And then be able to trade the props in for a custom ranking... I can hope can't I?

i like johnny's idea being able to trade in like 10-20 prop points can allow you to make your own custom title and like 5 for every other custom name after that...

Basically, you start off with a certain number of props, and when someone else does something you like or shows a cool video or something, you give them props. It's just a way to actually physically (well, through the internet) give people props. They would show up under your title on the left. But the thing was, back then at least, they would only work with certain PHP Skins (Not sure if that's the right terminology). So like, if I had my skin I had back then, I couldn't see the props... I don't know how the code worked or anything, but we used to have it. So Brad, if you like posted a video of a combo I thought was awesome, I'd give you a certain number of props for it. It was just cool and helped build the community.

I personally don't like the idea of buying a custom title with props... I think they should be earned by post count and amount of time spent on the board (I have seen really elaborative titles that you get after being on a certain amount of time AND have a certain amount of posts... and slowly you unlock stuff on the board. I could link to that example if you guys wished me to. Just ask.)

Oh, and Brad, the Prop Monsta started off with this HUUUUUUGE number of props, and so he would just give them out randomly if you asked for them. I can't remember who it was though.

Props sucked dog balls.
People would start hording like last time. It's kind of pointless in reality. Besides, is it so hard to reply to someone's post saying something like... "Word" or "Props"?

I'm happy with the current title system, to be honest.
Although, how do you get a custom title? Is that only for Mods and Admins?
Comment in the BCS blog if you feel the need to.

Yes I think they props system ended because of a recession in the props economy! There was a set number of props in the forum to pass around and after a while a couple of posters "hogged" all the props without releasing them... which was a bit besides the point.
I'm not sure it's such a great idea

Does anyone really know why the props were taken away?
There is always a bigger trick.

Anywhichway, the props system sounds like a pain. So anyone want to give "Ranking" term nominations? I've only seen a couple so far.

The props were taken away because they made it hard to update or something.

I didn't like the props system so I switched to a layout that didn't show them to me. That's the problem, lots of people want them but everyone has to for it to work.

I didn't get into the props system much because around that time I had injured myself and was out for 9 months... but I thought it was a cool idea. Anyways, let's get off that topic since Brad doesn't go for it, and brainstorm rankings...

So we've got the:
- Dropless, Tiltless, Guiltless, Tripless, etc...
- Names of Respectable Shredders

I propose the possibility of having different rankings be different moves, working up from ATW to Mirage to Symp Mirage to what have you, you know? That's just an idea I had... it's not that great or refined, but you could do a lot more with moves than Drop/Tilt/Guilt etc... so you could have more rankings.

I think we should have ones similar to the ones right now, kind of silly, so here goes:

Doubly Dextrous
Triple Dex Trainee
Guiltless Guru
Quadlessly Qualifed
Clipper Clever
Mullet Master
Whirlygig Whiz
Guiltless Graduate
Beastly Boss
Symposium Specialist
Paradox Pro
Frontside Freak
Baskside Buff

You can make fun of me all you want, it only took me 5 minutes to think of these one! :P Doyou like any of them?

Props are cool and all, but then it would just be all about getting props for some people and it would be as lame as a post count race.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but on a couple of message boards I've seen an "Activity" or "[insert something along the lines of 'Activity' here]" meter under people's names. It's like a status bar that you would see while installing programs on your computer. And based on the amount of time you spend on the board, posts you make, posts per day (not the same type of average that's used in modified's profiles, it's a better way of judging), etc. it would give you more bars in the "status bar" image, or if it's a solid color bar it would increase how much was filled in. I've even seen starts and stripes (like military style) and talleys to mark stuff like that. It's pretty cool I think and wouldn't be a bad idea to look into it.

Peace.

I tried thinking up a ranking system that fit with the theme of the forum I administrated. I ended up writing random rediculously funny names and it just made people want to get the next rank, that they had no idea when they would get, and hopefully laugh.. They should just be like randomly funny names that have some sort of ranking in them..

I didnt like props either, kinda got annoying and people liked recieving more then giving. In my oppinion.
As for rank, we could use military rank followed by something footbag. ie. private atw at a low post count, private illusion when you move up. General Whirl, Leutenate Superfly.
I dont know how the military ranking goes but its an idea. and after that gets old (two weeks) then its Brads job to make up funny names.
Every man has their technique, and they are all different......when you know mine.....youll be dead.

Haha that's a great idea man. Kind of funny but "cool" at the same time.

yeah people with funny names should pm them to Brad (I hope he doesn't mind) rather than posting them here. They won't be very funny if we've already read them.
