting - I've never really thought about it, but just checked and I set it up to the outside of my knee. This makes pixie ducking easier I think - and while I can also set to the inside of my knee - I'm not as good at this (or at fairy sets and fairy ducking) - I think you could be on to something here and I'm going to drill my toe sets to the inside of my knee to see if this improves my fairy sets!Prenz wrote:How do u set that high/straight from toe, while keeping it so close to ur body? do u pull the bag to the inside or outside of ur knee, or what?!
I agree with James that the best thing to do in footbag is to get good at everything. If it turns out there are moves you don't like - you can stop doing them, but don't cut out variety until you are proficient enough at the move to hit it when you want to.
