Hey, for anyone who is expirienced with events like worlds or any tournament with prelims, semis and finals:
How many people who make it to finals use the same song through all the rounds. As long as there is an increase in variety and intensity of shred will the judges stay interested if the song stays the same????
routine songs change?
Imagine you are a judge and ask yourself the same question.
If I were judging I would want to see variety, but it wouldn't be reflected in the scoring, that wouldn't be fair now would it?
I would give props to someone for multiple routines, but then I'd have to score each routine as if I'm seeing it for the first time either way.
However I do feel that it would be easy for a judge to be biased towards someone perfoming the same routine better the second time, and biased towards a better or different performance in general.
It's so subjective that I guess only you can answer your question.

Go out and shred already.

Why not just change the song and use approximately the same routine?
The way im working on my routine is in "blocks". As in, 30 seconds of combos that are crowd pleasing and themed. I fit these blocks in different orders for different songs, change a couple certain moves around, and VOILA new routine. Maybe not original, but if you can play well to the song and on beat, while making your moves fit with the nuances, then everything is fine with me.
Just look at Vaseks routine at the zoka (sp?) james, the one on that spanish song, it was very well done. He had a spinning "block" in the there and a couple other things. Ryan mulroney is good at that sort of thing too.
