Okay let's try this out.
Dear footblog,
Yesterday I had a good session. We practiced for shred30 and I probably had my best one ever (it would have scored around 110-120). Then we moved on and tried some sick3s and I hit legbeater > ripwalk > blurriest and paradon > ripwalk > blurry whirl. My legs were kind of tired though, so I wasn't able to hit long runs. I basicly just practiced some of the moves I've been practicing for a while (drifters, spinning, ducking, flip dlo). I keep having problems hitting drifters and I don't understand why. Oh well, I guess I just have to keep trying..

Tuukka Antikainen called and woke me up this morning. He was in town and asked if I can go and shred with him. So I did. Mika Koistinen and Ilkka Malin came as well.
I was happy with my shredding. I didn't hit any new tricks, because I was pushing for longer strings and I did okay. Oh, I did hit my flip pixie butterfly > dlo, which is pretty good considering I've been practicing my flip pixie and flip dlo and a little while ago couldn't hit either.
What made this practice session really special were the girls. First there was this one that came up to us and asked if she could borrow our boombox for their dance choreography thing. I guess Mika was surprised by that or something and said, sure. When the girl takes the boombox and begins to walk away Mika goes 'wait a minute, I thought you were going to practice right next to us. If not, you can't take it!'. So we end up getting our boombox back. Then right before we were quitting these two other girls come and say something about how cool some of our tricks look like and if we could show them some of those, so they could do them (without the bag) in a dance choreography! Really weird.

Today I had a session with my brother, Jere. We ended up checking out this new spot to shred (outside of this mall called 'sello') and it turned out to be a pretty good one. I had one really long run and couple nice combos, like hitting pixie butterfly > dlo bsos this time. I also hit my first 4 > 5 > 5 -combo, which was at the same time my first time to hit 5 > 5. It was ripwalk > blurry whirl > blurriest.
After a while we had to stop, because it started to rain. What a summer - always raining..

Today was my fifth time to play during this week, so my legs were sore and stuff, but I still managed to play for a while and have a decent session with Jere and Mika. I've been trying BAP drill every once in a while, but haven't been able to hit it. Today I thought I should try pdx mirage > paradon [repeat] first and after a couple tries I hit it. So, I will hit the BAP drill. We'll see when that is.

July 5th,
What a day! In the morning I found out that I got accepted to the school that I applied to. AWESOME! Then I had a great shred session with my brother and couple other players. At first, my brother came about an hour late and said he doesn't feel like playing. Well, we talked him into it. Then we weren't even trying to hit anything big or stuff, but it just started to happen. My brother was definiately on fire and busted some phat strings all the time. We all got excited and played very well too.
In summary I ended up trying reapers and hit it both sides - flip was my first time. After that I finally hit BAP drill (blur > paradon [repeat]) and in the end of the session I hit my first Tomahawk. But my brother made it even better by hitting his first 2 seven add tricks (alpine whirlygig and gauntlet) + some other sick stuff.

July 6th,
I wasn't feeling up for a shred, but decided to go anyway, since my brother and this other guy was. I ended practicing single tricks that I have a hard time to hit inbetween a run (whirls, drifters, spinning, ducking). Nothing fancy, just some basic stuff. Oh, I hit whirl > pdx mirage [repeat] as a drill for the first time, so that was okay.

I've had two practice sessions since the last time I wrote. The first one was right after I went and played tennis, so I was really tired to begin with. I did okay and hit some drills that I thought would be cool.
Yesterday I practiced for the Euros and Worlds with my brother. I had slept too long and eaten like nothing, so I was feeling crappy. And you could tell! I couldn't even hit my first move in my routine, so I stopped trying it. Then we forgot to take a watch or something and couldn't practice for shred30. We did practice some sick3's and the best one that I hit was pixie ss butterfly > pdx whirl > blurriest. At the end of my session I managed to pull some nice drills for me like toe whirl > pdx illusion [repeat] and whirl > ripwalk [repeat]. My last thing to try was my flipside blurriest and I hit it very clean. Nice - that was my second flipside 5 add-trick. I guess I can't be too dissapointed.
Next time I'll be playing in Denmark (Euros) - So excited!

It's been a while since I've written over here. Well, it was because of the European Championships. It was great! Thanks for everyone making it happen. There's too much to tell about it, so I won't even try.
Yesterday was the first full day back and I watched some footbag videos and had to go out and play. Good thing I did, because I managed to break my ripwalk record (12) and pdx whirl record (3). Other than I had a couple nice runs, nothing too special.
Today I played a little bit of 4-square with some of my non-footbag friends and it was great to see the excitement they had. What a great way to introduce people to the sport. One of them asked me for a footbag and I gave him one of those orange bags they were handing over at the Euros.

Good day. We had a really nice session with Jere Vainikka, Toni Pääkkönen, Juho Marjo and Vesa Ruuskanen, me and my brother Jere. It was great. The athmosphere was relaxed and everyone was hitting some hard stuff! I just got some decent runs and I'm happy with that. After that there was this news story about footbag and my brother's 3rd place in Euros. It was a good advertisement for the sport here in Finland.
I am all hyped up about the worlds now. Can't wait. 5 hours and I'll be in the airplane heading towards Montreal!!

Worlds are over and man, it was a blast! I can't remember having so much fun. I didn't make the semi's, but I was still happy with my routine. Some said it was probably my best one ever and I think I agree with them. It's just that I've never done good
But I absolutely loved shredding with so many different playres out there. I just want to thank everyone that was nice and kind enough to play with me.
While there, I didn't learn that many new tricks, but my strings got longer. It was new to me to drop, because I was so exhausted and not because I just didn't have the skills to hit so many tricks in a row
Oh and special thanks for Greg Nelson. On thursday he came out of nowhere and played with me and couple other newer players for a long while, being such a great example in a circle that whole time. I got all excited to play that night because of him and his great attitude.

August 7th,
Nice session! I ate a large pizza an hour before and felt like it's going to be one of those sessions that you just wish they would be over. But no -- I played well and others were impressed of my game since they haven't seen me after Worlds yet. I was impressed as well! It just felt like a lot of the tricks have gotten so much easier for me to hit. The only 'highlight' I can remember was starting a run with paradon > pdx whirl > pdx whirl and continuing for a long while.
In the end I just skooled some of the stuff I want to learn, like swirls, drifters, flip pixie & atomic, spinning and ducking etc. Overall, I was very happy with the session.

August 9th,
Whoa! We had 6 people showing up to our small practise session nearby us. Thas was cool. Berhnard from austria was there for the first time and we are excited to have him here for 10 months to play with. He's a nice guy with some good skills.
I was satisfied with my game. Nice long strings and more effortless to hit basic guiltless strings. I also had a run with atom smashers and legbeaters bsos. Some other stuff I was happy with were my flipside blender, hitting my better blender mid run for the first time and hitting ducking butterflies bsos. I also forgot to mention that I made my butterfly record on the 7th which is 49. Today I tried again right before I stopped playing and got 46, having to stop, because I was too exhausted. Right now I'm happy with my game. If I could only hit those drifters..

August 14th,
Since tuesday I've been feeling a little sick (flu or something), but wanted to play anyways. On thursday we had a good practice session. I hit my first reverse swirl and flipside swirl.
Today I ended up playing with Bernhard after all and it was a good 2 man session. He gave me some good advice with symposium whirl and I hit it my first time. I also hit pdx eggbeater bsos, which was surprising and cool. I had a run with my flipside blender in the middle. I hit 2 out of 3 paradox blenders, which is pretty good considering I've only hit it under 10 times
It was just fun trying different tricks and things. Still no luck with my drifters though! Well, except hitting pdx drifter > flip pdx whirl, but that doesn't count. Normal drifters are hard..

August 24th,
I've played a couple of times since the last time I wrote here, but I just haven't been doing so well. Even yesterday I was feeling sort of tired/sick and dropped way too much. I ended up skooling some duckings/divings that I don't usually do and it turned out to be a good idea! I hit ducking paradox mirages bsos. Then I hit first time diving legover (bs), diving osis (bs), flip diving clipper, flip diving butterfly. I also hit flip pixie ss osis first time, so having hit like 7 new tricks I guess I can't complain too much. It's just that my runs weren't the same.

My school started so I've been a little busy. Luckily I have managed to find some time to play. On saturday I visited Jyväskylä and played with Janne, Tuukka and Ville. We had a fun and hot (I forgot how hot it gets in their training place) session. They all were hitting a lot of nice stuff and before it got too hot I was able to hit pretty consistent runs for me. At the end of our practise we played this drill game which was interesting.
On monday I played with Jere and Bernhard and had a really good session. I was all mad at the beginning, because I had forgotten my lavers, when coming back from Jyväskylä. So.. I was forced to play with my old non-china lavers that are too big for me and have no insoles... But I ended up having a great session hitting all sorts of stuff uncommon to me. I'll try to remember some that I consider good for me: symp. pixie > dlo [repeat] drill and being able to continue from it. Spinning clipper bsos! (those that know me will understand why that is so amazing). Hitting paradox torque in the middle of a run. Hitting blurry whirl > blurriest. Hitting atom smasher to atom smasher (I haven't been able to hit it since 2000). Well, that's some of it - can't remember anything else.

Sorry Riku, I didn't notice that you had asked me a question. The drill game went something like this: Someone called a drill that can be repeated. Then everyone gets 2 tries and whoever gets it first gets a point and will name the next drill. If no one is able to hit the drill, the one with the lowest score will name a new drill. I think that was pretty much it. It was fun and made me realize how important flip side tricks are.
Well anyways,
I've played a couple of times since my last post, so I will try to summarize some of it here. I played last thursday and friday. On thursday there was this happening that I, Jere and Bernhard went. First just I and my brother do a smaller show and after that Bernhard showed up. Then we went inside (it was raining a little bit) of a mall and played there. We thought that we would just try to keep warm until our next show, but that didn't work out! People were really excited about it and a lot of them stopped watching us. Insomuch, that the hallway got jammed and a guard showed us another place to shred were there was more room to do so. There we had over 50+ spectators and we were able to advertise Footbag Finnish Opens. After that we were pretty tired, but we still had a show left. Luckily, it was the main site and the crowd went wild when we came! After a song we were about to go away, but they cheered us to continue for 2 more songs! It was great. Jere was totally exhausted after it (long long runs!), but he didn't care. Good times. I was very impressed of my own game too. The whole day I was doing the longest runs I've ever done full of tricks I haven't been able to hit midrun. So nice.
On friday we went to Kisahalli, but I can't really remember how did I do. I guess it was okay, but nothing special, since I can't remember. My legs were a little bit sore from yesterdays madness.
Okay, so on monday we went to Kisahalli again and this time it was a little bit better, but still nothing special. I just felt like I had no energy.
On wednesday (yesterday) we decided to practise routines for Footbag Finnish Championships. We had a bunch of songs to choose from and some other plans, but nothing too planned yet. It was good session though. We ended up listening our songs and trying some cools stuff instead of trying to do our routines so much. I was so surprised of some of the stuff I hit for the first time:
Flip Gyro Clipper (?, like osis, but doing the spin right away)
Pixie legbeater (Sailing butterfly, I guess)
Royale (Paradox Grifter)
Whirling Swirl!
All of those have elements I've never been able to do.
.. also I was very excited to hit paradon > ducking butterfly > pdx dlo. Even it's all four add tricks, I think it's the nicest sick3 I've hit so far.
At the end I tried paradox flux, because my brother had just hit it for the first time, and it was really close, but I landed a little wrong and hurt my ankle a little bit. I got scared and stopped playing - just to be sure it won't get worse. It's been feeling fine today. Phew.

I hit bedwetter for the second time ever (those that attended San Luis Obispo Jam's last November might remember my first one). I was also able to hit paradox reverse eggbeater (not sure about the name? just like paradox miraging pickup).
But what made me even happier were some of my runs that were better than usual. I just had a lot of fun to play this time.
